There's one unwritten universal law in the global metal community: "no matter how metal you are, or how metal your favorite band may be... Nothing will ever be more metal than Manowar." They've been preaching global unity through metal for decades. They live and breathe the concept of metal to the point of it almost being an ideology. They believe in it so strongly you could almost call it religious. No band has done more to unite metal fans across the globe than Manowar. There's no greater unifier in the history of mankind than metal because the only thing we share is the love for the music, and everything else is trivial in comparison.

Manowar is one of those bands that has an absolute army of a fanbase, from all over the world. I grew up listening to them, my dad played their albums and their songs even played on the radio here in Sweden.

Me class mate hear in Finland did borrow Louder than Hell album to me here in Finland and I didn't give it back, because I borrowed porn magazine to him, which his mom might have caught and destroyed, I still say him that he can get the disc back, if I can have me porn back..... That was near 30 years ago.... 🤒🤒🤒

Manowar is one of those absolutely legendary bands that "started it all". Their 1981-1984 albums are absolute bombastic and that is the music i grew upon. They are here for 40 years. Thats already amazing. And Eric Adams is 60+ age. His voice is still powerful as hell.

Started what? They started nothing except their own path and credit for that, 40 years in the business nearly. But they didn't start metal or power metal. They often jokingly call it "True Metal" whatever that is. For me, they were preceded by superior bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Riot, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, etc, and were surpassed by the likes of Metallica, Pantera, Helloween, Mastodon, and far more bands who put out better music later on. I've seen Manowar live and all they've got going for them is ridiculously high volume.

"With dreams to be a King first one should be a Man!" Quite possibly my favorite lyric ever. I remember, years and years ago now, some girl at a bar who hated Metal asked me while surrounded by a group of people of all the metal bands why on God's green Earth I loved Manowar as much as I do? She thought everything about them was dumb. Trying to make me look stupid in front of everybody. Without missing a beat I looked her right in the eye and said "It's physically impossible to be in a bad mood while listening to or watching Manowar." She just gave me the stink eye but I heard people behind me give out a hearty laugh and say "That's definitely true!"

That hand thing came w/ their fourth studio album, "Sign Of The Hammer" released by 10/Virgin label in 1984. "Sign of the Hammer" also become the hand-sign of Manowarriors (their loyal fans).

OTHER BANDS PLAY....MANOWAR KILLS !

I have been a Manowarrior for 31 years now. 10 concerts in 3 different countries. Manowar fans are the most united group of fans in Metal. The Manowar sign is made by grapping your right wrist with your left hand and raising them up. They had even better songs earlier but this has become the hymn for Manowarriors in the past 15 years. If you can find the live Battle Hymns with all the band members on you'r hearts will melt. (hint Battle himns in YT )

Hail from Louisiana! Was blessed to be able to see them live once. Manowar is music for LIFE.

Since I don't see anyone telling you this, the hands holding in the air it's "The sign of the hammer". And it's a good song to listen too.

Beware: the Manowar army is coming ;) They have one of the most dedicated fanbase. For good reason I say :)

I love that you did a Manowar reaction. I saw them live in Germany in 1992 and 94, when I was a teenager. I've seen a lot of bands back then (everything from Aerosmith to Metallica and Sepultura), but the Manowar concerts really stand out in my memory. The atmosphere was unbelievable and I had bruises for almost 2 month from being pressed against the fence in front of the stage (totally worth it!). Hopefully I'll see them again next year.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I've seen them live in Germany two times in the 90th. 2002 wasn't a good time in my life and I had lost sight of them. But, depending on Covid, I'll see them next year again, almost 30 years later.

Quick comment. That sign is the Hammer of Thor and, if needed, the Warriors of the world are the fans.

Hey Hunterz. Now that you've heard Warriors of the World Unite, you _need_ to hear Kingdom Come, as well as Call to Arms. Both song are absolutely epic in their early 1980s sound.

Ah the original "VIKING" metal. Man this band was a blast especially LIVE with that in your face metal sound from the Gods and this was the band chosen to deliver it!!! The crowds were known for the "HAMMER SIGN" and they were the early Wacken/Woodstock (Poland)/Bloodstock crowds all rolled into one. A loud and raucous group of warriors who were there for a great time and made for a great atmosphere. The Doors and Morrison were the rebels of Rock and Manowar were that for Metal. Rebellion in your face defiant and a blast to listen to, my dorm listen to them each and every time I put them on even though they didn't want to!!! Man you are going back to the glory of vinyl time with this!!!!

They did a concert in my hometown. After the concert we went for some more Beer into a pub. They werde sitting beide us at the bar and we talked the whole night. Super friendly guys! And They paid the Bill!

That hand sign they keep seeing is called the hammer this band is by far one of the most masculine testosterone driven power metal groups of all time that's why they were at the forefront like they said in their fighting the world album and that paragraph the last thing it said is death to false metal

This clearly calls for a reaction to a song from their "Louder than hell" album. Why not "The Gods Made Heavy Metal"?
