Fan of Marantz, and definitely interested in the CINEMA 50. Two things will have to happen before I buy: have to find my Marantz SR7011 a new home, and Marantz will have to announce the cost to upgrade to DIRAC. Once those two things happen, sign me up. The CINEMA 50 seems like the perfect solution for my A/V system in a new room.

I've got a Samsung tv setup like this and there is about a third second delay between screen and audio, with no way to correct it apart from setting the Xbox to stereo output. It seems that the tv introduces the delay even when set to pass through. I've just upgraded my av receiver to a new one with 4/8k connections to fix it. Previous generations of Xbox had an optical out on the console, this only started being an issue on the new generation of consoles. Forums suggest LG tv's also have the same issue.

I dig it! Love the aesthetic like the Model 30 and 40 2-channel gear. I've thought the older models' appearances were starting to get a bit stale. And 4 independent sub outs at $2500 can't be beat. That, combined with the future Dirac Live upgrade very well may make this the best AVR under $3000.

This is nice- I like it. Dirac live seems like the biggest change. Aside from that, it’s really more of the same here. The focus being on more bells and whistles, more channels, and handsome aesthetics. It’s probably a very competent A/V receiver, but I just wish they would stop putting money into things most of us do not use, and instead focus on power supply, higher quality caps, and overall sound quality. My Denon X4100W still does a quality job with A/V, and I’ve heard newer units up to current with such diminishing returns in sound quality upon increased costs, I don’t think it’s worth upgrading at all, unless you just gotta have some particular feature set. Anyhow, love the presentation, and love the channel!

I think they've gone the other way. The older models had the more robust amplification. This makes me want to go with separates. I wish they would take it a step further, and separate the preamp, and processor, so you only have to upgrade processors. Obsolescence is a PITA.

Update on mine after about a month, added 2 small height speakers (cambridge minx) speakers to go with the BW 6 series 5.1 setup (might change these for BW M1's down the line but these sound pretty good so far). The upmixing modes for Atmos and DTX Neural X are very impressive - mostly sending the right sounds to the height speakers from 5.1 mixes. DTS Neural X upmixing seems a bit "hot" compared the Atmos upmixing, DTS NX seems to crank up the volume on the heights and introduce more mistakes in the mix while the Atmos upmixing sounds more natural. One annoying bug is that if you are streaming music using spotify connect with the TV off, it'll cut out every minute or so for a second - hopefully this is something that gets fixed in a firmware update because music sounds great on it and there is no reason to need the TV to be on considering you can control it with your phone. I've not figured out how to automatically make it switch the TV to game mode when playing a game so I'm having to manually set that every time (all devices are routed through the AVR).

The Denon claims more watts but the Marantz is cleaner and more balanced at higher volumes. Not sure why the 50 is the higher spec model vs the 60, Maybe they're trying to make a trend. Person ally, I see no advantage for my 12*14 theater room. IMAx meh,4 subs don't have the room, I am running 7.4.2 with a Yamaha 801 on the stereo front. Im interested in cinema 40 maybe av10 but the price difference is steep between two. Marantz processors were usually much better than AVRs due to poor signal separation in the latter. But now this 40 is made in Japan, would it mean with amps turned off to perform as good as AV10? We will see. Also will wait until Dirac update is available and seeing reviews of that. I stopped believing producers promises as quite often soon meant year or even years. Still DAC is being kept secret.

I can't really see why this is so much more than the 3800H when it is almost the same. I am really curious on Dirac implementation.. maybe that'll be the difference? Maybe Denon 3800H will have say, only full range Dirac (NO DLBC) While higher end Denon and Marantz 50 and better will have DLBC or maybe.. the soon coming SRC from Dirac? The increased price tags are insane. I'm so happy that I just 4 weeks ago received my SR6015 when I see the new price for the cinema 50... it feels a little bit like they want try how much they can rise the prices up. 4 subwoofers are not for dedicated cinema rooms. You can fill any nulls in your room with 4 subs. It doesn’t mean big output as it doesn’t add up that much. You can get small subs that will fit anywhere like kf92 or kc62 or SVS micro 3000. Difference is massive.

