    Keep it coming! I want the 8805. Good friend of mine has an insane amount of gear and this prepro is his latest, but I get more info here. I'm still using the Denon X6300H, Ready for a 32bit unit. His set up sounds a little better than mine, but we have different speakers (Klipsch him/SVS me). I attribute it to his room (4 walls) and the 6 hights vs 4. BTW, I like the center speaker mount:)

    It is not measuring the distance, it measures how long a signal travels-and uses distance and level to equal all speaker. The signal from all speaker should ideally reach your ear at the same time.

    I'm really surprised that you had issues with the Audyssey setup. Distance, crossover and size have always been really accurate for me with at least 8 different Marantz or Denon AVRs I've had, but you're right, the level matching hasn't always been the greatest, especially with subs. What did Audyssey give you settings wise? I assume, based on the SVS Ultra specs, the two front channels would be set to small and a crossover of 40 or maybe 60hz and the center set to small and 60hz. Also, when I was remodeling and had my ceiling open to install height / Atmos speakers, before the ceiling was closed with drywall, (and each speaker had rockwool insulation installed around it) my speakers had an Audyssey calibrated crossover of 250hz (Which the owners manual said they should be at 60hz.) I did some other testing and sure enough, they weren't going below 250hz, at least with any authority. But after getting the drywall installed and running setup again, they were right at 60hz after the auto-setup. Also, my rear speakers generally have a higher crossover because of my couch height. That seems to block some of the bass from the rear so where my side firing speakers are set to 80 hz, the rears are usually 10 or 20hz higher. Finally, were the distance measurements bad with just your subs, or all your channels? My SVS Ultra 16 has built in DSD, and that always adds a significant delay so there's usually anywhere from an additional 8 to 15 feet more distance from the actual, physical location. Great video and please let us know which one you decide to keep.

    Thanks for the review, you just convinced me to get the AV7706 instead of AV8805a due to the fact that my apartment is too small for the 8805 although I'd like to future proof my system it just don't make sense to spend the extra $2000 for two extra channels. With more space I will check out the 8805 but LG just came out with a 240HZ gaming monitor so I know soon pre-amps will have to catch up to that technology TV's also.

    Love your videos man, and keep up the great work that you do. I wanted to ask you a question. At the 10 minute mark where you are showing the back of the Marantz connections, I noticed that on your 4K Blu Ray player, I’m assuming you still have UB-9000 from Panasonic, that you’re splitting the connection. One for video and the other audio. My question is that is this highly recommend in doing, or just leave one connection into the Audio one input and that’s it? Let me know your thoughts about it. Take care! :)

Another problem I have is the eARC, on my Sony 65” A9G tv has problems with sound and video last for a few seconds at a time while watching it. So, I had to turn off the eARC setting in the TV. Do you know what wrong with the TV and AV pre-amp? Please let me know

    Hey man had to give this hodgepodge of feedback on the RMC 1 and 8805 and look fwd to your decision. I chose the 8805 and have some general comments on the video and the units. 1. The screen on remote with AVP is for the zone control.. change zones and you switch zones it is NOT for sources, that’s why you need the screen there or you would need the app to change zone. 2. You can exit that terrible initial setup super easy immediately upon start up. 3. The emotive Rmc 1 was a joke for me the overheads and sides were never ever active (like 5% of other processors) so I returned it. Also it crashes more than I do in Forza and 4. It does not have zone 2 video 4, or a way to listen to music while playing hdmi sports/games and lacks many many features I can get in a sound bar, and the 8805.. like bluetooth , airplay (I believe that’s correct was while back)and speaker distance measuring and more stuff like that. 5 I think if you can deep dive and really use it for a week, call support multiple times and question things you can give robust reviews, I like the channel and believe in you, hence the feedback. 6. The marantz Dolby 5 upscaling is full 13 channels while the emotiva is 11(more like max of 7, see above comment) 6. HMDI switching great on marantz, 7. Not sure why your speaker distances were not spot on Audysee has been perfect the last decade and on my 8805. 8. Emotiva must be booted up LMFAO 8. On the 8805 2 channel music stinks and some punch is lacking but i think it’s decoding is magical for Dolby 5 tv shows. 9. 2 channel PURE Music was much better on the RMC 1 10. For some strange reason the RMC one actually does some “analog to digital” (opposite of a DAC) conversion with its analog XLR inputs. I think that is ridiculous because I want to use an external DAC with him MQA processing and better high res audio so why did they put those things in? Again bro this is the type of stuff that I want to see from you because I think your channel could blow up and be a good resource for all AV peeps. Surprising Conclusion : I actually am looking for something better, than the 8805, mostly for more channels, but all higher end systems are “glitchy” I tried storm Arcturus, Bryston, storm, blah blah so I can’t harp on emotive they are no worse. Anyhow I found all the demos of other system literally unuseable in a multi purpose living room so Choose wisely brother.

