    From one Marine to Another. Semper Fi. Awesome video. I have been procrastinating, but I would really like to create that design also. I have design and craved it as a plaque and it doesn't look as great as yours in epoxy. Great Job!

    I really enjoyed your "Devil Dog" project. I've got a couple of coworkers that would be begging me for a marine design like that. I'm just getting started with CNC and epoxy inlays. I recently worked on a project involving a similar wing design like your USMC eagle. (I'll use your eagle as a reference) After pouring the black and routing out the yellow feathers, I was running into an issue with the black lines breaking. I'm guessing there is too much pressure being exerted with the excess epoxy shavings against one side of the thin black line. Have you ever had issues like that? What rpm do you run your router bits when carving?

    Would it be possible to get the vector file for the logo? Everone I've tried to either convert, trace, or download, both paid for and free, seem to be full of errors or not convertible to vector files for V-carve. I use the Pro version software and rather new to the world of epoxy inlays. My plan is to v-carve and American Flag with the Marine Corps logo for my retired Gunnery Sarget brother-in-law. A daunting task, gonna make mistakes, but I'm up for it. I don't have facebook and I'd pay for the file. Thanks and great work.

    Awesome job!! Even though I’m Navy I still think it’s beautiful! One question-do you leave the piece on the cnc while you are waiting between each step for epoxy to dry? If not, how do you ensure you line it up perfectly each time?

  • @dmanera

    I do leave it on the machine but I am aware of individuals who remove it between pours. They place a board along the x and y to insure it goes back in the same location.

    Seal with a light color even if it means cutting it all away during the process. The main pocket is .15 deep all other cuts and colors are .125 so you have that light color as a base.

    @timothypropst238 no you need to seal with a resin or some type of poly to seal the end grain of the carve.

    What epoxy did you use and what colorant. This is amazing work. Did you let the epoxy dry between color pours?

  • @dmanera

    @dmanera

    I wait 24 hrs between colors to be able to carve, on these projects I use famowood resin from Lowes. It cures overnight and is easy to work with. The solid colors I use Mixol pigments.
