It’s sad that her pitch is no longer there in “Stay The Night” 😭😭 I’m not a vocal expert but the original pitch she sings in “Hero” “Always Be My Baby” and in “Stay The Night” it all sounded like the same key but Idk which key. Its just in 2020 her pitch has been reduced 😭

She's singing in a low key, in stay the night. The highest belt in Stay the night was a G5, in this video, the highest note was a Eb5

@LambilyXDaydream clearly you havent since theyre completely different 💀 the 2010 g#5 was raspy as hell, but the one from 2020 was VERY clear and the runs is also different as well as the note that led up to it.

@LambilyXDaydream alr then make a video proving me wrong I wanna see it. Ive heard them both many times. Every single song mariah did for Christmas had new vocals. She said, or someone said, that she didnt wanna have the same vocals anymore so they were all new. Idk why youre so invested in saying she just used the same vocals when she clearly didnt because they sound VERY different.

@LambilyXDaydream nice try but you took them both out of context. You only put the G#5 in but you didnt put anything before it or after it, for both. And just because the G#5s on their own sound similar, doesnt mean theyre the same. Youre making it seem like she can only hit a certain note once a certain way when she can hit a note multiple times and have it sound the same. Youre delusional.

Alto is a part in a choir that can be sung by different vocal fachs: soprano, mezzo soprano, even a lighter tenor - anyone who sounds good in that range (funnily enough a contralto would sound best in tenor section). Mariah's vocal fach is (light lyric) soprano, but she would definitely sing alto in a choir setting because her voice is so warm and beautiful in her midrange and because she barely uses her head voice.

She is a Soprano...A lot of people want to put her as an Alto or even a Mezzo Soprano...i even seen someone said she is a Contralto with high notes and that was so hilarious to me. She is no where a Contralto but her voice type scream Soprano all day long! Lol

She said she felt she was an alto when talking about her head voice. Unlike some other sopranos she doesn't have that ringing head mix voice hence she hitting the notes more like an Alto in a chest predominant mix. She knows she is a soprano though

I can see why, if you look at her early work from her first three albums, I think she sang more on the deeper end, and she was a singer who just happened to have a whistle register. But then she began to use her upper range more, almost exclusively, but based on her speaking voice I think she could classified as a contralto. She has a very deep voice with a lot of resonance.

She has nothing to do with being an alto. She can sing in the alto range but shes clearly a soprano

C6 isn't whistle register is headvoice.