  • @dangr123

I also disagree about the subs. The more subs the better. The way sound waves work at those frequencies, the size of the waves, means that bass can get really weird in home theaters. With this receiver, people will be able to get 4 of the best subs they can afford and get better bass than one big sub for the same cost. I'm not going to go buy two more but I'm glad I can now tune the two that I have without having to get a MiniDSP.

@@techsamurai11 My AVR is only used to power my 4 Dolby surrounds and 4 Atmos speakers. I have separate high-end amps for the L/C/R, and Sub. My room is a multi-purpose room, and not designed for Home Theater, so room correction is important. I have Duntech Sovereigns for L/R (room was originally audio only) and Revel center, with different brand surround and Atmos. I'm hoping that Dirac Live would do a better job dealing with these limitations. I may also replace the 8 surround/Atmos to try for more consistent Timbre. So while this is relatively pricey, there aren't many cheaper options for Dirac Live that would match my particular needs. But thanks for the reply.

@@dlcphoto Don't Pioneer and Onkyo include Dirac Live? Never heard of Duntech - my god, do they weight 275lbs each? Yeah, I can see how room correction is important for you. I've been pondering the same as my living room is a cathedral ceiling and my system is at the bottoming part. I use Audyssey and interestingly it comes up with difference measurements every time but the results are always better than not having room correction and sometimes excellent. I wouldn't bother about the consistency of the timbre for the surrounds - there's so little sound relatively in movies from those channels and when there's sound, it's impossible to tell it apart - games would be more important as sound as you're the director and the score changes all the time as you turn left and right but you still need a voice in some cutscene for that to be noticeable. Atmos speakers will always be different than the rest of the speakers unless you plan to hang 4 Duntechs from the ceiling😄 What's the pricing for Dirac Live? Do we know?

  • @dlcphoto

    @dlcphoto

    Жыл бұрын

@@techsamurai11 Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the Duntech's are a beast for sure! I bought them in 1990 when we added this room to our home, and my orientation was audio and not video. And I think you're right that Onkyo has a Dirac Live option; haven't seen anything with Pioneer, but I could be wrong. As for using the same speakers and having ideal timbre matching, I do wonder how much difference it makes. But people more knowledgeable in Audio than me seem to think it's important. To do this fully, I'd have to replace the Duntechs, which was around a $14,000 purchase back in 1990. It is generally considered one of the most accurate speakers, at least in 2-channel audio. They were there when I modified the room (light control mainly) to video, so just kept using them. Lastly, my eyes are now a lot better than my ears (I'm 71!), so the idea that I might not be able to actually hear the differences does cause me think twice before making any audio upgrades!😁

How do these map to the 5000 and 6000 series? These actually come in silver which looks really nice 😄 Dirac will be too expensive.

The 60 is the replacement for the 5000 series and the 50 replaces the 6000 series, yes confusing numbers. We will post the Dirac cost once we know it. Thanks for watching

@@AudioAdvice That's good news - my complaints that the SR5200 used to offer a 5 year warranty while the triple priced 5015 offers a 3 year warranty, didn't go unnoticed ;-)

That has got to be the dumbest naming convention that will do nothing but piss off consumers who will naturally assume the 60 to be the better version over the 50 It’s like Wii/ Wii U thing with Nintendo levels of dumb naming

One less pass through so it will avoid any unnecessary delays. When gaming, you want the fastest possible response time you can get for a better experience.

@@AudioAdvice So the wohle front of the 50 is metal? Thats good because the older genration had plastic on the sides , only the mid of the front was aluminium. Even the 8015 had it like that.

You would pay for it one way or another. They either include it in the price of the unit, whether you want it or not, or set things up so that it's an optional extra for those who want to pay a little more. I think this is a fairer way to do it - many people will be happy enough with Audessey, Dirac is slightly more niche (having said that, I'm aiming for a new receiver in the near future and Dirac is a must-have)
