Me too
I remembered you mentioned that most tourists travellers are advised to skip Manila and just go straight to the islands. I think metro manila has so much to offer to tourists. Not to mention, 2 hours away there's a beautiful beach in Batangas and along the way is tagaytay which has the most picturesque view of taal volcano.

I'm in manila, and I advise everyone to skip it honestly. Everywhere I go, i get pestered from homeless children for money and it's extremely hard to say no to. There is just too much poverty to enjoy. It makes me sad.

If you guys ever have the time, try visiting las casas Filipinas de Acuzar in bagac, bataan. It's pretty much a recreation of what the Philippines look like hundreds of years ago. The old houses there are real and you can actually sleep on them because the place is also a hotel.
Welcome back to our motherland Chris and Carol. Always heartwarming to see foreigners sharing and loving their experiences in our beloved Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤ looking forward to your other videos.
What I like about your vlogs is your honesty, no sugarcoating. Another informative vlog, well done guys ❤️👏
Never been to the Philippines WoW! Manila seems gorgeous. On my bucket list now Thanks to both of you Have fun, guys! 👍
I love you beautiful people Greetings from Turkey ☺
Your background research is very accurate. Most people do not realize the Philippines has "similar" vibes as Central/South America, incl some "social" problems and politics. I've been to a number of the Lat Am countries, working outside of the big cities, from fruits and vegies to some cultural practices are very similar. PH to some is the Mexico of Asia. 200 years of shared heritage with Mexico, that's a looooong time, speaking of which the Day of Dead is coming up. 😉

Yes, I also had a classmate in the Philippines who is a descendant of Native Americans who migrated to the Philippines centuries ago through the galleon trade. The Nat-Am facial features are still evident. There's even a town in Pampanga province that was named after Mexico because many of its inhabitants are of Mexican-descent.

Binondo is the first and oldest Chinatown in the world guys, established in 1594. Also, Intramuros won Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction in the 29th World Travel Awards held in Vietnam. :)

Hi have a nice day lovely enjoying the great vedio thank you sharing the beautiful video 💝💝💝💝💝👍👌
9:11 That's Spanish-Filipino colonial architecture. It's unique to the Philippines. It combines native designs with Spanish designs, exemplified by the use of capiz shells on the window panes, instead of glass. It evolved from the native houses on stilts, with the stilt area becoming enclosed in stone. 15:19 Not just Intramuros. The majority of Manila was destroyed. Hence why there are so few colonial-era buildings remaining.

@Angry Kittens Hello, recognize you from other channel I enjoy (Susie in the Phil). You always present informative & interesting info; if I recall correctly, both re: history & also natural ie botanical info. Ty! I read another comment that Manila was only 2nd to Warsaw in destruction to the city & perhaps causalities in a city-not sure on that- in WW2. I knew already that it was decimated, devastated. Relatives told me as Japan retreated & even after their surrender, their policy remained destruction in retreat.💔🙏🏽

Also, you touched on pet peeve of mine, I knew there was Filipino influence to architecture & arts etc, not factually or details; but just sensed it looking at things (without a formal arts training). So thanks for presenting that. Bothers me when some seem to think the Phil civilization began with Spain. Simple wiki read could inform one on that. Not that these creators are guilty of that, they seem very respectful & interested. I’m new to them but that seems evident.

@@wintersojourn9356 Yes. It's frustrating to hear people call it a "Spanish house", when it is actually a style of architecture that is uniquely Filipino. It's more accurate really to describe it as a native "bahay kubo" (native wood/bamboo and thatch houses on stilts) that were rebuilt in stone and "modernized" (relatively) with Spanish building practices. Because that is precisely what happened. These houses evolved within the Principalia, the largely native/mixed colonial aristocratic class (descended from the pre-colonial nobility). More than a few retain pre-colonial elements (like thatched roofs, or patterns meant to evoke woven bamboo). You can also see the non-stone versions of commoners during the same period to understand that the majority of the elements of the Filipino ancestral houses are native. Like the fully wooden/bamboo Mabini Shrine, the ancestral house of Apolinario Mabini. It's basically that house, just rebuilt in stone and clay roof tiles. The architectural style doesn't exist in Spain or Latin America. Although a caveat: a few houses included in the "ancestral houses" category have more standard European designs, but these are the ones that were usually owned by actual Spanish families. Not by the native/mestizo aristocracy.

@Angry Kittens Hello! If you have time/inclination, I thought of you as on another Phil lifestyle channel I follow, a commenter posed cultural & historic questions about folk dance in Phil, & other questions that I thought you could address. She is a sweet lady, & so far nobody seems to have answers for her. Her name is Khelesie Salvatore, & her reply/question is in most recent vlog 12-6 or 12-7-2022 in the vlog That Philippines Life. She has more than one comment throughout the vlog’s reply section, but the comment about dance history in Phil. is the one to which I’m referring. Ty 4 ur consideration, AK, & Ty Jumping Places.
Glad to know that you two are back in the country! Try to explore the islands from the Visayas. They are also beautiful.

Welcome to the Philippines chris and carol! You came to the right place but at the wrong time.. It's rainy season my friends... I still hope you'll enjoy your stay! Stay safe and dry! We love you both!😂😂😍
You had a nice visit there of different places in Metro Manila. 🙂 You may want to visit the city of Vigan in the Northwestern part of the Philippines...it's also similar to Intramuros...with Spanish architecture preserved but much larger...

Hey Chris and Carol, glad you were back to explore again the Philippines. My simple advise if you would, try the northern part of the Philippines, many options to explore from those places, and the Batanes Island, the place of the indigenous people, "Ibatan", there were touristy places there that might surprise you. Good luck to both of you and enjoy your stay! Stay safe too.

Philippines is rich in culture, food, and history. Thank you for making this video.
Best Intramuros and Manila tour so far.
Another great, walking exploration!
I know you prefer island beaches and falls the reason you are back in the country but glad you stayed in the city for a few days and featured Intramuros a little bit of history before you travel to the provinces. You needed a city stay since travel involves ferry and long bus rides to the provinces too. If you go to Ilocos, esp. Vigan, you’ll be able to visit a colonial town with still active/working colonial buildings and houses. While walking in the cobbled stones, you thought you’re transported back in the old times. You’ll definitely see colonial churches in different towns throughout the course of your visit both the North, South and the Visayas. Try visit Paoay church since the design is very different from other towns. It’s baroque and Javanese style. Paoay church is the oldest in Ilocos built in the late 1500 to withstand earthquakes. Be safe in your travels to the off beaten path. Typhoon season is still not over in the country. Flooding and no power is always the result of it and you don’t want to be stuck on your second or third visit this time
Welcome home jumping places♥️

Yes enjoy and be safe
Wow I so love it ❤🇵🇭 I enjoy watching this vedio..thank you Chris and Carol

Really enjoyed this video where you showed the contrast between BGC/Makati and Binondo. Never knew Manila was this expansive in terms of what it offers. I always wondered what BGC was like, but now I know, through your lens. Through out it all, you showcased the food and the warmth of the people, which truly are 2 great reasons for visiting the Philippines. By the way, I loved the music track that played right after you walked & drove by Ayala Avenue. Great video! Loved it.

Hi, Jumping Places. This is a good video, but colonialism is currently on the same street in Manila City. I was surprised when I saw the house on the boarding river. On the water in China Town. Really, I also saw too many salespersons in the streets. One informal economy. Thanks for your impartial showing of Manila City.
I really enjoyed it, the historical side of things is always great way of understanding the locals better! It makes me want to look more into it and learn! Fascinating Have fun Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧 I know what’s coming up is going to be fabulous ❤🎉