    As you have gone through the trouble to make a list make it seem like you should start your own channel and run it the way you see fit. Easy bro I’m a very detailed guy just can’t accept software updates as I had it early summer and it’s been out since thanksgiving. I can’t find a single company that has been able to do beyond 11 channels correctly besides Marantz and Trinnov. Maybe it’s better now but I’ll try monolith first. I really like your reviews, and the spare change guy, AV test, and audioholics guy. I ignore all the rest .....Sorry abt the tone I guess, I never ever comment and I probably came off ......anyway I’ve been working on this exactly analysis so I wanted you to get some more information as you prepare your next decision video and look forward to it. I want to replace my Behringer B2092A with a proper home cinema sub and I was looking at the Klipsch because its not too expensive. Its at the top of my budget though. I was going to ask in the giveaway video but comments are disabled in the giveaway videos for the sub. I searched for reviews on he subwoofer but I can't find a decent review on the subwoofer and your input would be appreciated.

    @@ThatHomeTheaterDude thank you. The subwoofer I have now is the same. It bottoms out very easily even though it has two 180watt 8' subwoofers inside it. Also the rectangle port is the same as the subwoofer I have. It creates port noise. My living room is 12' x 11" so I don't need to fill a big room either. I'll look at other subwoofers around the €500 price..

    A point on the remote control. I have an 8801 and here is the lowdown. It only says on the top menu of the remote anything you actually have connected to. If you go to any button on the remote that does not have anything connected to the corresponding jacks....it defaults to AVP. I have Bluray connected and Apple tv (cable/sat button) as well as a tv. All those work independently indicating those choices. Any other button which I have nothing connected to defaults to AVP on the screen. Hope this helps.

    The screen on the remote is pretty weird, but the reason its there is because you can kind of use it as a universal remote. So if you program it to control your cable box, blu ray, etc. the screen will change to say "Cable" or "blu-ray" so you know which device you are currently able to control. A while back i tried it as a universal remote and did not really like it.

I have the Amp and Pre-Amp side by side on the same shelf so I'm not worried about heat rising one to another, I am concerned about the weight I have on that shelf though lol but those Billy Bags were built like brick $h:* houses. • @clintstuckey

    @clintstuckey

    3 жыл бұрын

    Short answer, yes...for the analysis it does, turn them back up afterwards. Long answer: Yes, it does that so that it can calibrate them properly with other speakers, usually at 75db of volume per the mic. It's pretty normal for almost anyone to turn them back up afterwards to proper volume per your personal taste. As humans our ears sometimes play tricks on us, namely bass at lower volumes seems much quieter, versus listening to it at reference volume. Thats why a lot of people use a MiniDSP 2x4HD (or other EQs) to build in their own "house curve" or preferred settings when they EQ their subs, or without one, using Dynamic EQ in the reciever/prepro to do the same.

  • @qua7771

    @@clintstuckey I thought it was odd because my previous Marantz AVR with the former version of Audyssey didn't require such a low sub volume adjustment. • @clintstuckey

    @clintstuckey

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@qua7771 I ended up setting mine at either -11.5 or -12 under Speaker Levels, thereafter exporting one output to a MiniDSP 2x4HD, where I then apply EQ, Delay, and Crossovers and Compressors as necessary all setup through using REW and a UMIK-1, and then all four outputs from the MiniDSP go to each of my four subs in the room. I ended up settling on turning it way down on the levels in the Marantz and the subs (during setup) and then turning things back up on the subs (level matched to taste) on the subs gains (once all done). The reason I did it this way was otherwise one of my Rythmik FV18 subs would occasionally clip when played at loud levels and trigger its protection circuitry and I would have to unplug/replug, etc. Lowering it in the Marantz solved this, no more clipping- plenty of bass when playing, but had to turn them down to almost non existent levels during the Audyssey setup process, as it is trying to match them at 75db to the rest of the speakers.

    You said the Marantz got your speaker size and crossover wrong. Maybe you should educate your viewers in what is really going on during the setup process. Audyssey measures the IN ROOM response of your speakers. Audyssey then passes the -3dB frequency point to the AVR. The AVR manufacturer has set a Frequency Decision Point (for Marantz it is 40Hz). If the -3dB point is above the FDP, speakers are set as small, if it is below, they are set as large. If set as small, the AVR sets the crossover at the next higher value above the -3dB frequency point, so the increments available in the AVR will determine the exact crossover setting. So if you feel short changed because your full size speakers measure as “small”, that’s your room messing with your set up.

