吃瓜的缘起其实是源自一个社会新闻，当时因为一场车祸去采访一个老伯问他当场在那，老伯说''我不知道，我当时在吃西瓜''。下面评论有人说了句''我只是一个不明真相的吃瓜群众''，很快就变成了一个梗（meme) 。这句话在传播过程中逐渐简化，变成了吃瓜，慢慢的现在那些八卦新闻也可以称它为''瓜''😂😂

😂😂😂 you made me laugh so much, my chinese reading and writing is so poor it’s kind of disgraceful. But I’m learning slowly 😅 maybe I need to take a year out and just go study in China... but seriously I loved this vid, probs not confident enough in my chinese texting to us these (not sure if my grandparents would understand hehe) but maybe one day 🤞🤞 Also if you decide to make another sit down vid I’d be super interested in knowing how and why you decided to go to China to study/your experience there. P.s. that mahjong moment was iconic and congrats on 500!!!

吃瓜群众出处是出现乐子的时候有人说前排出售瓜子汽水（给围观群众吃） 然后引申出吃瓜子=围观，后来从吃瓜子传播失真变成吃瓜

😂😂 you always made me laugh! I tried learning Mandarin years ago maaaan it’s the hardest language I can’t even remember a single word now! 😅 the “mwah” sound 😂😂😂 i cannot!

I remember there was a comment under a steam game that goes “辣鸡游戏，不要买。” The publisher of that game, definitely knows nothing about Chinese, replied, “What does spicy chicken game mean?”

The video is so funny, do more like it. Please do a video about different Chinese games indoor and how the English person can play these games. Thanks.

I remembered playing CSGO with Chinese players and one of our teammate was able to ace a round so the others went 牛逼. But at the time I, who's Chinese by race but not nationality, didn't understand it at all and thought they were calling this person "Newbie"(cause Niu Bi). Turns out, it means "Awesome". 老六 is also apparently the term used to call someone who's a pro (I'm guessing it derived from the 666 slang) so I often hear "老六来了“ which means "The pro is here"

520 was the first one I learned because I play a mobile game from China lol

My household speaks chinglish so I’ve always been in a somewhat mandarin environment, but moving to china was a biiiiggie (I also worked at a boba shop in the states to improve before uni LMAO) tyy
