There’s a certain energy with penciled work. U can call it “sketchy” but it adds a lot of life and movement to a drawing. I like how Marc captures that with his inking style.

His work is amazing, I saw the colors on his batman book and it doesn't do it justice. It looks so much better in black and white, you can see his line work all the detail like an old school masters. Great work

Thank you Rich! Don’t worry your video length was fine. I could definitely look over Mark’s drawings for hours.

The floppies are sure to have a few surprises, but I hate missing issues. So the Graphic Novel release is what I'm waiting for when the Batman books are finished. All great stuff- He is a master that transcends comics for sure. This is ART!

I find it so fascinating to see different artists' styles. You can tell who is a better creative artist versus a better technical artist. Not saying a creative artist isn't technical or a technical artist isn't creative, but you can see the flow, the dynamics, the energy, the line placement and just know that creativity makes up most of the piece. The technical detail comes in later with the finished product. And when I look at someone like Travis (who is my favorite, BTW lol) you can see that he has some creativity at the beginning, but it's his technical genius that ties it all together and makes up the majority of his final pieces. Does that make any sense? Yet when I'm drawing, even though Travis is my inspiration, I find that I enjoy the sketchy Silvestri or Turner feel.

You should definitely try doing a video on Matt Lesniewski. He has a new comic coming out called Faceless and the family. His storytelling skills are incredible and his style is one of the most refreshing and unique to have come out in years.

I really never thought his batman book would come out I'm really excited to see him bring the heat. I hope he's drawing all of it, I've been burned too many times when he drops out mid story line (that also goes for every artist I admire).

My first comic as a collector was Uncanny X-men 239 (Silvestri) and my first comic "drawing" was copying Silvestri X-men. Even before I got into Jim. I can't wait for this! I even submitted samples to him directly at a Golden Apple apprearance (before meeting Sarah Becker at Wildstorm) and he said they guarantee a response either way. I never got one, but I guess the rest is history LOL.

Oh yea, I have an Uncanny X-men #244 page from the $20 bin too lol. It was even surprising to me back in the late 80's/early 90's that he was selling pages for $20. It's a pretty sweet page too, with nice Dazzler faces and some of the other X-women. It's yellowed a bit, but still holds up. And has the pasted lettering by Orzechowski. Looking back, I should have picked up more of them, but of course I was a broke college student back then and maybe didn't have much more foresight.

What worries me and I say that because I was an inker. He had to erase the pencils and that Multiliner pen he uses. The ink in it fades when you erase on top of that. I guess that is why you Rich used rapidographs on Leinil. Because there is real india ink in those pens. They won't fade when the pencils are erased. We are talking people that ink real original art. and not the Nutela kids that blue print stuff to ink.

Never liked Silvestri too much, way too sketchy for me even when he was using actual inkers, incredible inkers I should add like Joe Weems and Livesay. Maybe if he tried a different medium the sketchy look would look more aesthetic. His last comic I actually liked was Hunter-Killer, I actually recommended for you to check it out but you ignored the suggestion... thanks a lot Rich! Those pens are Faber-Castell Pitt pens.
