Wish it was that easy. Even if we sweep them and are 46-31 to their 44-26 they will still be number 2 because they've played fewer games than us and therefore have the higher percentage. Though sweeping them would mean we would have the season series win which could come in handy down the road

The rumor is that Cleveland's pitchers threw a total of 193 pitches. If the Mariners can make every pitching staff do that. Wowzer, that's a whole lot of wear and tear on that entire pitching staff. Ya.... most relievers want to throw about 15-20. And so if they throw over 21, but preferably closer to 30 ➕️. That's huge for the opposing team. And not only for that game. But each game in a series. Especially if that happens in the first game. However, what the Mariners need to add to their roster is two middle relief pitchers. And one additional closer. Without selling the franchise. Yep..... every team has at least one of those three. And some teams aren't interested in winning. They are only interested in making a profit. And if the Mariners could take that high paid player off their payroll. They might be interested. Also....we don't need any more bats. Just bolster your pitching.

This game shouldn't have been this close. Commenter below mentioned Mariners' great pitching. Yet TWICE during the game, the Guardians scored extra because pitchers didn't cover 1st base in time. A pitcher IS also part of the defense. You don't just pitch. Especially when your infield was doing their job and twice were left standing there with no one to toss the ball to on first.

Woo is up tomorrow and I dont think he's ever gone into the 7th, at least not since coming back from the IL. And to be fair Walter did go 8 innings on sunday, not to mention this was off of a rest day. If Scott could, he'd probably try to get 7 out of Woo, and then use Thorton/Voth for the 8th and MAYBE bring in Stanek for the back half of the 9th if need be, since he only played to end the 7th inning.

Long reliever giving us two or three innings was the role intended for Brash and Kowar. Both are injured. I guess, this is why we'll see Logan Evans soon enough.

Pitchers got to do a better job covering first base. They were late twice. Can't make mistakes like that if they want to make the post season.

Not only do the Guards lose last night, but another SP not able to pitch effectively through 7, the usual, reliable bullpen gives up 4 runs and the Cleveland offense didn't really start score to late in the game. SP McKenzie continues to have inconsistent pitching appearances. ☹ I guess, Antonetti and Chernoff won't trade for a #3 or #4 starter for a little while maybe, not till closer till the July 31st trade deadline. 😔 I hope.....the Guards will bounce a back tonight in Game 2 of this series resulting in a W.

Do the guardians have anyone left in their bullpen? They used 6 relievers and I don’t think they can go back to back with some of those pitchers counts. Also I was very surprised by the outings of both Saucedo and Thornton tonight they were really bad but I swore I saw Bazardo in the pen before everyone started getting warm so it could have been worse. Munoz was money and Voth is quietly putting in work.

Reaching on a fielders choice is NOT a base hit, that being said I’m not a fan of the Julio hate either. Slow start, but that’s typical for him at this point. He is still shockingly one of the better hitters on the team despite the lack of pop, which I think he’s starting to find he’s driven a few lately

great win. need julio to not go 0-5 tho… brant brown was definitely the problem though. ever since firing him we are 9th in the league in runs scored. we batted .286 on the day today. we do that or at least bat .240 each game we can’t be stopped

For years they traded from "a position of strength" until it became a weakness. We don't have the depth to keep on throwing good arms out there after the injuries claimed 2 of our best. I feel that bullpen needs should supercede a hitter. Hitters never pan out for the M's. Every time they trade for a hitter, his bat turns into a wet pool noodle upon arrival. Pitching is what's gonna get us there and our teams bats always improve as the season goes on. Address the bullpen first then do what ya can to pick up a bat (and some catching depth.

I remember pitching in HS in Wa State. We had a couple of nights where it got humid. It maid control of the ball a little harder, and getting settled in the same. Great job to Munoz for taking care of business.
