It says the first cut is the deepest. It is! I was listening non-stop to this song in 1991 on a tape recorder while crying my eyes out over the loss of my first love. Never saw her again ever since, and I wish life had been kind to her. But even today, this song still sends shivers down my spine.

It's a different take on the old saying: If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're your's. If they don't come back, then they never were your's the first place.

I believe this was written by Mark's old friends Don Singleton, Perry York and the late, GREAT Ronny Scaife.

Yeah he's a good singer but he's also good actor that one scene in The Punisher he did was awesome.

I keep holding on to a girl friend, make long storie short she left without reason and i did something that did not help by not letting go i still think deeply of this women when she left in march 16th 1989 by April 7th 1989 i messed up ! And knew it would be over she is long gone and i still think of how i could ever be so lost without her im still single and Hope she is happy and has what she deserves Love i did love her guess showed it in the wrong way !!! HAPPY NEW YEAR MAY HER MEMORY FADE !

Saw Mark in Ft. Wayne In. He was on tour with Travis Tritt. He said he was gonna clean his clock before the tour was over. Pulled out my wallet and gave him a $20 bill to smack him for me. A few years later I ran into him at Tootsies and asked if he remembered. He did and liked fell off the stool laughing. Bought us a couple of beers and had some great laughs. He’s such a great down to earth guy.
