Thanks for watching. My Ornithopter project have been on hold for several years now due to my constant move to a new home ( 3 times in the last 4 years ) ,had to put my project in storage boxes.. I recently got back into it but cant do anything during winter season ( too cold in my new tiny garage ) , and yes I will have a less noisy version soon... This is only a prototype version with a custom built aluminum open gearbox, it's the aluminum gears in the gearbox that is making that noise . My new 3D printed version has an enclosed gearbox with nylon gears .

@@jafinch78 Thanks. The other bird you mention is made by Festo. They have million dollar budget , a dozen engineer and a proper facility and tools to build one. I build mine in a small garage with just a few bucks of dollar to spare to buy materials and using mostly basic hand held tools. ... Working on a new version now.
50 years of modeling and I've never seen anything like that! What an achievement!

Same- however, I AM seeing newer and newer inventions, growing along this line of thinking. Once, was an RC "Dragonfly"-type insect .... even had a pilot! Isn't Liberty, Freedom, and Innovation, the very best life has to offer?
I always looked at ornithopters a cool novelty. You are the first to make me take this part of the RC sport more seriously. VERY well done. THAT is AWESOME!!!

MARCIALTECH, this is the coolest flying object I have ever seen. If you can silence the noisy mechanics and put a camera on it, you will have created the ultimate stealth drone. The government and military will pay big bucks for such a device. Before that happens, you should call this the "Operation Squeaky Eagle Project." Congratulations.

Very cool! The pigeons were defiantly scared of that huge hawk looking predator.. lol lol. I used to have a small wind up plastic one when i was a kid.. it flew great till it landed on the road one day.. we all know the end of that story! Lol. Yep i watched as it got crushed by a car driving bye.. lol lol.
Obviously this is something that could easily be made available to the public, either as a smaller version as a toy or a larger version for adults!

I have to say its one of the better ones I have seen. If you look at the slow mo of a bird flying you will notice that they actually throw their wings forward on the up stroke and pull air backwards on the down stroke, all most like paddling a boat. There are certain limitations of what we can do in this space and I am yet to see a design that is able to do more than the up and down. I would love to work on this project with you when you get back into it and it warms up.
Pretty amazing. May you get the time, resources and space to continue your work and improve on it.

Wow i have been wanting to build one .. its the aerodynamics that look really complicated to me. But as a get go my idea was to build something that flaps slower like this one not crazy fast like some of the smaller ones i have seen as that doesnt look natural at all. at a distance this thing will look exactly like a real life giant bird. Do you have any plans on how you built this any drawings and stuff and the equipment you used for it i would like to use this as a base point and improve upon if i can. Thanks for your efforts and great to see you have built such an amazing machine.
