True. Burt was overly insecure and fragile. There was a lot Marc could have done here to embarrass Burt too... knock off his toupee, comment on his fake teeth, or the fact that he wears huge lifts inside his already high-heeled boots (back to back you can see that without the lifts, Burt and Marc would probably be the same height, Marc might even be slightly taller). • @bshieldsd

In the Maron interview I sensed Summers was a bitter man who watched many that he came up with make it while he got food thrown at him by kids. Quotes like Andy Kaufman had no talent, the true anti-semites in the Biz are the Jews, Mitzi Shores slept with all her stars, Soupy Sales had $ problems, etc all came from a man steeped in frustration and jealousy. Dude was simply not funny, too rehearsed in his demeanor…and when he ran out of material he decided to shame his parents by becoming spokesman for OCD…gotta give him points for resilience, but he should have stayed in family’s grocery biz

No surprise there since he killed a man in 1973 while filming a movie in AZ. Reynolds was an arrogant, entitled hot head. Hollywood covered it up. Here's the article. BURT REYNOLDS GOT AWAY WITH MURDER IN 1973! Reynolds brutally beat love rival David Whiting to death with his bare hands in a jealous brawl over sexy movie beauty Sarah Miles - and got away with the murder! This was concluded after a three-year investigation which exposed a shocking cover-up that allowed Reynolds to cheat justice in the brutal Feb. 11, 1973, killing in a low-rent Gila Bend, AZ motel. Although local lawmen were convinced Whiting, 26, was murdered during a showdown with Reynolds, the coroner’s report issued after the incident claims the actress’s business agent died from an overdose - and the bloody wound on the back of his head and cuts and bruises on his body “had no bearing on his death.” Marc Summers was very fortunate!

I don't know too much about this Marc guy, but from what I've heard... he sounds like a real jerk

Anyone who makes a living where kids dive into vats of baked beans deserves a punch right in the face. Burt had it right from the start.

I grew up a Burt Reynolds fan. I loved him growing up. I'm also a Marc Summers fan. I respect both of them. That said Burt was being a real dick. I think Burt towards the end knew he was and the hug was his form of apology. I really respect Marc for his quick wit and that he didn't back down. Burt stated it and Marc with grace finished it.

Marc was the one being rude by completely turning his back to Burt. After Burt pointed out how rudely he was being treated, Marc made his completely unwarranted comment.

Um Marc is the guest on the show and supposed to be talking to jay. Burt was the first guest and his segment was over. How was Marc being rude?

@@Grimpmann Not to mention Burt was a little disgusted with what Marcs show was doing with kids making sure to cover them in crap so they have to take on set showers after with all the creeps in the industry Burt may have had reasonable suspicions about Marc based upon that.

I just heard Marc Summers' take on this episode on NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn. It's a great story that Burt was actually helping Marc save face on the tonight show. Love it! ❤ Apparently, Jay Leno doesn't like card tricks. Lol!

Burt did not hold back..that was more than a pie in the face, there was an open fist behind that plate..wow, I remember seeing this that night, when Mark made that comment about being "still married" I knew he was in for it...that was freaking wild...I bet Carrot Top was pissed!