Many Atmos mixes for some reason ignore the wides, including some notable reference quality discs like the 4K Saving Private Ryan remaster, Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, or Mission Impossible: Fallout. If you check out the AVSforum Atmos thread you'll see lots of discussion. Disney 4K Atmos mixes are notorious for basically being "fixed" 7.1.4 mixes, they do not scale to higher channel counts like Atmos is supposed to. You can verify this for yourself, set the Marantz or Emo to be running a 9.x.x speaker config and put your ears up to the wides during Endgame, you'll hear lots of silence. Easier to verify if you can turn off the amps for the other channels and "solo" the wide speakers.

    WOW, all this info is really good if you have a dedicated home theater room, if you have like most people have a family room which they set up a home theater system its a total waste of money if you ask me, but if you have a dedicated home theater room with the right seating per say and you want a two subwoofer set up and a dedicated 13.1 system and two zones so one is the home theater and the other is a control system for music throughout the home, then fair enough, but in saying this none of the current movies are with atmos or IMAX they are all DTS and dolby Master DTS and now 4 k UHD TV systems, so again if you want the best affordable rv blue ray 4 k system and you have a dedicated theater room and can afford the speakers and leather recliners seating for say 8 people with the rear seating raised as well, then go ahead, but also its very expensive were talking about hi quality speakers and then a set up which will last a very long time, till they bring out 8k and 8 k sound system instead of the 4 k type sound or even atmos which again is so far the benchmark ? I till remember when i first brought my first CD which was the soundtrack of the movie midnight express and the CD was recorded from DDD sound system processing and yet every CD/DVD blu ray has never ever come close to how it sounds its that simple, maybe 4K UHD Music or soundtrack discs would, but the main difference is i brought this Cd over 35 years ago, so tell me why the record distributors are still selling CD's and are all AAA analog to analog to analog sound transfers or processed, yet your paying for a CD for music which is not and never ever going to be the same as when they first produced CD's with DDD encoding ?

    RAMA RAO #1 people don’t care about my sound demo videos because they complain that it’s not accurate watching over the internet. #2 I am doing this demo side by side with the Emotiva rmc-1. #3 this video is titled as a REVIEW not sound demo.

    I completely agree. sound demos online are annoying. They provide no realistic feedback for the listeners.

    Even though marantz and denon is the same company so too speak top of the line denon is better

    You might have those backwards, traditionally the Halo line is Marantz, not Denon. Denon doesn't even make any standalone Pre-Pros, though currently I would give the edge in the receiver world between the two to the Denon. Although they both have their own sonic characteristics, much of them rely on the same software, licensing deals and hardware components internally, as they are shopping from the same parts bin for much of their components.

    1. Agreed on the remote, not great. The back lighting is super dim on my 7705 remote. 2. MultEQ XT32 is not great either. Absolutely had to make adjustment after. 3. I used an AC Infinity fan on my 7705.... does get hot and adds to the heat in the room after a few hours. 4. The CEC is a great feature. I use the Fire TV Cube w/voice commands and everything turns on/off 5. 8:18 Winner winner chicken dinner!! 6. If I ever swapped to the 8805 I would try the front wides. 7. Labels are a great idea when you have that many wires. 8. Dreamedia is awesome!

    I'm surprised at how nice the remote is with my sr7012, but I have a harmony elite so I almost never use it.

    The complaint of the little screen on the top of the remote, it is to let you know if you are in main, zone 2, zone 3... nit pickey dude! Everything you disliked is pickey! People want the perfect world! Not happening!🤪 Hands down, Marantz over Emotiva.

    @@ThatHomeTheaterDude so, your word is gospel? Look, everyone has a preference. Emotiva has glitches. You also have to manually load updates. All this upgradable stuff is at a big cost and you have to send in the unit. Forget that. Marantz updates take care of itself. I've owned Marantz products as far back as 1976 and never had problems with their products. Love the sound quality. Marantz over Emotiva IMO.

    Dude: Who do you think you are? You pass judgement on those who: “don’t think like you!” How about an 75 year old who wants to go beyond his means to be able to hear the music that he has loved and created all his life! Marantz and a great dealer are all you need - NOT YOUR APPROVAL!

Mostly to future proof for the PS5, Xbox Scarlett and nVidia GeForce 3000 series RTX gpus which will fully suppot hdmi 2.1. 2.1 cables are pretty affordable. If I am going to drop this kind of money I need to ensure it will be a long term value. I have a SR7012 receiver with Outlaw amps right now but still rocking 1080p. I plan on getting the 65" C9 oled when it drops to less than $1500 when the C10 comes put.
