Maple Syrup Part 4 | Boiling Sap | Les Stroud

Ойын-сауық

As many of you know I tap my own trees for maple syrup boiling. It’s a phenomenal experience my son Logan and I do every year. Here is my neighbour Glenn Skidmore who is very much a master at the process. I thought it best I “tap” into him to get this instruction presented properly!

My family has been trekking in on foot and hauling out buckets on a tobbogan for the good of gold for a decade now. A very magical time of the year. And some of the best smokey flavoured maple syrup you cant buy anywhere. Would love to have you join us for a day next march Les, snowshoes and solitude. Cheers Eh!

We made gallons and gallons every spring. I remember lugging all the sap tapping the trees and of course the fun part throwing the syrup in the snow and making candy! That always happened with a few spoonfuls.

Nice to see the modern way of doing this, when I was young I remember being shown how to do this, was the traditional way at the time, found the process highly interesting back then. Considerably more tech involved these days with it, but good to see some of the old way still getting shown.

I drink maple syrup straight from the bottle. I love it so much, a friend gave me a giant 100% Organic maple syrup for Christmas. One of my all time FAV gifts from my lifetime ( I'm 58)
