Marc said on his interview with Lorraine and it's amazing for his OBE, that his voice is better nowadays, but his persona and voice was so fantastic in the 1980's and sadly missed, but times do move forward and he's the expert and knows what actually works. He's great and without his musical influences, many would still feel lost. Marc's make up and not the visual obvious one, is so unique and complicated; it answers every question or at least makes you feel not alone any more in your understanding, but explores other areas which are just so scoring and unimaginable. He never ever made you feel anything but an observer and he always came across as innocent as possibly could be, so your trust in him was never questionable. He deserves everything, because he did that extra to get where he did and his music will mean so much more than the likes of Elvis. His lyrics and Ball's music romanticise the truth-value always did and we can all become part of that! Thanks.

Hits right in the heart. I guess it depends on what you may or may not be going through, or a current frame of mind one may, or may not have. This is one hell of a rendition/song covered wonderfully by Almond. Perhaps, a song like this, always remains true in some way, fashion, form, or reason throughout our time on this strange ball of a place called Earth.

I like Marc Almond doing music that (still) splits opinion. That is why I have followed his music ever since Tainted Love and I will be 50 next year. Artists should always follow what they believe in, and if along the way they become commercial and popular, so be it. Because a true artist never changes himself to suit styles or fashions. I'm hoping Nick Cave's next release loses the 20,000 fans, so he can go back to playing small venues again. Funny how these two singers were always slated in the music press, and now are held in such high esteem. And I'm guessing next year with the Soft Cell boxset release, a Soft Cell gig at Tate Modern with glasses of champagne and £150 tickets.

Just heard this song on Deutschlandrundfunk along with an interview with Marc about his new album. The first rock concert i went to (13 y.o.) was the The (Young) Rascals back in 67. Was shocked at the difference between the live sound compared to the studio versions played on the radio. Live sounded very hollow (only 3 musicians and singer in the Rascals). Back then not as many electronic options to reproduce the studio effects. Don't remember if they sang this song but nice to see a cover that does justice to the original.

Marlyne Skaff Depends on your own expectations of life and Marc is a different person than Cassidy. Just as we can read into more of what Marc does and dismiss Cassidy as just a nice guy who offers no answers to adversity, because everybody liked him, we listen and can actually become Marc in all his sincerity. We could never be like Cassidy or want to and this isn't a gay thing, because I'm not gay.

The chimp stole a candy bar and put it in a bird's nest in East Africa where a flying fish stole it and dropped it in a crocodile's mouth but the shop keeper saw him and he shouted at Ringo Starr and the crocodile ate the candy bar and he gave Mick Hucknall a can of beer to take on tour with him when he went to Mars.. 144 years later, Polly Freetazoop found Mick Hucknall's skeleton and she made lots of jewellery out of it and gave Peter Pan a Moon pie to eat as the Sun went down..😱😱😲😲😲😼😸

Mandy Humphrey " IF" I had attended his recent concerts!!! Let me just inform you that I have been attending his concerts since the days of Soft Cell way back in 1983! The last being his concert in Edinburgh for the Velvet Trail tour. I am quite aware of why he chose these tracks , but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a goddam awful album with very lazy and badly constructed orchestra arrangements. I admire your loyalty, but sometimes fan's need to be honest with ourselves, he has produced more dire albums than good albums in the last 20years, the Las being Open All Night and that was way back in 1999! He's just boring and flat these days.

I appreciate what you are saying but the man is 60! Maybe vocally Marc cannot 'cut the mustard' any longer. In October at Southend, he admitted that he can no longer hit certain notes anymore. He was the usual flamboyant and fabulous showman but some notes he simply couldn't hit. I just thought when you said 'crap' it was a bit harsh. But yeah I agree he is no longer the rebel we knew and loved but we all have to get old unfortunately. :)

This is absolutely terrible. The musical arrangement is awful, the video looks cheap and nasty and his singing, if you can call that singing, is flat and is unable to locate the bloody tune! He's way past his best and should seriously consider retiring and stop embarrassing himself with this Roy Orbison look. Who would have thought Marc Almond would end up being a sad old has been. It's sad and it's embarrassing.

Helen Wildy I appreciate your reply to my post regarding Marc Almonds latest video/single. I have been a Soft Cell/Marc Almond fan since 1982. I own all his albums/singles and cds, but everything he has produced since Open All Night has simply been dreadful! The two Russian albums were terrible and quite frankly the Velvet Trail album was a rehash of old ideas and when I seen him on this tour he was quite frankly flat and way out of tune. Upon hearing the new tracks from his latest efforts, I cancelled my pre-order of the album. He has run his course and quite honestly, run out of ideas, but to present a version of this song and sing so completely flat and then release it as a single, just beggars belief! He's no longer relevant and has now gotten to the point of releasing albums of greates hits and cover versions, now that's just sad and very irrelevant. Sometimes we fans need to know when to throw in the towel and admit he's finished and needs to call it a day while his reputation is intact.
