Fabio is fabulous, but Eric is IMMORTAL!

I'm italian and I love Fabio Lione's voice. After listening this comparison there are no doubt: this song was written for Eric Adams only. Despite the sound production there's no doubt that Eric Adams is, probably, the best epic singer of the wholetime! Really powerful voice and deep inerpretation.

Eric has an aura of legend to which Fabio is just getting there (in my opinion they are both already legends)

Eric and Fabio should definitely do a song together in the future. Two legendary voices in the Metal industry. I wish Ronnie was still alive to do a song or two with Fabio or Eric. If that would have ever happened that would be as epic as you could get. Rest In Peace Ronnie

They wont because Rhapsody used to be under Magic Circle back when Manowar were doing MC Festivals and play on the same festivals with Manowar but for whatever reason they fell out and stopped working together, It's almost like Manowar helped them get well known only for them to turn their backs and say we don't need you now.

I love both version. Fabio did the cover justice.

Two very distinct styles. As in most cases one has to go for the original interpretation, but it's also one of these cases where the cover is truly different. Fabio is not trying to emulate Adams, he is actually covering the song in a new direction, and quite successfuly I should say.

Fabio has nothing to do against the allmighty Mr Eric Adams King of Metal himself

No doubt about it. Eric has more powerful, baritone and naturally raspy voice with attitude. Fabio is a great singer, but in newer power metal style, cleaner and bombastic.

I choose Eric, though I think both are great and I see how a reasonable person might disagree, especially if they didn’t grow up on the original version. Here’s how I see it: Eric’s advantages: He’s the better “actor” in the sense that I feel his pain, anger and sense of victory and revenge more sincerely. Eric has once of the most commanding, in charge voices in music. He sounds like the kind of guy you’d take orders from in a way that almost no one else does. Eric has the perfect voice for this, whereas Fabio’s voice is a bit nasally and less commanding. When Eric gets raspy, he gets extremely raspy much more so than Fabio. I love raspy, intense vocal deliveries. As a native English speaker, Eric doesn’t have the distracting accent and mispronunciations that Fabio has, and he has a better sense of on exactly what words to put just the right amount of emphasis on. Fabio’s advantages: Fabio does sound like he’s the better “singer” in the sense that he focuses more on carrying melodies. He sounds like a very well trained and studied singer. Fabio at times makes his voice sound very “beautiful” or you might even say “pretty” in a way that Eric doesn’t. Personally, I’m not sure that’s fitting for this song, but credit where credit is due. Fabio’s version has a louder, thicker, more modern production which can definitely give his voice the feeling of an edge over the classic production when compared side by side. Fabio never sounds like he’s struggling for a breath. His breathing technique is very good. Eric is a very “breathy” “huff and puff” sort of singer, one of those singers where you can hear him reaching to get his next breath in. It doesn’t bother me, I actually kind of like it, but some people don’t like that.

Both were awesome....Lione had put your style on the great song.

One is heavy metal, other is power metal. You can't compare, everyone of them is good in their own way. And that's how should be.

Fabio es mi favorito pero siento que este enfrentamiento es una total ofensa en contra de estos dos grandes vocalistas que si bien son de distintos tiempos los dos tienen un potencial vocal inigualable...no entiendo porque indisponer a unos contra otros haciendo esto, son dos estilos distintos de canto y de genero....Fabio lo hace increíblemente manejándolo en su estilo lirico y versátil. Mis respetos a estos dos maestros vocales, pero me desagrada que hagan un VERSUS entre ellos...…mas bien hubieran puesto tributo a manowar y ya.

Así como Rhapsody en su momento homenajearon a Manowar con este cover (no olvidemos que, aunque hoy quizá lo niegue Luca, Manowar y Helloween fueron las máximos influencias de Rhapsody) yo pretendí un homenaje a ambas versiones en esta comparación, pues adoro a ambas bandas. No es un ¨versus¨ en términos de oposición o competencia sino una puesta en común donde ambas versiones se enriquecen dialécticamente. Es muy triste que haya personas que no lo tomen así, pero no hay problema, no todos entienden la dialéctica.

Понравился мне Фабио, сильный голос, техника, распевность - всё при нём. Да и кавер в целом очень даже не плох. Конечно, я буду предвзятым, однако Manowar лично для меня лучший - и вокал и инструменталка, а Фабио с компанией, тоже молодцы, хотя и некоей Хелловинщиной отдаёт (в хорошем смысле).

The issue with Fabio is the pronunciation. I understand that people loke to make the excuse that foreign singers get an excuse to not pronounce the lines the right way but I don't buy that. Some vowels are much harder to sing when exaggerated. It's why Eric is the greatest. Nobody can hit his notes with the same resonance that he can. A great amount of this is due to his commanding pronunciation. Fabio is a good vocalist and singer but nobody can touch Eric. Sorry...

Most metal listeners are not native speakers (i.e. american) anyway. So it only becomes an issue when covering US bands, or maybe classic english bands like Maiden and Priest.

Eric Adams' version is way better than Fabio's. It has a Clash of metal in The melody that is the most significant trait on the same. A melody dedícated to metal without the metal Clash is unconceivable... and that is a profound respect for those who have died by metal during history. Also the final part as a hard-rock/heavy metal parte is terrific. Positive things on Fabio's version are. Louder in epic parts as in The middle. (Original was almost in silence when Say "the Clash of other falls" and You Hear an echo.) And use of the instruments as sounds of flute, goes good. Use of various voices at the beginning and in The end rather than the simple "ah...oh.." of a synth. The effect in The last bridge is interesting too... I remember a song on Rhapsody called "when demons awake" in which Fabio sings a part in left speaker, and a part in right and it is a well-made change. But without a single metallic sound in Fabio's version (of a sword, or just a hammer hitting a metal) it was like this melody could have been whichever and it would have been the same. Because Lost the target. It's like a poetry to the sword and battle. I mean... For example: If this melody had been "The gods Made heavy metal" it would have been a better version with all they Made. Both versions are good but original reinforce battle idea and they reason I prefer it.
