I think the biggest selling point for this big boy is that it has the redesigned HDAMs making it measure really well (check out Audioholic's review for details). Also, it's built in Japan, has a toroidal transformer and a monolithic amp design.

One thing you gotta love is the fact that this receiver is built in Japan. Not many electronics are made in Japan anymore. If you’re a Denon fan, you gotta go with the AVR 6700, AVR8500, or A110 if you want your receiver made in Japan. The copper plated chassis plate on the SR8015 is a super nice touch!

Your tour through the back was just right for me, didn't assume I knew all the acronyms and didn't overload with "could do this or could do that," but hinted at options to look into later, after we first get set up to play the damn TV.

I will admit to being a simpleton when it comes to major AVR components, but your explanation of each of the outputs and inputs on this AVR was extremely educational for me. I struggle with using my current AVR and it is a simple Sony unit with just 5.1 capabilities. But I did enjoy you explaining all the functions on this Marantz unit. Still a top name in electronics. Awesome review! Would like to see how the 13.1 processor is being used. Kind of confused on how to use the 13.1 processor vs the amplification and to know why does Marantz and Denon show what appears to be 13 amplification on the receiver. How does it all work?

Good info! I finally learned thanks to you the purpose of Pre Outs. But what is actually output, is it an analog stream? Or is it a processed stream. Also need to know what is “Pure Direct”. Can you explain that please?

did you try input 4k hdr and let it output 8k hdr? it works? my denon can not, already returned my unit.

It’s not nearly time to worry about 8k ports. I have seen 8k content on an 8k television, and was pretty hard-pressed to see a significant increase in picture quality. And just a pet peeve of mine, “seven DOT one, seven DOT two...” saying POINT instead of DOT sounds much better. I actually have never heard anyone say “DOT,” when describing speaker channels.

I want one!! Has so many features, but how does it compare to my old Harman Kardon AVR7200 just as far as sound listening to music?

Need more info on the preout section and preamp mode like can preamp mode be used just on certain speakers like mains to disconnect the internal amps and add more power to the mains for 2 channel listening and if sub still works in this configuration. I count 13 sets of binding posts so how does one use all 13 after adding the external amp? Never too much information imho as I am coming from an old 5.1 avr that just wont die.

I have the sr6014 looking to add an amp to power 7.2.4 system but had to buy a 2 channel amp for my fronts you think that’s enough??

I have been unable to get any 8 k resolution to or from my 8k tv. There is no upscaling for 8k no matter what I am watching.

Great presentation, all of it useful. More than 7 channels and you lose directionality as well as power. It's more fun to hear the sound come from different places rather than blend. Even 5.1 is best for most homes

Funny when you see a new amp now, it's not about how it sounds ...it's about the video resolution throughput lol

Most 8k TVs have at least two HDMI 2.1 inputs. If you want both consoles to be connected all the time, one of the consoles must be connected directly to the TV and use ARC (or eARC) to get its audio to the receiver.

P.s can I call you and have somebody walk me thru the set up to make sure it’s right I’m not getting the boom sound like before

Regardinig audussy some people say they get better results doing it manually , Audussy did not get it right

I own Marantz SR8012 and used to have Denon X3500H. While these 2 models are not in the same class to be compared, I can admit that the SR8012 is a far superior product. It's much better than Denon for music and still comparable for movie. Denon produces clinical and clean sound while Marantz is warm, detailed and musical. Denon has more punch for movie soundtracks but Marantz still gives you a satisfatory result. At the end of the day it's a personal choice. SR8012 is a Mammoth reciever built in Japan using superior electronic parts.

Denon & Marantz have the same parent company, Denon is their consumer brand while Marantz is the premium brand.

Streaming surround sound? Streaming does not support surround sound. 4K players with audio output being phased out. OPPO 205 4K player no longer produced price for NOS $8000. and Panasonic DP-UB9000 being discontinued. Also HDMI cable has lower power for audio output. If you buy a surround sound system, there is no way to listen ? There is no info I can find that talks about this? Could I please get some comments about this.

Very disappointed on marantz larest models very poor quality sound amplipfier can not out put bass from 80hz to 20hz it is saturated on medium and poor on high frequency it's an amateur amp.
