Get 5 star reviews for inspecting a roof with no damage. Thats 1 way you can combat crappy contractors.

Repairs are were the big money is , always has been always will be ,, plus in Florida the insurance companies are limiting the lifespan of the roof no matter what shingle lifespans are capable of in order get a policy , plus if the reroof is not done correctly and they are requiring inspections lately (because several insurance company’s have asked me how can they make sure that roof is right and I have recommended a licensed roof contractor to inspect for proper installation per manufacturer specs because just because it passes a municipality’s inspection doesn’t mean it’s installed correctly) ,,so if they get wind that it’s not even installed correctly it’s going to have to replaced or major repairs will be needed I still see so many improper nail patterns , even brand new tile roofs with high dollar underlayment and they screw up the vents and boots and wall flashing , causing leaks and rotten wafer boards to repair

Some insurance companies like State Farm no longer pay for shingle replacement around hail damaged vents. There are times when it's impossible to replace turtle vents without damaging shingles. What can a Contractor do if the shingle is discontinued and the repair isn't possible without damaging some shingles?

I’ve done inspections where there’s been some damage but not enough for me to recommend or feel confident about going through the claim process. Believe it or not I’ve had a few of those homeowners ask me if I could create damage so that it could qualify, I always turn it down and let them know there probably are roofers who would do that but I’m not one of them. Just can’t bring myself to do it

****Our small town had a tornado, we had a tree fall on the house, mostly hitting the chimney. It looks okay but we have holes in the roof with three rafters split broken and leaks inside to three areas. It's almost 4k sq. ft. roof area that needs replacement. The adjuster talked about window screens and a wall that shifted inside in which also after removing the drywall has some terminate damage. I can't find roofer to go inside the house! NONE went into the attic area! We received about $25 or $21 thousand to get the job done, but all the estimates have been about $40k. Some roofers had contact with the adjuster somehow and talk about another check after the roof done or something like that. They wave the $3k or so they are to receive from to start by law but it's been a extreme headache and to the point where I'm going to have to do it myself, even if it kills me. Insurance company is Travelers and just went up on us. It's been about six month's now trying so many roofing companies. The only one we feel has been adequate has been R.B.T but they primarily do large business type jobs and they look like they profited very well, so it looks like we either lose our home to lien by this company because I know they can switch the end costs and we could get skinned and end up homeless. Texas is not regulated to my understanding, the bank still has the mortgage, why don't they just handle the claim with the adjuster being the contractor?

None of this is accurate or tru... please find an honest company may be hard to find but it is worth it... you always get only a portion in the beginning.. and then a second check then deprication.. you won't be screwed or get a lien.. if you read your paperwork right:)

Which state would help but in general lots of collective works are groups of homeowners, contractors, PAs and attorneys and more lobbying for changes.

Currently watching... the PA example is a very bad example of Most P.A.'s (IMO) i hope you stop showing this for the homeowners (watching) sake. . Contractors can NOT Negotiate Claims, Talk Policies and so much more, but so many contractors try too (illegally) so yes, the PA's have a place IMO. Here in FL, i have seen many PAs going door-to-door as I'm compeeting against them while selling roofs for local Licensed Roofing Contractors and its growing (the PA Side). . The C.L.U.E. report on the home will show prior reporting... on that homes address. End-of-Day, i see this industry is about timming, and selling, meanding, the H/O goes through their logical.. "discovery process" interviewing anyone from the contractor to PA to the lawyer. Whomever gets there (not 1st) but at the right "buying time" in front of that H/O wins the contract... PS: "Crime Scene": Chad Michael coined that phrase #ThePractitioner so let's give him the credit. #ThePractionare

Please know that I acknowledge there is a place for PAs. We got to see a bad example here. There is no party as an entirety that operates without flaws; contractors, PAs, carriers, attorneys and more. I’m not at all saying they are all bad - many are good. It’s the rotten apples that ruin the whole bunch that are an issue.
