Marias Pass [BNSF in Montana's Magnificent Rockies]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Originally released on DVD in 2009, take a tour of BNSF's very scenic Hi-Line Subdivision through the Rocky Mountains of Northwestern Montana. The railroad skirts the southern boundary of Glacier National Park, twisting along the Flathead River and climbing through tunnels and snow sheds. Shot in mid-October, the season transforms from fall to winter.

It's probably nice for them, too. Nice long runtime for "the algorithm" to promote the video the longer we watch it, which means more ads and more revenue 😊

I hauled fuel trucking with double tankers over this road for a few years going to Costco in Kalispell. Road was next to the tracks most the way. Quite a few memorable trips in the winter. Or summer with the rv's EVERYWHERE.

I've seen plenty of footage of the 4449 back in the 80s and early 90s when she pulled complete Southern Pacific train in Daylight colors and in this footage she's pulling what looks to be a complete mix of random passenger cars. Although it was good to see her on the rails again I'm wondering what happened to her original train it was so much more beautiful.

Marias Pass when James J Hill built BNSF a century ago he and John Stevens picked the best route ever and that route was here Marias Pass in the Montana Rockies. Unknown to them they found something else Marias Pass goes through Glacier Park and the schedule of the Builder is perfectly timed so both trains meet exactly at noon inside the park so guest can explore this great land. From Whitefish to Havre this line passes through America's greatest wilderness. Welcome to Marias Pass BNSF's Highline Subdivision.

My friend, your videos are first class and the best of their type. It must be an unbelievable amount of work to provide so many perspectives, many of them quite unique. Here in the east, trains are mostly seen at crossings and they are very imposing. But out there in Montana, the scale is very different and they look like HO trains. I'm nowhere near a rail fan, but I do have more than a passing interest in them and I thoroughly enjoy your amazing videos so I decided to subscribe. Again, you do an incredible job on your videos.

I was curious with locomotive 🚂 BNSF 4097 smoking @ "9:01" looks this was fairly commonplace before turbo failure once googling 4097 even as far back as three years ago at Tehachapi on a rival channel being locomotive lead number 4. Thanks for sharing the magnificent grandeur from St Paul to Seattle 😊

Looks like that first DPU on grain train leaving station had a spray tip blown off one of the injectors. Dumping raw unatomized fuel directly into cylinder

Been there at least 10 times and every trip I find somewhere new to watch the Hi-Line. Unfortunately, the Izaak Walton was sold again and the new owners (Loge) had an estate sale in June to get rid of all the railroad relics before they remodel it into a hipster spot.

Well narrated and great power-points. Most of your timeline of history on Marias is good. It’s kinda sad seeing the old platform at Whitefish before they redid it. It was really nice seeing SP 4449 aswell! I love your passion for making these mini-docu’s! One question tho, did you have permission to be inside the snowsheds or did you get the first shot and book-it?
