In turning, I was fascinated by the huge cones, and after good preparation, in the end, precise and high-quality CNC processing. i would use 6 in my pete. denton tx.. Home of peterbuilt. had kw with 3406-c, now l have pete 335 w/smaller cat. now. retired from my 10 car hauler, now lm making a housecar. im likein' the pete 335, never had a pete til 2023. Precision and never a hurt toe, try to figure that out!

17:30 if the tool were inverted and the Lathe ran in reverse, the chips would go down into the chip pan instead of all over the operator and floor.

If you see how these basic belt drive lathes run they might not go in reverse! 50 years ago when I worked on lathes in UK machining iron and brasses I always had a little strip of Signode strip clamped above the tool to deflect turnings downwards. The boss and other workers laughed at me but the joke was on them. Engineers and people in general can't think laterally?

When you think about it, it says a bunch about the durability of the old Cat engines

Although I see some improvement coming from PK in terms of shop safety, equipment and surprisingly some use of metrology I see even more inefficiencies/redundancies here. Wayyy too many operations for this simple part. How is it possible that finishing of something like final length cannot be done by one operator? I mean in typical Pakistani fashion too many folks doing just one step. Invest in equipment and operation efficiency. Combine steps to reduce costs and time of completion. This is NOT efficient at all!
