Marisa definitely feels power crept by Bison, they have the same strength and weaknesses; but Bison has better speed, damage, special moves and throw loops! I started the game with Marisa, and I’ve bounced off her after getting twerked on by Kens.

This is why I can never take fighting games seriously because somehow these multi million dollar companies can’t design a game that’s fair and balanced. Bison is only overpowered because it’s about sales and getting people to purchase the newer characters that should be probably added to the main roster anyway.

I get it it not easy to solo Marisa this season 2 yes still win the matchups if out smart your opponents and whiff punish her natural not beat some cases ed matchup is tough mu not possible still it shut her offense gladius armor got to be super patience. But i like gulie matchup is fine zangief it more annoying but does same gameplan have guess right whiff punish him too. Marisa does not bad with akuma stop his air options if he does reckless not spaced it get cooked of the armor ground game it very tricky i only superman akuma charged fireball the rest walk and block . I just watch have to watch out hk low ranks akuma love doing that lol. Now facing bison mu not a fan but starting to understand it my problem is not patience enough that why my Marisa is stuck at diamond 3.

Marisa main here since S1 (big fan of you and big bird, you made me pick this character), and I was expecting this exact analysis for Marisa in S2. I had the same feeling, and tbh I had it since reading the patchnote. Losing strong OKI in favor of better damage, something Marisa absolutely does not need, can look good out of context. But when the rest of the cast got buffs in various areas like framedata, hitboxes etc I had the feeling that nothing will change for Marisa except almost every matchup would become harder. And it's exactly what happened. Even at my medium level (1450 MR), I really feel it. I'm not surprised Big Bird dropped her (his Rashid is so freaking good), as well as you currently wondering about swapping to Bison.

Trying to argue other characters can do this better, but comparing themselves to shotos, smaller faster characters, and any character that doesnt even compare to what she is. She is a big body, juggernaut. Tbh, her movement speed should be slower. She is mad fast for a big body of her caliber, and a good drive rush. Like she glides mad far and fast with her drive rush. She isnt supposed to fight with fast normals. She isnt supposed to be able to run characters down. She shouldnt have crazy defensive options. Her offense is her defense. Her overwhelming power, and threat of getting hit forces the opponent to play outside of their standard gameplan, because that standard gameplan she can destroy. Big Body powerhouse characters arent supposed to have a bunch a safe pressure. They should be losing their turn FREQUENTLY. Yall spoiled as fuck right now with SF6. You been carried by the game mechanics, and built in “player-friendly” system features that allow you to play unlike any other street fighter has taught you before. Yall dont know crap about neutral. Yall think getting wins in this game make you good, when you try the same BS that got you that win anywhere else and you get blown up because those other games are designed to have counter play to BS. Marisa is exactly where she should be. She isnt a shoto. She isnt a small agile character. She plays how she should. You all just need to play better. Outsmart your opponents. I mained Marisa all throughout S1 but now I'm bouncing between Akuma and Bison. It's not so much about them being better at being the high damage characters. It's that they're both a lot more interesting and fun to play. Marisa is so linear and at the same time has garbage defence. That's such a restrictive combination.

I'd stay true to Mama Mari. Because in an ideal world Bison ass should get a crazy nerf coming up, while Marisa might be good when Terry drops. In the world we live in, where people are making grey, semi downplay content about him, when the actual Black and White is that he's overtuned..... he might not get a nerf, if we go off of S2 balance notes. So who knows. 🤣

im curious on your thoughts on why gief marisa isnt marisa favored. from the gief perspective winning neutral is feels pretty difficult since gladius blows up the majority of giefs pokes since gief doesnt have a threatening low besides sweep and if marisa ever blocks that she converts into a full combo. A lot of the time i feel i have to throw out yolo jumps and hope for the best. they both steamroll each other on offense but i feel her slightly better defense and being more likely to land that first impactful hit (also because whiffing spd vs her is game losing) gives her a very meaningful advantage.

