Easily the best character guide I've seen thus far. So many guides are way too focused on specific tech or are too beginner focused. I don't think I've come out of a character guide feeling like I understand the general gameplan and how to execute the character's wincon until now

Yooo, this is so helpful. I never played a grappler before in SF and while playing World Tour mode I got her command throw and immediately found myself using it constantly. I ran through Ken’s combo trials and decided to give Manon’s a try and ended up falling in love with the moveset and combos. I played some rounds online with her and found myself doing fairly well punishing with her command throws and now I’m hooked and want to switch from Ken main to Manon main so thank you for this thorough and informative guide that isn’t just high level tech and combos.

I search every where about in depth guide explanation for Manon. You are the one who probably the best guide I could find. The detail information about spacing, normal and her gameplan are very informative. Definitely will wait for your other great explanation guide. 😃

This is the best Manon guide I've seen for covering her gameplan and neutral. I've been stalled out in mid Platinum and once I internalize this it should help a lot.

It's been 3 weeks since I last commented and I'm happy announce I made it Plat 1 😂 Last 3 days especially since I came back to sf6 from playing strive. I just threw myself into training for DR cancels and used the better Manon buttons more and went on a 6 win streak even. Thanks Strider

It's a really great tutorial. There are many videos teaching how to use manon, but most of them are just teaching for the combos and ask us to gain medel. This is the first in deep video that teach us the game plan of manon and how to do I neutral before I can start those combos. Great thanks to you and hope you could do more videos for manon.

Also, could you please have a guide on how manon should do when having match up with JP, it is disgusting when JP always spam its long range attacks and when I come to the front of JP, I am already half blooded.

I needed this ish. Been maining her since she dropped. She’s a lot harder than ppl think. You have to have very good fundamentals to play her and know every matchup. You don’t just get free wins unless your opponent doesn’t respect your 5 Stack.

Thanks for the guide! It helped me get a diamond placement in rank with Manon (where usually I'd place high gold or low platinum with other characters). The focus on normals and gameplan helped. (Though I'd want to learn optimal combos and setups eventually!)

Thanks, man. Im new to fighting games, and tips on gameplan is exactly what I need. I'm playing modern Manon, just hit gold. Im surprised almost nobody uses modern at low ranks. Manon is also a rare guest here. The biggest struggles are Guile and JP, thankfully they are pretty unpopular here too.

Man, SF6 is the first fighting game I tried to get better enough for online, even though I ever liked the genre, I immediately liked manon, even though I hate playing with grapplers. Was having some difficulties on gold rank tho, just yesterday, and I saw this video and my game got better immediately, specially in matchups I had problems with. really amazing guide.

I plan on going over a few matchups, most requested ones being JP/Guile

Against fireballs, use spin/ballerina slide (never use unsafe jump-ins against players who have reversals or uppercuts)... Luke, Ken, Juri, Guile, Dee Jay, Chun Li, Ryu, Rashid and risky on (characters who use their bodies as projectiles) Honda, Cammy, Blanka, Lily (parry and counter, beware of being predictable by using full toolbox) ZONER with tp: Dhalsim and JP (patience (punish arms/legs after blocking them) and jump-ins only at mid range during fireballs/distortions deployment (no long range combat ever!)) Non-fireball characters: Manon, Marisa, Zangief, Jamie(reversal), Kimberly(simular approach as Cammy, imo) (master footsy, Manon's high-low mix-up(overhead kick at range and ballerina slide), learn opponents' toolboxes and weaknesses) MANON is not striker, she is a ballerina and a judoka. (Balance & passive, self-defense, punish all mistakes opponent makes with a stack, you can't counter attack if you are in the middle of recovery from your attack), get to 5 stacks ASAP! Study fundamentals, opponents, mirror matches (holes in your defenses) -> learn a playstyle you feel comfortable with. Don't be scrub while using Manon. Strider's use of (tomoe nage) down-forward + hk was correctly stated. (Anti-air, wall trap, switches side and your escape from wall traps) also use super lvl1. The suggestions are sound in theory... but people will be surprised by YOUR UNDERSTANDING of Manon's deep toolbox if it is complete. If I have 5 stacks r1 & lose, I am not stressed. Losing with 1 stack is because you are a striker (poor defensive & attacking choices) 3700 damage r2 & r3 cannot be ignored!

One topic I’d love to hear more about is how to build, and more crucially, practice situational awareness. So often I don’t do an optimal combo bc I wasn’t aware of the meter or my muscle memory takes over and can’t process things in real time.

That just kinda comes with experience/practice honestly. Try going into matches with one specific thing you want to focus on and keep trying to execute that one thing, even if your overall gameplay suffers because of it. You can do casual matches if you’re worried about your rank suffering

I was a doubting Manon player. Then i saw this and it was inspiering and helpful. I need to be better at neutral and i cant cheat. Manon is good. Creating favourable 50/50 is litterary winning

This is the kind of guide I am always looking for when I pick up a character and they are so damn hard to find

Lore wise, arguably the strongest character (using BALLET to fight)

I got my experience online in matches ...I probably spent 30mins in practice with her then said ok 👍🏼 let's go. Been having fun learning and doing surprisingly well, granted I have over 34yrs of legacy FG knowledge. Something about her reminds me of VF4:Evo Goh where he has tools but not the best tools and you just have to make the little things work. I just need to incorporate more drive rush things but overall I'm doing fine in neutral. Something with her, at least for me is when I do lose I learn super quick what not to do.

Great stuff from my favorite Manon to watch hands down. Question: what would you say is her best drive rush check button?

Thank you for this guide! I came here somewhat desperate because of the difficulties I encounter while playing Manon. Your advice has given me some hope and the desire to improve. Could you offer some advice on managing defense with Manon?

Ah yes. Another grappler to play on the side and complement my main man Zangief. Hopefully this will help me to remember to poke my opponent more often. As thats something i struggle to remember since starting this game recently.

This video is great, i feel like i've hit a wall in Diamond 4, i play Modern Manon, so its some buttons i don't have. Although this video has the strategies i feel i needed. I actually found a way to replace HK with her spin kick, i checked the frame data and its comparable. I would love to add you in game to run some sets. Modern manon isn't bad actually i do miss her swan kicks and crouching medium punch though.

Gustavo, can you make a guide about the Manon's defensive options, especially in the corner? I find it particularly difficult to deal with pressure without a reliable reversal. 😅

The only "reversal" that I do is the level 2 super, but not always works.

I really enjoyed your less technical approach to explaining the character. There are plenty of tech videos already but not enough lecture or discussion viceos.

You mentioned something that a lot of us scrubs struggle to do: just chill, allow the opponent to make a mistake, then punish. Most of the time, my need to press buttons is what gets me smoked.

Her DR after buttons is not truly forcing a guess. If you have a ex dp, you can punish it everytime.

im a current 3400 luke bronze, but i only played cause peoeple told me he easy to play, i really want to play manon tho she was my first i like how she does the judo drops since i did alot of it in the corps. Would you recommend me learnign her or just stay on luke

Thanks for the useful guide :) I do want to say though can you please stop zooming in on your camera in your post editing lol. It's a bit jarring especially when you're explaining something and showing it but you've zoomed in so we cant see xD
