Maps, Charts and Timelapses of Fagradalsfjall volcano eruption from the start (Updated with May)
This is the first part in an attempt to make a complete reconstruction of alle the major events with visual material included. This is from the start to April.
I am looking for feedback on what to do ? Should i include the complete timelapses or just small bits that are interesting ?
Have asked permission for the usage of materials but am still looking for more video material that i can use. I will allways credit the makers and if anyone has the feeling that i am abusing any material please contact me and let me know.
Special Thanks go out to
• Dr. Benjamin Henig fort he use of his wonderfull maps
• The IMO for all the webcam images and public images and movies
• The RUV for the public clips

This is really excellent! It's the first video I've seen that helps us see how the volcano evolved spatially, and connects the small original vents with what became the monster one. I understand what's been happening much better now, thanks to the mix of video and maps, especially as the vantage points keep changing.
Wow, this perspective and hindsight is just excellent, so important. Thank you!
Fascinating to watch!! Need to watch several times to see everything that is happening. Thanks!
Excellent diagrams, maps and photography- very helpful for those of us not familiar with Iceland. Thank you
The time lapse video really shows the growth of the cone and shield.
Thank you for posting! I love watching!
Thank you very much, all that work you did really gave such a great understanding and overlook ❤️

Excellent ! Thanks, gives a better perspective of it’s current activity.👍
Thank you so very much for compiling this!!! I have been watching this since the beginning and it is so nice to see the evolution put into this type of format with the maps and footage and all the information in one video. Looking forward to more. This was just awesome!!!! Great Job!! Thank you again!!!

Thank you for your feedback
I think a complete timelapse would be awe inspiring
9:39 and later (till 10;16) : I like to observe how huge blocks of solidified lava (hundreds of tons) are slowly but inevitably transported by the fresh lava flow. Very impressive !

Me too! I was watching extensively and missed those lava boats going downstream there LOL.
I’d thought to do a video along these lines, but you’ve done all the hard work for me! Excellent stuff! 🌋👍

It is very fun to do, but it takes a large amount of time indeed.
Excellent work! IMO, continue the series just as you did this one. Maybe a separate video of just the highlights at the 6-month mark (coming up soon!). I really like the shot where the original geography is outlined so that you can see just how much lava has been deposited. Thanks for all the many hours you have spent on these. YOU ROCK!!
Thankyou so much for all your efforts! I've been greatly looking forward to seeing a clip like this and you've done a tremendous job of it! .... I was entirely mesmerized throughout and if I am to share anything about our favourite volcano with new folk, this will be a no brainer to go to!! 😎👌💗
Great video and nice to see Bob the original volcano and his offspring vents.
I like the way you don't piss about . great vid and well put together. your knowledge is fantastic I think, and easy to understand, It's a big SUB from me.
I just discovered this video - personally, I APPRECIATE the complete timelapse video. It’s a wonderful historic record it real earth changes! These are VERY important records. Most people have no awareness of REAL powers of our earth and how quickly it can be changed. THANK YOU!! ❤️👍🙏👏
I like what you did here, keep up the good work!

WELL DONE !!! We can see the evolution of the eruption. Good work !!!
Amazing to se the Earth actually "growing" and new land being formed thank you for the perspective and the vid. :)
it's the most informative video, including maps and other information, not only lyrics like the most ones! Thanks a lot!
Brilliant video, really explains what's happened. Thank you
Thankyou for all your hard work!
Thanks! Very insightful for someone who has not seen anything other than a few photos of this eruption.

Love what you do!!
Excellent work and feedback! Very informative and complete! Kudos!
Thank you for this !
magnificant. continue doing what you are doing
Very nice compilation
Watching the lava spread down into the beautiful curves of the Meradilir made me realize that the hills surrounding it were all once vents, too. So it's not covering up anything, it's just adding to the beauty.

That is correct. Every inch of new lava is coming on top of old lava from centuries ago
This is the video I’ve been looking for! First thing I’ve found giving a cradle to grave overview. Hope the later parts are available!

awesome!!
15:20 : it is interesting to observe, in the left lower corner of the image, the surface crust of the lava flow rising up ant then subsiding.

@@volcanotimelapses8311 I already observed, with the same great interest, this phenomenon of thickening of an apparently ended flow of lava on your video of the 20th june : kzread.info/dash/bejne/gIKG0Mp8pNSaodY.html (starting at 0;59, this slow rise of the whole surface is absolutely stunning)
5:29 is my early understanding of the system, I could visualize everything... 8:07 - the original G-valley intimate/mini-viewing is flooded, and the mid-fault Rag/Nar source is filling M and M-south, N is still not touched. Theatre Hill is still accessible. 11:53 - more of the same (soooo many cubic feet) you can now imagine Theatre Hill might get cut off soon, and when will N valley be breached!? (May-ish) 14:09 berms from M into N, incursion into M from G cutting off Theatre Hill seems imminent.(late May) 16:12 berms at the bottom of M have overflowed, and Theatre Hill is cut off by accumulation at the bottom of G, see also outflows from M at top end as everything fills up.

The flow that killed of the hiking path to Theatre hill is next on roll. Working on that part right now. And the big flows on Natthagi and Meradlir as well. It so wonderfull how much we can see up close from this volcano.
fantástico.

A good reference to the disappearance of the small hill to the SE of NAR at the end of May. If only the tremors weren't shaking around all of the letters in the names which makes it hard for people in the US to pronounce. ;-) We need a map so fans can predict the location of the next vents. I am thinking about 1.5KM due west of NAR as the deep fissures tunnel under Fagradalsfjall. Curious how deep the valley it is emptying into is, since the lava front has stopped progressing. It may well be that former valleys become future hills, as is the case here in the Pac NW (Oregon, Washington)

A lot of hills will be created for the future. That is sure. After this eruption rain and snow will carve out the new landscape. We are now wittnessing the building up.
Thank you ! It is more interesting but on video everything will not clear but you point out many facts about height incresement.
this is cool, thank u for the work u put into this. from where it is sitting today how much farther is it to the ocean/ gulf? - not sure what to call it = thank u for the work 👌👌💕💕🦜🎶🎶🎶
Thank you for your work on showing where it all started. But how thick the lava is. Watching that hill close to the volcano slowly disappear. How trail after trail blocked by relentless lava. Now new lava fountains? As they say ----- Stay tune--‐--

Exatcly the reasons i wanted to do somethin like this. We tend to forget what happend and now we have a small reference on the past of this eruption
Nice video. I did play it at 2x speed--you might want to make it at that rate by the time you get to later in the year.

Problem is that some want it speedy and some others would like bigger and longer pauses for the stills.

I visit your site every day along with several others to see the latest on the volcano and no one has posted anything new, even though I can see on the live feed that the weather has improved and there is a lot of activity. Why is no one posting anything new?