They tired of playing neutral and having to think in matches. Other characters dont have to think as much. Toss a couple of fireballs, anti-air their jumps with one of your 6+ anti-air options, throw loop them in the corner with your monitor turned off. With Marisa you gotta think. Bison you have to think as well; but he is better at setting up advantageous situations. Then again, i dont play Marisa. Im sure i could lab some shit and be just as solid with her. I really love how armor and its usage. You dont see much play from her guard from anyone. I greatly feel her potential still hasnt even been tapped into because everyone is stuck on drive parry and drive rush everything, instead of utilizing every part of your character to the fullest. Zangief players understand. You have to use your character first before anything because even the universal mechanics can be used against you. If you are getting spun around in circles by other characters/players, then its probably something you are doing wrong and getting yourself into bad predicaments. Just saying. Marisa is fine. Try and be innovative and figure some stuff out, lab to beat your weaknesses.

I still solo main Marisa rn and I have the most fun with her in this game. However, her damage buffs doesn't really make up for the nerfs she got and her weaknesses still being an issue this season. This may be a reach, but as a Dudley main in 3rd strike and sf4, the only way I'm dropping Marisa is if Dudley gets in sf6

I agree with pretty much everything, except even tho both characters have a weak AA game bison's is still a lot better off for having hell attack and 5HK, the latter being consistent with a proper AA hurtbox (on the leg at first, then on the foot only) until and while active, giving him an option against far jump-ins, and both can potentially lead into a conversion (on PC only for 5HK) into pressure whereas marisa's only recourse to stop people from jumping from far away is risking the air-to-air for a KD from which she gets no oki without bar as her reward (and even then if they're really far she only gets j.MK or j.HK both of which air reset), or gladius which is inconsistent because of the short-lived armor and which just resets to neutral where she's worse than bison To me bison really is just a less risky, more consistent, just overall less volatile marisa

Marisa is better than Bison. She's a Drive gauge killer. Built in DI even when she's in burnout. Easy mode combos and does big damage. A command grab. She has longer pokes as well. Checkmate after CA scenario. People are overhyping Bison because he's new. Marisa seems to still be the better option.

Marisa didn't deserve nerfs except for a few niche things like the scaling on crouch MP > ex QCF K. Everyone else is starting to feel how strong their characters still are while Marisa is definitely weaker than she was and she already wasn't top tier.

I’m new to sf6 but a fighting game nerd… My take just thinking the now is Marisa wins staying at round start range slightly further and using her bigger pokes and armor to beat the booms. I’m a scrub at sf6 though for Akuma to high gold an plateaued last month So no hate if I’m totally wrong 😂❤

I'm pretty sure either Strider or Big Bird have a video somewhere explaining the Guile match up. Basically, there is a certain range (not too close but close enough) where gladius is out of cr.mk range but can still punish sonic boom, this is the range where you want to be as it totally shutdown most of Guile's gameplan. In this range, you can gladius on reaction against sonic booms, and you can whiff punish cr.mk or cr.hk with your cr.mp or something like that. Also, in general, superman punch is really effective at closing the gap if timed properly.

With Marisa it feels like Capcom did this double dip in terms of weaknesses to compensate for her high damage. They made her defense really weak from multiple angles but also made it so that her offensive options are severely limited with almost nonexistent combo routes from lows, plus normals being exclusively fully charged heavies, bad throw oki, slow walkspeed, dr and buttons in general with only a handful being cancelable.... etc. I personally think that the limited offense should be enough and that her defense should at least be solid, enough character's have super oppressive offense (like Bison) with tons of options and Marisa missing that while also being super susceptible to it herself feels really bad.

Problem is, Marisa felt limited to begin with but was carried by her big damage pay off. Now other characters have similar or better damage but aren't nearly as limited which makes them more fun to play. So for those that do play her, it does feel like she is getting powercrept some. She doesn't need things to make her top tier or anything like that, but some future changes to make her feel better to play would be nice.

