After reaching the top octave in those four-octave arpeggios in the Paganini, she does not gloss over any notes coming down the fingerboard as so many other fiddle players do. Maria is an amazing artist - she does whatever she wants with the violin. I'm glad her teacher (Boris K.) has not gotten in the way.

Maria doesn't need the Menuhin Competition to have a great career. They need her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo Maria. You have always been the brightest star in the sky!!

Wait, that is certainly not the case. Why would you disrespect the Menuhin Competition like that? The Menuhin would still be here this year even if the winners of the past years didn't exist. Literally speaking, the Menuhin doesn't need any single competitor because they change every year anyway.

@@Viewer13128 Usually a competition is there to help a soloist launch a career with concert engagements to follow, except in her case she already has a lot of concert engagement with pretty top orchestras, with a del gesu loaned to her by a big foundation. I'm guessing that's what the comment meant to say.

I have been listening to her since before Menuhin competition and she is much more than a violinist with good technique. She is a true musician. Love her playing!

I feel bad for all the other great violinists competing this year, cause how can they compete when you have a girl like this in the competiton😂 it’s gg I’m calling it here that Paganini 5 was insane and that contemporary is just flexing her insane tone on everyone like bruh😮

I don’t think you should call it so quickly because it seemed like the judges in her previous competitions didn’t like how she was putting so much of her personality into her playing which is a bit unconventional for some styles of playing depending on the composer. I thinks it’s between Maria and Hana Chang but I still think it’s too early to call. A lot of people have criticized Maria for not staying true to the composers’ intention but she is still very good. The judges have very different perspectives than the audience.

@@c.j.6455 With total respect to critics, showing her personality without diminishing the pieces or taking away feeling to put virtuosism is what makes her interpretations so memorable. Composers compose but musicians interpret, and her interpretations are sensational.

She has already had quite a few engagements with top orchestras in various venues, and is arguably the most internationally recognised out of all the competitors. Regardless of her placement here, I expect she'll go on to have a big career. But a good result in a competition such as this one can still benefit her and the development of her career.

@@philipq6906 As things stand a top 3 finish wouldn't surprise me. Even that is far from certain though. You would have said the same before the first round at CMIM and she didn't even make the semi final. Let us just wait to see how they all perform in the next round - and of course who gets through. Prediction of the final outcome will then be a little less speculative.

Having discovered María's so wonderful and emotional playing violin just a few days ago, I wish her all all the best for this violin competition. It is so amazing how María masters the different demanding pieces in an easiness like a colibri flies. Looking forward to hearing María play in concert somewhere in Austria - in Graz or Vienna.

Bach is beautiful and some of the best I've listened to...Seamless phrasing.. She's on point playing the heck outta pag#5!!!! N with the intended bowing too!!! That's gonna be hard to beat!!! Brava!!!!

I could not help comparing her Bach to Christian Tatslaff 's (years older) wowing the whole open air audience with his private meditative soundscape with the same opening piece as encore... I think the best of his playing. Maria has even more luscious sound and both could refer to each other's in delicacy and bowed phrasing ...from my observer's point of view... what an impossibly high level of achievement in one so young. Bravo 👏

Intonation, Rhythm, and Sound. That's all there is. You would be surprised how many details there are that you can "nit pick" after listening to the same video twenty times. After the fabulous technique, it's simply charisma and imagination. You either have it or you don't..... If God didn't provide the charisma and imagination, you can still make a living playing the fiddle, but you will never be on top.....
