Maple Syrup Part 5 | Filtering Bottling | Les Stroud
Ойын-сауық
As many of you know I tap my own trees for maple syrup boiling. It’s a phenomenal experience my son Logan and I do every year. Here is my neighbour Glenn Skidmore who is very much a master at the process. I thought it best I “tap” into him to get this instruction presented properly!

Where can I get some of Glenn’s syrup?? Been following and no info yet.....
So awesome, this past March was first time for us making Maple Syrup here in Thunder Bay,Ontario. Had so much fun doing it. Filtering quite important and you do lose a little with filtering but sure makes all the difference ridding and nitre sand and minerals for sure. great job and awesome information moving forward to this up and coming March maple season......Fred
I just know this awesome dude gifted you a bottle of syrup. Great content man, thank you!
This has been a really fun series to watch!
I can see why pure, quality maple syrup done the old way is so expensive! I have never tasted syrup done in this way! I am sixty years old, and not long for this world! I would like to have some of this before I go!
this series is amazing, it really makes you appreciate those morning pancakes that much more
What I wanna know is, is this man and everything he owns just constantly sticky?

tbh i imagine it isnt since its always boiling until its bottled. what im curious about is why he licks the spoon and puts it in the syrup again multiple times lol or atleast it seems that way
My grandfather used to make maple syrup when I was a small child. I don't remember a lot about it except that I loved it.

Only thing I learned was that 40 gallons sap = 1 gallon syrup
Liquid gold by my reckoning!
Hi Les. Nothing's better!
Love these maple syrup videos
@Les he is doing the same thing my PaPaw did for his shine up in appalachia. So smooth.. and clear.. people declared he was joking..it was just water.. til the whoa kicked in.
Makes me want to eat Kraft Dinner, watch Terrance and Philip, and begin my sentences with "Sorry". As is tradition.
This is the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen

Lol the most Canadian thing I've ever seen was a video on a parcel theif that pulled his car into the victim's driveway, after the guy got stuck in the giant snowbank while trying to escape (because the homeowner was right at the door when it happened) the guy offers help to the theif to push him out, tries to tell him how to dig in better with his tires to get grip... even offered the theif a shovel!! 😂🤣😂
I don't know! No information about this syrup production or information about the person who runs it or about his product. He said at the end it was Sky Hills Red Label and an internet search turns up absolutely nothing about it! Would love to know if he sells direct or if there is a place to even remotely buy some! I am not one for purchasing real maple syrup but after watching Les's production of this short film, it has me intrigued to try it! Muskoka region, Temagami region, where Les?
Very cool
Quite the craft to make it. It takes alot of patience and work... but so worth it in the end. I also would love to purchase some. Does he have a website to order from?
Nice jacket 👍🇨🇦👍🇨🇦

Hey - I'll bring the Waffles; you bring the syrup. 😁👍

Part 6 | The Taste Test
I like your jacket Bruh
My only question is how do I get my hands on a bottle?
Now I know what I did wrong when I attempted this.
Awwww.....all I've got is generic Canada Grade A in the fridge.
Is it supposed to be so watery?

At 220 degrees Fahrenheit yes.
I am confused Bear Grylls says that he gets the best syrup at the hotels he spends his nights at while filming man vs wild....
More bigfoot please

That is dependent on your elevation above sea level.

All three above corrections are factual.

it depends on altitude, pressure, etc... Yes in general that is is correct... but he is doing precise chemistry. Which is why he is checking what the EXACT temp is on the day in his conditions.
don't use a plastic cap.
