It might look like it's about collapse but this iconic boozer drags in punters from across the land - even if most of them fall in!
The Crooked House pub has a natural leaning effect which creates several illusions - including the ability for marbles to roll UPHILL.
Dubbed Britain's drunkest pub, the boozer in Dudley, West Mids, was built in 1765 as a farmhouse but became a pub in the 1830s with visitors flocking to see how one side of the building is 4ft lower than the other.
The pubs unevenness is because of subsidence caused by mining in the 1800s - but thankfully the building has been rescued and turned into a popular tourist attraction.

Rest in Peace - The Crooked House - victim of Crooked developers
This video is now historical record of a place we can no longer visit. Real shame.
The newest owners are CROOKED!
RIP beloved Crooked House .. gone but never forgotten 😢
Britain’s “wonkiest pub”, which dates back to 1765, has been gutted by fire just days after being sold to a private buyer for alternative use. News 6 Aug 2023 Hmmm ......... how very unfortunate........
Now it's been deliberately burnt down and destroyed. Sad.
New Owners were Crooked
So sad to see The Crooked House is now gutted due to fire damage one week after being sold. A piece of history gone for good ☹️

It's so sad to see this historic pub is now a pile of rubble. It was torn down sometime this afteroon/evening.
It got sold. Then it suffered a mystery fire. Then, two days later and without permission, it was totally knocked down. By order of the new owner. Mmm. So very sorry this happened.
I can’t wait till the new owners start building so I can go down and burn it
The crooked developers have been ordered to put it right. Or crooked.
So very Sad. RIP Crooked House/Glynne Arms, Himley.
What a great pub
Burnt to the ground. But deffo NOTHING to do with thenew owners. I repeat NOTHING TO DO WITH NEW OWNERS WANTING TO DEVELOP AND BUILD ON THE LAND.
Now demolished less than 48hrs after the fire....sad day
Just herd on radio that the pub has burned down
I got married there. Great place.

@@kevinwake8789 You're joking? What a loss! It's actually quite sad. Is it something to do with the new owner? What a real shame. I had a pint today with my Dad in 'Ye olde hob inn' In bamber bridge near preston, another lovely pub, beautifully thatched roof and the site of the 'Battle of Bamber bridge' In WW2 where the landlord banned all white American GI's for refusing to drink with Black American soldiers. Another piece of our marvellous history gone.

@justdaniel8764 Sadly not joking, it's just a pile of bricks on the pictures on many articles from local and national news. There is suspicion that it's something to do with the new owners, as it is coming out they're developers but apprently wanted to use this place as a wedding venue. The local mayor wants an investigation into why it was demolished as it looked sturdy after the fire, and less than 48 hours after the fire, also why piles of dirt were blocking the entrances upto the pub, fire fighters had to use over 40 feet of hose just to get to the pub as the engines couldn't get next to it. Picture of 1 engine with a pile of dirt blocking the lane going to the pub.

@@kevinwake8789 So it's been done purposely!!! somebody needs to be jailed for this, but seeing as our police farce only solve 5% of crimes i wont be holding my breath. Its actually quite sad to lose such an iconic building let alone another pub. Our history is being eroded daily and hijacked by the hour. Im sick of it. I wish i had the money to leave this country, i love it with all my heart but this ahitshow is not what our great/grandfather's fought for. Its actually sad to have to witness, but as im broke and living pay day to pay day im gonna have to stay and watch our once great nation crumble. It actually breaks my heart. Thanks for the info though. A real shame. 😢
How is it this building survived 300 years without the best construction knowledge and in our century with all the technology and safety measures we let it burn down😢

Good news the judge told them to rebuild it.
I find it odd that it was not a Listed Building, as it is, the owner has the right to tear it down (I can see the additional advantage of collecting fire insurance) Once the rubble has been removed, the owners have clear access to their landfill next door, where there was an ongoing dispute about road access The plot thickens I'd be interested in new developments from a police investigation
Crooked people burned it down.
I want to go to this pub. would love to see it👍❤😎💖💖💖💖

Hahah. Probably 🤔
Whoever burned it down is crooked
Haven’t been here since 1985
A criminal investigation should be started into the very obvious deliberate fire, access purposely block to prevent fire engine access. Then demolished without permission. Anybody could figure out I was all done on purpose, no accidents happened. Carly Taylor needs arrested and investigated for this very obvious chain of events. Do these people think that they'll get away with it, the amount of people they've angered this won't go away.
lets hope nobody buys the place just before it mysteriously burns down to make way for shitty apartments...

Burnt down And Bulldozed within a couple of days.
Owing to the climate emergency a much loved piece of local culture spontaneously combusted, to ensure nothing accidentally on purpose like this ever happens again, 20 story's of sustainable living pods with an extensive sprinkler system that uses recycled p:ss are proposed for the sight to provide accomodation to those that will enrich and diversify the area.. a blue plaque in tribute to the wonky pub will be available to view in the new central courtyard allocated for safe drug use and the toileting of illegal pets.
