Love your vids, and the pace/tone of your voice, it's awesome! Very informative, but concise. Question- Regarding compressed ore versus buying refined minerals... What are the basic requirements to make reprocessing more profitable than simply buying refined minerals to start with? As far as I can tell there's a lot to consider; 1.) Reprocessing Base Skills (Reprocessing + Reprocessing Efficiency) 2.) Ore Processing skills 3.) Reprocessing Implant 4.) Raitaru with 54% bonused Rigs (Thats as high as it goes, right?) At this point, i have all 5s for Reprocessing and the main Ore Processing skills (Pyro, Veld, Scrod) but the rest are at 3. I have no reprocessing implant at this time. If I dont care about flying the refined minerals from Jita in a Freighter, whats the approx. breakeven point on reprocessing hauling with a DST/ or just buying the refined minerals and hauling with a Freighter? i've tried using the Eve Industry tools, but always end up screwing it up... :)

I skimmed over this topic because it's actually deep enough for a future video. Stay tuned, sorry about that!

Sometimes it seems that eve exists only to make me feel stupid. I really had no idea what he was talking about half the time.

For example he spoke of entering the market at certain point, what did he mean by that?

what is the "Relic Amarr Station" you mentioned @1:35 ?

It's called an Amarr Factory Outpost, and these can be seen all over player controlled Nullsec space. They offer a really decent manufacture bonus if you can't get ahold of a Raitaru or another EC to build out of.

interesting, i noticed that none are for sale in the markets. i assume these can only be manufactured through BPs? thank you and keep it up with the great videos!

he called it a relic because you can't build them anymore, as of December 2016. Only the ones already in game will ever exist going forward.

How do you figure the prices of profit if you mine your own ore..that site you linked shows how much the minerals cost. But if I mine my own it will drive the profits up. Anyway and tips are welcome.

Ah yes, the old "the minerals I mine are free" paradox. I should do a whole video on this hehe, the debate is as old as the hills on Amarr Prime. Yes, you could indeed say that your mining proceeds are free, and thus the out of pocket cost to build ships is nothing, however, this won't change the fact that you could otherwise sell the proceeds of your mining op as compressed or as minerals, and that will give them intrinsic value. This is the same as to say, if you own an Orchard you could also make orange juice from your crops, but that those crops still hold value, even if you didn't necessarily need to pay for them. One other way to look at it, is that besides the raw material holding value even if you didn't pay for it, your time is also something that should be added to a value equation, in otherwords they might be free but you could have made isk another way if you had invested time there instead. =) Long story short: minerals aren't really free, but mining is an excellent way to drive down the out of pocket cost, limiting the necessity to keep isk around to keep the ball rolling. I hope this helps, as I say its a very old and primarily paradoxical / philosophical problem with many logical solutions, this is just my solve, and I believe it comes from a place of business and necessity to make aspects of the game make sense in business terms. Hope this helps!

So just compress the ore that I mine, then sell that ore on market. The profits from that I buy the minerals I need and call it a day? taking into account that my refining skills are very subpar.

Well, using the ore if you can train reprocessing skills is probably better, its a synergy that you can leverage as a producer to be able to get your own ore. I guess the important part to take away from that speech is that you should still calculate your profit step of production considering a market priced mineral, because that's what you could otherwise get for those materials. Valuing them in this way means you will be able to look at your profit step for production separately, and this will help you to identify items which are profitable to produce by the comparison of simply selling the minerals or compressed (ie; you still don't want to lose money on a production step, even if you didn't pay for the minerals). Hope that makes sense!
