We lived near BC’s first Derby house and went carol singing there once - we must have sung perhaps 3 full carols, getting more and more nervous until eventually he opened the front door, said “well done lads” and emptied his pockets into our collecting tin! He was the most charismatic football manager this country has produced.

@@josiekaposie5783 I’m not sure what the “bull” refers to? When Cloughie first came to Derby he lived on Ferrers Way in Allestree [before he moved to Quarndon] just off what was the main A6 Duffield road in those days, I lived on Gisborne Crescent was 15 minutes walk away. Or perhaps it was the “charismatic “ bit you didn’t agree with - well it’s only an opinion and I’m sorry if you disagree but that’s life.

I'm a Leicester fan, but love these stories about Cloughie, and Mark Crossley is a genuinely funny bloke.
The story of Cloughie flooding the pitch at the Baseball Ground when he fell asleep in the stand is an all time classic
I'd listen to Crossley all day long. I've nearly crashed the car because of him. There's a genuine affection and retrospective respect in everything he says about Clough.
I'm a Celtic supporter who loves these stories from other clubs and managers...Clough was incredible

We need a film of the WHOLE of Cloughie’s life and put all these stories in it! Imagine all the highs and lows of emotion.

That's funny but if Cloughie said it he is quoting someone else as its an old football joke. It was in one of my early 60s football annuals when Clough was still playing.

Im a big notts fan, but my heart always will be with cloughie, the worlds a poorer place without him. Imagine him after dinner speaking!❤
Cloughie was a bonafide legend and right up there as one of the best managers ever. Forest's gain was englands loss as he would have been amazing

The boss of the company I used to work for had an executive box at Forest and he knew Cloughie very well. One of the stories he told us was about a very well know player who was on the verge of signing and then it all went quiet. My boss asked Cloughie what happened and Cloughie replied "Nobody who has syphilis is going to play for this club."
Back then football was great, almost tribal. Many of the players stayed with the one club for years. Back then manager's were leaders who made managing the players their number one priority. Especially manager's who had once been great players like Brian Clough . All that stopped when players were taken over by agents. Now what have we got, managers' having to deal with teenage footballers who think they know it and quoting what their agents have been filling their heads with with. England has become a magnet for footballers rom all over the world. Good or bad? I can't say. But it lessens the number of talented players that the England manager has to pick from.
I can’t be the only one who’s watched hour upon hour of Clough content on KZread, and I don’t even support Forest, Derby etc. I’m not even old enough to remember him fully as I was a young child just before he retired Yet somehow I suspect that I hold the record for ‘most Brian Clough content consumed on KZread’ 😂 Thanks for the upload

I was walking my dog two days ago and I walked by his grave 😊
Deano’s story about Cloughie trying to sign him is the best.
When he died I heard a story from an ex player. Cloughie had dropped the player to the reserves, so the player went to his office and asked cloughie why is he in the reserves and clough responded because you are too good for the thirds. 😂 Would love to know who the player was.

Tommy docherty once said to Alex Forsyth a good Scottish right back for Man utd in his exciting mid 70s team when a Alex said why am I in the reserves the doc said because the third team haven't got a game 😂
It's so funny that all these players do amazing Brian Clough impressions! 🥰😆
The coach story with Laws cracked me up.
What a fantastic man Cloughie was, Total legend. Funny stories 😅😅
i met a guy who was the director of tarmac in tesco whilst having a coffee we spoke about football and he said cloughie was great as he would open and site with ribbon for him and didn't want a penny donate it to charity he said whilst other manger's (RON ATk) wanted a new drive putting in and cash top man cloughie
Try and get Russell Slade. He was at County when he was doing his coaching badges and had to go to Forest every week. He deliberately went early knowing he would be asked to have lunch. He’s got so many stories ( who hasn’t!)
Wonderful memories.
Me dad grew up with cloughy in grove hill went to school together iv a pic of them both in the school team 1949 marton grove school .
I love Brian’s story about when he signed Archie Gemil so funny
Great Video . Crossley is hilarious
I always feel sorry for Mr Chipperfield when these videos end. It sounds like he had a great time in Nottingham and following Forest for all those years and it must be sad for him to be away from all these people he became close with.
Pure class ❤
Everyone in the comments saying he was a bully and a nasty piece of work, but every player that speaks about him has a twinkle of love and loss in their eyes as they reminisce about him
Absolutely loved Cloughie..called my wee pug after him ..he was just a thawn as the MAIN MAN C LOUGH ...💙💙
Love Cloughie and Mark Crossley.
Brilliant😊
His wife said to Cloughie, "God, your feet are freezing".Cloughie responds, "you can call me Brian in bed, love".
Crossley does the best Clough impression out of all. Also Crossley was definitely the first keeper I saw, possibly the first full stop, who was punished for picking the ball up from a pass back. I think the reason he did it was because the defender played it back off his thigh. There were no opposition close to him, so I can only think he wasn't sure of the rules. I believe the pass back rule was only brought in after 92 Euros, do so would've been the first PL season. I'm sure we used pass backs when we won the last first division before the PL started

No, the first goalkeeper to get done for picking the ball up was Neville Southall and that was at Forest

Crazy. This would never happen now
Yes but he got them 2 stars above the tree. It’ll never be done again
I personally believe Clough was the best British manager ever ,others won more but would they have done the same as Clough with the resourses he had at Derby and Forest. Leeds were mad to sack him their massive lose Clough went on to greatness Leeds relegated with Clark in charge ,this from a Chelsea lad.
Never was there a manager that should have run the national side like clough football was all the worse for this epic cock up by the FA
I enjoy many of the clough stories, but what he did to steve Hodge was bang out of order..

Great videos! Another story that could be added involves Roy Keanes time at Notts Forest. Roy didnt play well in this particular game. After the game, Cloughie actually floored Keano with a punch! No way am I a Roy Keane fan,(▪and i am Irish, live in Cork and am a United and Ireland fan) ,but he was way out of line this time
In hearing these Brian could have been more nicer/respectful to the guys with their individual concerns. A different time/era though..

Biggest downfall of football today.. greed. And all the kneeling, that’s why after 40 years of watching and doing my best on a football pitch I’ve lost interest. I’d rather walk my dog.
That's why agents appeared. Managers complain about agents but if players had not been exploited so pernicious by clubs they would not have been needed.
Forest though, used to bore me so much, I used to leave the ground early, even watching them play in the Euro cup games, boring boring, 1-0 0-1, 1-1, 0-0, England where not much better with their 1-0s lol, But, Forest always reminded me of Russian teams during the Cold War, Boring Football...Boring results.
