UPDATE FROM MICHELLE FISHER 8/2015:
I just wanted to post a quick update. Jax is doing really well. Him and our son have quite the bond which makes me so happy. He has lost all his puppy fur so he looks completely different. He's a very happy and energetic dog and we couldn't be happier that he's here with us.
ORIGINAL STORY:
PAWsitive Channel and the SPCA International’s program Operation Baghdad Pups:Worldwide (OBP) team up to film the reunion of Sgt. Jacob Fisher and his dog. Fisher had recently arrived home from his seven-month deployment from Afghanistan, his 3rd tour to the Middle East. Sgt. Jacob waited nearly three months for the moment he would see Jax again. This reunion took place on April 24, 2015.
Sgt. Jacob is on active-duty, a hero who continues to protect our freedoms and our lives. When he found Jax, only a puppy at the time, he knew he couldn’t leave him to fend for himself in the harsh and potentially dangerous streets of Bagram, Afghanistan. He had to save one more life before going home - and he did.

+Michelle Fisher As a fellow Marine who served in peacetime (90-98), I'm always happy to see stories like this that enrich the lives of the guys who've had to endure so much during these trying times of instability in the middle east. I have so much respect for you SGT. Fisher! Also as a fellow K9 lover (I bought a truck in Texas last year and got a 'parking lot' boxer/pitt mix for $20 - best money I've ever spent), I appreciate your desire to give Jax a forever family! It's also nice to see your family on board with the idea. I wish you and yours a long, happy life together...Thank You! Season's Greetings to you and yours! I realize that My response is directed to SGT. Jacobs through you Michelle, so thank you for being my 'bridge' to him! SEMPER FI!!!

If this is the sort of compassion and honour he brings to his service then he should be thanked for it. Thankyou for your service Sir. This is the sort of man that should be representung the US then having lots of kids when he gets home. What an example for his son to follow. Great stuff.

I know how much a dog can mean to someone who is alone and missing home. My little buddy Dany was with me for almost 15 years. He got sick and I had to say goodbye to him 5 days later. I cried for three days then realized I was crying for me so I stopped. But I miss him every day, it's been just over three years now and I was truly blessed to have him in my life, he will always be in my heart. Dogs are a gift from God.

I brought two dogs to the US from India and I can tell you this: they were worth every penny, every late night, every bit of heartburn, and every dang form I had to fill out. We lost Rex a couple years ago. It was a devastating blow. We had him cremated and he will be with me forever. Emma's still hanging in there even with having only 3 legs (and all 3 have issues) plus epilepsy... she's still doing okay. She's such a strong-willed dog, and so dang sweet. I miss Rex, but I don't think we can replace him. When we eventually lose Emma, we will probably find a couple more dogs from some other far flung place. ;)

Thank you for the work you do, finding pups and the soldiers they helped. It's healing just to see they getting back together. Funny how healing can work that way. Sometimes even without war, life take a toll on folks. Pupdogs and cats seem to have a talent for drawing people out of darkness. Messengers from God, I calls'em.

39 people don't understand. I"m glad he brought him home to his family but remember there are many wonderful pets at local shelters who desperatly want homes. I think we'll go down there to get a new friend.
