When the Leafs scored in the 3rd, I thought 'this is over, we got this'. When the Bruins scored a minute later, I thought 'we're done'. Because the Leafs can't score goals when it matters in the playoffs. When it really matters. When the pressure is the highest, when everything is on the line -- the Leafs can't score goals. The only surprise in OT was how quickly the Bruins scored.

@@matteodilullo2795 Fair point, but counterfactual. Samsonov played well enough to give them a chance, if the Leaf forwards could score more than one goal. They couldn't score that goal. Same as last year. And the one before that. And so on. No clutch players.

@@joelillman534 Alright, fair enough. I just wanted to highlight the failure of the Leaf offence to produce points in the playoffs. They have to score. Just disappointed, is all.

Only the Leafs can hold the game to 0-0 for 50 minutes get one and immediately let one in. I have never seen a team lose a lead more times within a minute of getting one more than this team. It has happened like 20 times this season.

This is typical Samsonov; every time Leafs score a goal, he would give up a goal right away. Tonight was perfect example; although you can’t blame Samsonov for loss, he just played well enough to lose, he doesn’t make the save when the team needs it As soon as I heard Woll wasn’t playing, I knew it’d be hard for the leafs to win.

Benoit had an unbelievable game.

Samsanov didn't lose this game, lol. Also, pasternak blew by marner and Rielly was standing still.

Pretty soft first goal right after getting the lead, you need a save there but also can’t blame goalie in a 1-1 OT game. Can never fucken score in playoffs it’s always the other goalie standing on his head and Sammy, Freddy letting in softies

Marner would be great playing with Ovie in Washington. It would give Ovie not only to break the record next year but would extend his career by about 3 more seasons.

Didn't want to give up the 5 hole. Since Pastrnak received that pass on his backhand going that fast that was by far the biggest threat. The backhand-forehand-backhand that he did was a very low percentage play, especially when moving the puck quickly through the rough ice in the crease. 9 times out of 10 that puck jumps over his blade/he does it too slow/he jams the puck into the pads/the defenseman disrupts him, and every Bruin fan screams "why didn't he just shoot it!?".

See above why the never eat humble pie. They get paid well and continue to generate wealth due to their monopoly on the region. Ottawa is the better team at this point. Break up the monopoly of control and see how the Leafs organization behaves.

I'm 60. Probably the person who's watched the most Leaf games that doesn't remember the last time they won the cup. I'm numb. I don't get myself up anymore just because of the same result year after year. I'll believe it when I see it. I'll wait till then and never get excited again.

That's what I've been doing. I watch....but I don't put my heart into it anymore because you can see the failure coming a mile away. Been saying it for years, as long as Marner is on the team making 11 million, they have no chance of competing in the post season.

Love you guys!! Wise and real. Thanks for being the cathartic companionship with the rest of us miserably passionate fans who keep coming back. None of us can believe it. My wife and I went down to Toronto to be around the energy and it was electric and pure blue downtown. Shared sorrow doesn’t seem to reduce the weight of it but you guys make it bearable. I get that Samsonov isn't a great starting goalie for a team that hopes to contend, but I really don't like the disrespect he gets from leafs fans. He's the guy we have. He's the only goalie I've ever seen win a series for the leafs. He battled back to even get the starting position this year. It's probably for the best he moves on but I genuinely loved him as a leaf.

Bruins fan here, I don't like the leafs but good series you guys played hard last few games. I know how it feels to lose I hate it for ya. Leafs jerseys are badass tho. Next year.

There’s no way they should resign Marner. He is an absolute playoff failure every year. He’s too small with no toughness (physical or mental) to offset his lack of size. Get rid of the two Toronto kids JT and Mitch… build around Matthews and Nylander… get big D on the blue line. Reilly is also a joke - this is the only team in the NHL where Reilly can be considered a #1 D.

@@giii7599 - Sadly, I’m a Leafs fan yes. But make no mistake - I’m not giving Matthews a pass. Agree 100% with what you said about #34. It’s all four of the core four - they are useless when the going gets tough in the playoffs. Matthews had 69 goals sure… but that’s when he gets to play the likes of the Habs, Sabres, Sens, Red Wings and all those bottom feeding teams. Turn up the playoff intensity and the core four consistently have no answer. And it’s not just vs Bruins apparently. It’s Columbus, Habs, Tampa, Florida… sometimes I wonder, if they somehow let the Sharks or Ducks into the playoffs despite their regular season records, and Sharks/Ducks played the Leafs in a seven game series, the Leafs would lose to them as well. It’s like no matter who the other team is, that team brings a playoff intensity that the Leafs’ core 4 cannot match.

