On top of his playing, Marcus is a great Gentleman.
when the master speaks, silence. the happiness of Julia makes you cry haha
I love Marcus Miller but honestly I watched this because I knew Julia's enthusiasm would be through the roof in the this interview.

Yeah - I saw here interaction with Marcus when she was in school
Wow.. I didn’t know Marcus was so generous and humble yet commanding and centered I mean he just transcended the typical limitations of an electric bass and effortlessly demonstrated so many aspects of music . You can see why he’s a band leader / music director / composer / performer/ teacher, his diversity is stunning Julia did one of the best jobs as a moderator I’ve ever seen and gave him all the space he needed which is so rare..

Brilliantly said. Thank you for sharing your insights. 🫶🏽
I saw Marcus Miller with my son and wife in Strassbourg 2018. We sat front row center. My wife hugged me and swept me off my feet right after the concert from sheer happiness. She didn't even know Marcus Miller before. Marcus Miller is pure magic.
Julia is such a humble young lady. Makes me love and appreciate her so much above her skills. And, Marcus is a really humble dude. I'm met him a couple times. It's one thing to develop a love for someone just from hearing them. It's something TOTALLY different [but no less important] to grow to love and respect someone after having MET them. Marcus is that type of guy.
That was a quick 14 minutes cos it was so fascinating watching him play and describe what he was doing. Thanks for the great interview.
Marcus Miller is the best. Brilliant technique, but only ever used to serve the music. Great interview by Julia.
Never Too Much is one of the greatest basslines ever!!! Marcus is a true genius. He always does what's best for the song, and that's why he became a first call bassist.

We can see Julia is so impressed and fan for Marcus (who wouldn’t be??), but she did well and it was a very pleasant interview with a lot of very important info from Marcus. There’s no other word, he’s the master!
One of the most fun but also informative interviews with Marcus Miller. Thank you Julia, your bass playing and positive attitude is an inspiration.
Two of my favourite Bass players.
Marcus Miller is a Legend
Thank you Marcus for giving the electric bass its own international voice in music across all genres. While the debate rages over the G.O.A.T in virtually every aspect of human endeavor these days, when it comes to music in general, and the electric bass in particular, your body of work speaks for itself. Also, your willingness to share the many experiences within the depth and breadth of those accomplishments, and offer guidance to those of us who will never be the subject of the aforementioned discussions, is greatly appreciated!👑🎵🎸
I’m a drummer and Marcus is definitely my favorite musician all time... easy choice... he is an AMAZING musician and an amazing human being
I had a ticket for that Budapest gig and it got cancelled due to bloody Covid. It was so nice to rewatch this video, I hope Marcus comes to Europe again. Also super nice to see Julia being so passionate about bass all in her videos.
Hard not to be starstruck by the man, but a good interview nonetheless. I like how he gave tips on how to approach music with your bass instead of showing 3 slap licks and be done with it. Thanks for sharing!

That’s why he is Marcus Miller and not one of the zillion of slap freaks around the tube! 😁
I love how he explains his words with the bass rather than the other way around.
As the great French composer Claude Debussy once said: "The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them."
I’m just obsessed with how adorable Julia is. OMG.
Marcus is an amazing musician
Marcus is amazing. I've seen him in concert as well he is amazing !
The first thing I ever played on a bass was the beginning of Fat Time by Miles Davis, also played by Marcus Miller ;-) Saw them play together too, back in 1983.

