i was lucky enough to hear Pavraotti, Domingo but not Carreras. All are beautiful and I can understand the phrase 'blessed by angels' but there are a couple of others blessed: Jussi Bjorling and of course Caruso.

He was my mother's favourite and to this day no one has bettered him.

His voice was so pure and clean. He did not have to reach or strain to get to the high notes, his voice just soared

Mario Lanza was one of my late wife's and my favourite singer. She died 2 days before Christmas Day 2019. I miss her terribly. Whenever I hear Ave Maria, I always think of her and say a silent prayer. I hope and believe she is with the angels, waiting for me. Please, pray for us.

I watched this movie in the 70s I thought this song was superb.

Mario Lanza is my GOAT. This is the best version of Ave Maria I've ever heard. So sad that both Lanza, Schmidt and Wunderlich died so young.

Mario Lanza was,and still is,in my opinion,the best Tenor I have ever heard.His voice is unmatchable.

What older Catholic family did not have this song played at weddings and funerals. I played it when my Mother passed as I prepared her for them to pick up her remains. Mario Lanza's voice will always be the one that blesses this song in my heart and reminds me of my beautiful Elders who are now Ancestors. Ave Maria...Bless us with your tender Loving heart...

I cry now, my Italian mother loved this song and we played it as a surprise at my first wedding, she cried, everyone cried, but it was worth it to wipe her tears, may she rest in peace….

I watched all his movie with my loving Sister Nancy..That pass away..when we were little girls..we loved his voice and the prayers songs that he sang..put tears in our eyes!

I am not remotely religious, but was raised with a wide range of music and singers. I am 47, but heard a lot of Mario lanza through my parents. To this day I still love his singing.

i wish that you tube could show mario lanza movies in their entirety. these movies are top quality.

Beautiful! Simply beautiful! I have a record of Mario Lanza singing O Holy Night since the 1960s. I have his movies also on DVD. Such an impressive larger than life person! They don't make movies like that anymore.

May god bless you, I'm 64 but both my parents watched his movies.and Jeanette mcdonald I just love the singing nothing in this world can replace our beautifull music.

My mother had all those records of him and she could listen all day

Ещё в далёкие 60-е годы прошлого столетия девочкой 12 лет смотрела незабываемую мелодраму "Серенада большой любви", под таким названием у нас в СССР шёл этот фильм. Какие красивые лица, одухотворённость, чистота души. В то время я смотрела этот фильм несколько раз в ближайших кинотеатрах. Вот так я влюбилась в этих двух непревзойдённых Артистов с большой буквы. Затем в 80-х годах на нашем радио вёл целый цикл передач о Марио Ланце ещё один величайший певец моей страны всех времён Муслим Магомаев. Я и моя семья стремились не пропустить ни одной передачи. Вот так переплелась моя любовь к искусству, музыке и величайшим исполнителям современности.

My God, what a talent!! This brings me to tears 😢

I'm 52 now. I saw this movie many years ago in my early 20's. The clip isn't as breathtaking without knowing the storyline and that he had just got his voice back. Great voices are even greater live and in person. I bet seeing him live would have been amazing!

I have heard Mario Lanza since a kid in the 60's and 70's. My dad use to play a couple of his albums all the time. I love his voice. I over the time have bought many of his vinyl albums and still play them I saw The Student Price the movie a few months ago and own the The Great Caruso. I will search now for Serenade, I need to see the movie. I have to say after seeing and hearing this Ave Maria, if this was real and this person started singing like that next to me in church. I would think I was heading to heaven right there. What a voice. Full of emotion and devotion to The Hail Mary. I will never miss his voice, as I still play his music. Only wish he was around longer to hear more

My Granny loved hearing Mario sing this song.. She would have tears in her eyes.. She lived in a Catholic school for a time, and it became her favorite song.. She loved Mario's music so she bought his albums when she could.. Thank you for sharing this video..

At the age of 54 y.o I was but a child when I first saw or heard this man sing. Such magnificence vocally only to be proceeded by the likes of the 3 tenors in later years. Thank you Sir, Mario Lanza for showing your Brilliance as one of my all time opera singers :-). May you rest in true peace Sir as your voice gave me such peace as a child well into my teenage years. To find such fine singers these days is like to finding a needle in a haystack, just saying...........

Have any of you heard Jonathan Antoine. He is a very young man who sings opera and almost anything that we old timers call music. He has a voice that truly is a gift from God. Maybe another Pavarotti!

Dear Mr. Di Placido (part 2) I always play them back to back, The Lord's Prayer and then the Ave. When I watched this clip (many years ago now) for the first time, it prompted me to find the words (surely we could never use the word 'lyrics' for this!!!), both in Latin and English. It also prompted me to do research and I discovered this is the Schubert Ave. I can't help but believe it is divinely inspired. Again I'm lifted up on the wings of eagles and a peace - like a hug from mom or a warm blanket on a cold night - a peace settles on my heart and all is well with the world. Thank you, dear friend.
