It's always nice to see an integrated amp with just the barebone analog inputs. If you use a streamer or outboard DAC, you aren't overpaying for an unused digital section.

The CD50n is $300 more expensive than the ND8006 was. Inside both they are almost identical. For that $300 price bump I was hoping for SACD capability. That would have made the 50n a more well rounded product. Also, HEOS really needs to add Qobuz.

Love the pm 8006 for price and built in Japan ' love the midrange tone control as well And 8006 is an imaging monster But Marantz always does step it up ! Owned many Marantz Amps and the brighter sounding Denon ' thanks for the video ' I wouldn't mind getting a teleprompter 😊

Thanks for the review. I'm still looking though for a SACD + Class AB amp combo. There is an SACD 30n but is tuned for the Model 30 ... which is a class D amp (Hypex NCore) Would be nice to see an SACD 50n tuned for Model 50 (which is a class AB amp).

I am on the opposite side - wanted to accompany my Cinema 50 with an integrated amp, yet eventually allowing a stand alone usage. Model 50 being pure analog is a big let down for me. I don't understand constant jumps of Marantz between the analog and digital - just consider Model 30 vs 40n vs 50 vs 70s. With such a weak connectivity, Marantz pushes you to buy both units, which, in the end, is some $3600 and hence even more expensive, than 40n. Well, you get CD as a bonus, but many of my friends abandoned CDs long time ago.

Wow, that is a blast from the past. We remember those as needing TONS of power. 200 watts of solid power minimum. Still it is a bit confusing. 40n amp with 60 cd costs in UK 2200+850 3050£. 50 amp with 50 cd costs 3200£ (1600 each). As far as I can tell they removed the streamer from the amp and inserted in the cd, actually I watched the release of these online and they said that the cd mechanism is same as 60cd. The only plus I can see is that the 40n has only power amp inputs and sub out whereas the 50 has power amp in sub out and pre outs. The amplifier seems the same as the 40n.

Model 50 is the new version of the PM8006, 100% analogue... it is not based on model40n...

I was told by another KZread reviewer that the streamer in the 50n is significantly better than the one in the 40N and the separates are worth the price of admission.

Excellent review but seriously bro start with the price. Maybe thats the strategy to make me look. Anyway the cd unit looks worthy.

The cd drive looks cheap, made in vietnam. Still less expensive than the newest Teac VRDS 701