I started to just type WOW, but then I looked down and saw how many other people beat me to it. Marcus Miller is a professor of knowledge.
Love how he started playing the Luther tune because she said that’s the first song she ever learnt to slap. Love marcus
Marcus is just wonderful! So funky and dope! Thanks for all the music through the years!
Ok. Now I love Julia. Sweet interview and thanks for being genuine!
This girl did very well! Marcus is great as always.
The world needs more interviews with Marcus... There are LOTS of great players out there now but Marcus gives meaningful and useful information. I think that having someone of Julia's class as a player interviewing also brings out the best in someone like Marcus too. Even though she asks few questions he KNOWS she understands and so it becomes a conversation between colleagues in a sense. One of the most useful interviews ever. Thanks!
Julia, I cried a little bit too while watching this video. This was really special.
I love how Julia keeps time with her foot while Marcus plays.
I thought the livestream was great but this was awesome 👏🏽

What got me first drawn to Miller was his funky chill bass in 'Rio Funk' with Lee Ritenour. And he was only about 19 years old at the time. Brilliant
There's something precious about a female bassist grooving with a big smile on her face 😄
Great video, love Marcus!
Keep her as an interviewer, she's really good!! Keeps it lively and genuine enthusiasm!!! Mayhap chat him again about the tech aspects of his sound setup, pedals(or not) amp settings and such....
Omg, was not expecting a master class of this magnitude. Wow! Hope cool MM, just drops in and....
Tremendous technique
great little interview
Fantastic! Love it!
"Nice touch." Very good interviewing Julia.

Such a cool guy!
thank you very much for this share
I want this man to be my teacher.
Marcus miller basses are great and affordable its great that he didn't go for the insanely priced bass route that many virtuoso's have gone, we can actually buy and play those basses.
Marcus Miller is hip, cool and such a nice guy!
That sounds great I'm still trying to learn that slap especially the hammer-ons it's a great funky bass with can't get enough of listening to it
Master master
Thank you.
Hi after watching many videos of Julia talk about base I’ve always thought one day she was seat with an actual legend and they will just have a good old chat. Wow this actually happened
A whole lot of internet virtuosos could learn from Marcus Miller about playing for the song and being in such a hurry to play every single thing you know all of the time.

Incredible playing. Totally cool cat.
This is the most quiet Julia has ever been in a video. Nervous and a little bit in awe?
Marcus has always been the single biggest influence

I fuckin loved that thanks Thomann.
I love how he's so good but he's never showing off.
Marcus Miller is very humble, he is talking very friendly. He is the legend of Bassist! I like to watch Julia's videos. she is sweet. However, you should think about adding the subtitle options.
Excellent interview! Am sure Marcus thought the same..
Never saw Julia so shy, luckily Marcus came out by himself. But no wonder, as he is one of the best bass players of all time, and obviously a very humble, intelligent person.
Julianwas just tingling the whole time, and I’m think, this Marcus cat has probably played the bass before😂👍

This V7 sounds so much better than the V10 that he played on another KZread video.
MM badass
Guys, what song is Marcus playing at 12:16?
oh girl oh girl... you lucky girl! 😁
MARCUS MILLER IS ONE COOL CAT
Fan freaking tastic
Man Marcus has a full understanding of how music works, so before he hits a note he has full understanding of the exact chord signature and it’s under tones so that he completely gets the entire structure of notation. He knows what notes he has to work with and he knows what his role is a bassist. I have noticed that most the solo bassists can rip up and down the fretboard, but kinda lose the ability to play bass lines as intended by knowing what you do to compliment the track, knowing what can step over the vocals and the boundaries. And it’s obvious that this is not understood by everyone who you see ripping away. As a matter of fact check out how many of those cats are on tracks playing real bass lines? And check out the cats who are doing everyone’s albums and see how many of them you see focusing on being a soloist?
You look like a young girl meeting the Father XMas in that vidéo, Julia ! Marcus is also one of the persons which made me wanting to play bass.
Anyeone knows the name of the song Marcus played at 1:35

I wish somebody look at me like Julia look at Marcus
*JULIAAAAAAAAAAA!* (sorry)
OO she understands him and respects his talent.. Some interviews of great talent are done by people just doing what is ask of them with no basis in who they were with. EPIC Bass Goddess! OMG! Slap Like NOW!
This guy was 60 at the time of the interview, let that sink in.
