Celebrini could earn up to 4 million with bonuses and become a restricted free agent a year earlier, or he could play in college and risk a career-ending injury. Which is more likely, delay his career by one year or receive life-changing money as an 18-year-old?

Mr Marek, I don't like the way this conversation, re: Iginla, is going. You're expecting the kid to have the same ability as the father. Just a second. A 29 yr old Captain Nieuwendyk was traded from the Flames to Dallas for Corey Millen, previously from the Rangers, Los Angeles, New Jersey and finally the Stars. In addition to Millen, the Flames got some prospect first round player by the name of Iginla, who was drafted 11th overall in that year's draft, 1995. How many 18 yr old kids have been drafted since 1995, without the name Iginla attached to their jersey, who didn't make it and were drafted in the first round? So essentially, Captain Nieuwendyk was valued at Millen and a prospect 1st rounder? In today's age, Stamkos for a journeyman player and a first round prospect?

Calgary was busy dumping salary They were lucky to pick up and develop Iginla in the process. They weren't in full tear down in 92 when they moved Gilmour and Macoun for Leeman and Michel Petit. They had dumped Colin Patterson. they dumped Leeman in 93. Makarov. Berube. Gary suter. Al Macinnis. Then the Nieuwendyk dump in 95. Housley who they got for Macinnis now is sent off for Tommy Abelin. They moved Robert reichel for Marty Macinnis and then Macinnis for Jeff Shantz and Dubinsky. They dropped Kidd and Gary roberts. They Moved Nylander for Nazarov. dingman and Fleury for Belak and Corbet. They moved Marc Savard for Zanullin. It was a decade long cost cutting tear down. Very few wins in that mess Iginla may have been it.

Funny back and forth about Celebrini! But I kind of agree with Elliot (maybe not loser thinking though 😅). But what is Celebrini going to gain developmentally from going back to BU? He’s proven he can dominate at that level and imo the best way to continue development is to keep challenging a player and taking them out of their comfort zone. Comfort breeds complacency and stagnation.

Does the nhl have rules about "NIL" for prospects under team control? Could Celebrini go back to BU and get like $7M from SJS to be their "east coast social media ambassador" under the current CBA to entice him to push his elc?

Feels like first time in a long time where half of the pod cast isn't about the leafs. Good to see some diversity of topics. I watch a lot of Nux, Flames & Oil, 7x7 min for Lindholm, I wouldn't, he's 29 now that won't age well at all and he's probably getting 60 pts max at this point and that total will only drop.

There will be lots of D-men going in this draft but not a huge run like Jeff thinks. Celebrini to SJ at 1, Demidov is going 2 to Chicago, then the 2 Russian D men, Cayden Lindstrom 5. Someone is going to get an absolute steal between 10 and 13 where they assume Eiserman is going. I could see teams with multiple firsts trade up to get him too.

Regarding Celebrini I understand Marek's point of view and it would concern me too having two young kids like that coming up at the same time but there are ways to make it easier for them, like bringing in veterans, having Smith stay at a veteran's place for a year or 2, I'm guessing Celebrini would live at his parent's house since his dad is working for the warriors. Also, it feels like Celebrini is very mature for his age so I wouldn't be that concerned.

William Nylander benefited from a year in the A. Special guys like mcdavid and bedard were groomed for direct service. Even Austin played with men before entering nhl. Is Cellibini that guy?

All these quality play by play guys going to American markets (ie Rick Ball), but don’t expect Elliot or Jeff to report too deeply because the real story is Rogers’ continued failures to keep the best talent. Elliot is only a “journalist” when it pertains to non Rogers subjects.

"It's a fool who bets against Connor McDavid", then he bets against Connor McD. The best player of his generation has a destiny that he has chased since childhood. To win the Stanely Cup. McDavid will not be denied. Oilers in 7!