Leafs talk was amazing - will miss it. In the end, I just hope that the fact that they came so close doesn’t hide the fact that changes are needed. With so many hard cap dollars in four forwards… the fact is this team cannot score in the playoffs. How many more examples are needed? Changes are needed at the top. This philosophy of roster construction cannot continue. Whenever they can, they have to get rid of Tavares and Marner… even if they walk for nothing, the cap space gained is a win. Keith Pelley - you are the only hope. Please do the right thing.

Thanks to Willy, Knies and the unsung heroes of the bottom 6, our 2 goalies, the D, Domi and Bertuzzi. Matty gets a pass on his injury. Marner, Johnny and Rielly thanks but you should be gone with Keefe and Shanny.

On any other team, guys will play with legit broken limbs, or a punctured lung, broken sternum, etc, etc... First off appreciate the show all year long boys u guys killled it. I always go back to the reason why Ryan O’Reilly didn’t want to stay here and I strongly believe it was because he got a taste of this leadership and knew that they definitely do not have what it takes to win a Stanley cup. Why else would he leave he was so excited for the opportunity to win a cup for his dad who is a lifelong leafs fan and he knows how much a cup would mean for the city. This core is made up of a bunch of immature kids who only care about how big their contract is and have zero heart or character in big moments. They need to realize that if they actually won something in Toronto they would be immortalized and make even more money than not winning and taking up 50% of the cap. I am so done with this team and I’m expecting huge changes like definitely shopping soft Mitch Marner who displays no accountability and is a certified ghost In the playoffs every single season. Reilly also should be held accountable bc he was horrible this playoffs but I doubt the leafs can move him. Also Matthews better have a goddamn broken bone or something because he was sure playing like it tn and for every game other than the first 2 of the series. It is truly unbelievable how unlucky the leafs got with this greedy soft privileged draft class of players who have zero heart or passion to win anything for a fan base who is severely desperate for a championship. Those 4 better take responsibility for this loss as they were outclassed, outworked and out skilled by a team that had nowhere near the supposed talent of the core 4. 45 million dollars for 12 points in 7 games is just completely unacceptable and absolutely disgusting from guys who insist no change is needed. Owen Power for Mitchy Marner. Both teams get better. Power still needs time, but he's a stud in the making. When he turns 25 he'll be a perennial top defenseman.

Kampe blew it, he just stood there and let Lindholm shoot. He didn’t even try to block the shot…

I think Boston goalie made some great saves and Toronto goalie let a soft goal in overtime but he too was great. I have to give a hand to Toronto came back to force a game seven. Feel bad for Leaf fans. See u all next year.

During the third period the realization came to me that it would be better in the long run for the Leafs to lose this game. Beating Boston and losing to the Panthers would give a flawed positive just like last year. Losing will force necessary changes.

Here's some stats Matthews - 55 GP 23 goals 25 assist - not good enough. Marner - 57 GP - 11 goals 39 assist - primarily a playmaker (not goal scorer) Nylander - 54 GP - 20 goals 23 assist - not good enough JT - 38 GP w/Leafs - 12 goals 12 assist - not good enough The core has most of the blame, they don't know how to get it done when it matters. Goaltending helps but if they could score a bunch of goals more than the other team they would be a team that is worthy of playoff status.

I can’t but watch this series and think that no matter who wins they are going to get run over by Florida unless they play a lot better. Great discussion guys.

​@brianweir9885 do you even watch Leafs hockey? This guy doesn't "playmakes" in the playoffs. That's what he's good at right. He's the set up man for Matthew or JT but he doesn't show up. And that style of play doesn't always work in the playoffs.

I knew it as soon as Nylander scored.....T- 1Min and counting for Boston's tie goal lol. I hate it when Sammy's in net because I just know he lets weak goals we all wish he would save. It's frustrating because his team plays worse in front of him. It's day and night difference when Woll's in net.
