You should get some men at arms and name them The Long Men. Also the next town you build should be called Harddongia

The standing army needs a “patrol” command or “garrison” where they just walk the roads of the town and occasionally stand guard at the market or other work sites so they’re not just standing in formation for days until you need them again.

I think the influence actually goes up IF THERE IS AN ACTUAL BATTLE. Being that the first fight, wasn't even really a "fight", there was no influence gained. At least that's what I'm thinking.

'Massive Battle' where you don't lose a man. These battles are trivial and will detract from what the game could be.

I know the game isn't even released yet, but imagine the mod possibilities or even updates from devs: 1 Day and night cycle for each month, because people need to sleep, and nights looks cool. Fighting at night is possible, but you need to make sure your troops are ready for it. 2 Armies need provisions taken with them in the field, or have dependable supply lines. They need season appropriate gear. Fighting in summer or winter, until you get standing retinue. 3 Transferring people between villages. 4 Church clergy is assigned from the metropoly, but need local families to work there. 5 All families have names and can over time track their lineage. People inherit land and you have to settle disputes, possibly drawing ire and risking a revolt. After some time certain families become low nobility and you can't just reassign and move them around willy nilly. 6 The region you are sent to develop and conquer is populated by itinerant peoples, who don't just want to give up their land. You can either subjugate them, possibly absorbing some of their customs and technologies, or drive them off. Some are bandits, some are tribes. 7 Sieges and mounted warfare. 8 Like Gord, but not trash.