I still solo main Marisa rn and I have the most fun with her in this game. However, her damage buffs doesn't really make up for the nerfs she got and her weaknesses still being an issue this season. This may be a reach, but as a Dudley main in 3rd strike and sf4, the only way I'm dropping Marisa is if Dudley gets in sf6
on the same boat buddy, and i hate myself for it
The biggest reason to play Marisa over Bison, Bison isn't a muscle mommy. Edit: I commented before I got to the "sweats" part.

I agree with pretty much everything, except even tho both characters have a weak AA game bison's is still a lot better off for having hell attack and 5HK, the latter being consistent with a proper AA hurtbox (on the leg at first, then on the foot only) until and while active, giving him an option against far jump-ins, and both can potentially lead into a conversion (on PC only for 5HK) into pressure whereas marisa's only recourse to stop people from jumping from far away is risking the air-to-air for a KD from which she gets no oki without bar as her reward (and even then if they're really far she only gets j.MK or j.HK both of which air reset), or gladius which is inconsistent because of the short-lived armor and which just resets to neutral where she's worse than bison To me bison really is just a less risky, more consistent, just overall less volatile marisa
yes...even big bird drops Marisa for Bison. Bison is like superior Marisa now.
Marisa is better than Bison. She's a Drive gauge killer. Built in DI even when she's in burnout. Easy mode combos and does big damage. A command grab. She has longer pokes as well. Checkmate after CA scenario. People are overhyping Bison because he's new. Marisa seems to still be the better option.

So funny to see this. I'm away for a month without sf so I've been watching a lot of videos and I was just starting to think bison will make me switch when I get back. I'm really curious to see how much time it'll take me to get to the same MR
Marisa didn't deserve nerfs except for a few niche things like the scaling on crouch MP > ex QCF K. Everyone else is starting to feel how strong their characters still are while Marisa is definitely weaker than she was and she already wasn't top tier.

I’m new to sf6 but a fighting game nerd… My take just thinking the now is Marisa wins staying at round start range slightly further and using her bigger pokes and armor to beat the booms. I’m a scrub at sf6 though for Akuma to high gold an plateaued last month So no hate if I’m totally wrong 😂❤
She can probably use the advancing moves to get back to her preferred range. Like use a button with forward movement and armor instead of parrying
I'm pretty sure either Strider or Big Bird have a video somewhere explaining the Guile match up. Basically, there is a certain range (not too close but close enough) where gladius is out of cr.mk range but can still punish sonic boom, this is the range where you want to be as it totally shutdown most of Guile's gameplan. In this range, you can gladius on reaction against sonic booms, and you can whiff punish cr.mk or cr.hk with your cr.mp or something like that. Also, in general, superman punch is really effective at closing the gap if timed properly.

Im mainly a deejay but moved to bison because i got deejay to master and bison is one of my favourites, he feels tougher to play, ive really gotta develop more skills to get more wins, getting rusheddown by these relentless online sweats feels ridiculous, im just constantly guessing 😂

With Marisa it feels like Capcom did this double dip in terms of weaknesses to compensate for her high damage. They made her defense really weak from multiple angles but also made it so that her offensive options are severely limited with almost nonexistent combo routes from lows, plus normals being exclusively fully charged heavies, bad throw oki, slow walkspeed, dr and buttons in general with only a handful being cancelable.... etc. I personally think that the limited offense should be enough and that her defense should at least be solid, enough character's have super oppressive offense (like Bison) with tons of options and Marisa missing that while also being super susceptible to it herself feels really bad.
“weak defense?” She has armored moves as well as that block move that auto counters any high/mid attack and a command grab right after.

Problem is, Marisa felt limited to begin with but was carried by her big damage pay off. Now other characters have similar or better damage but aren't nearly as limited which makes them more fun to play. So for those that do play her, it does feel like she is getting powercrept some. She doesn't need things to make her top tier or anything like that, but some future changes to make her feel better to play would be nice.
Great point. And dudes be wanting to win more than they wanna learn match ups(i.e. stick with they day ones and train AGAINST bison's broken ass).

I'm holding out hope that Terry Bogard will be a good combo with Marisa. I'm going to pick up Terry no matter what but fingers crossed he covers some of her gaps and is as fun to play.
