Managing your IBS-D

Ойын-сауық

Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea, IBS-D, is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. Symptoms vary from person to person and can have a significant impact on sufferers. We talk to an expert in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Mark Pimentel, MD, FRCPC, who discusses diagnosis of IBS-D and how important it is to discuss your symptoms with your doctor. There's no need to be embarrassed. We will also hear from two women living with IBS-D, Ashley Walkley and Desiree Guarino, their stories may be different but overall they are very similar to others who struggle to find help.
The good news is, there are ways to manage your IBS-D.

    @@imranshamsuddin7065 I found myself not live anymore. What keeps me motivated is my relationship with God and my wife/kids. The doctor put me on a antihistamine that helps with anxiety-Hydroxyzine. Right now at this moment I am fighting back the urge to have an accident in my pants due to the IBS. I have peppermint oil with me at all times to help calm me down. You can also apply it topically. It’s taken a lot to be even ok with just considering to go outside my house. Now I step outside and conquer my battles one day at a time. Easier said than done.

Im having a fucking insanely stupid disease, ibs is stupid its sick, its even funny sometimes how stupid this ibs shit is. But its not my fucking fault so why i should be embarassed. In 2018 i was scared even to talk with people, thinkin only bout my ibs or panic attacks. But if u change ur mindset it ll be better and better. U cant change it in one day u need time obv. I've had this my entire life. I'm only self diagnosed but it's awful. I went to doctors upon doctors and they never diagnosed me with anything. It's so awful that the doctors in my country don't take IBS as a real condition ( at least to my knowledge). I do have a social life but it's awful feeling sick so often. I feel a bit better now and I try to only eat what my head tells me is good. Sometimes it gets me into awkward situations because somebody cookse something and I unfortunately have to decline because I know I'd get sick afterwards. I kind of got the gist of what makes me sick but there are still things that surprise me. And the worst part is when IBS mixes with my period. I feel like I could shit myself any time then and I just feel like staying home. Gosh. Fuck IBS. I know it's not the worst thing in the world but it's still shit. Quite literally.

And to all of you still in highschool I know it was hard I was even planning on dropping out of highschool or just being homeschooled if it wasnt for it was already my last year after dealing with Ibs already 3 years in. Ask your counselors about a online option or something you never know. Also what I do is carry a ziplock bag of wet wipes it’s ghetto but it works good in your pocket or purse. Honestly for me I love taking online school in college for that very reason. And my social life was basically dead because I didn’t like to go out with ibs but I turned it into something good with being locked up. I played and played guitar so much and now I’m a musician playing gigs. It’s hard to perform with ibs sometimes but we can always take breaks. Also fun facts some famous people with ibs were Kurt cobain, Hitler, Tyra banks, and jfk. I don’t know that stuff just gives me hope. If it wasn’t for ibs I would’ve probably been in the millitsry by now. And I hate flying on airplanes or getting haircuts

Meaning, no eating with friends/family etc, no picnics, no beach lunch, no tailgating, no lunch before a movie, no brunch etc., unless I’m all by myself. Eat first, have guaranteed stomach episodes, then go hang with friends after it’s all over. Incan do that I guess. I should probably keep a Home Depot bucket in my car. Good thing it’s an SUV. What a sad existence. That is no way to live. Oh, and Cologne won’t disguise the fact that you just shit yourself. Pleasant + unpleasant = unpleasant. Nobody will remember the pleasant.

    Took me about 10 years to get diagnosed as my doctors said they tested me originally for it but found they hadn't and I ended up paying to see a specialist who said I have severe IBS. There is so much I can't eat or do and I always make sure I don't go out in the evenings as always worried it will trigger symptoms. I always try to avoid eating when on days out as worried that it will cause problems. I have missed so much work in the past year because of it and surprised I still have a job. I'm taking half a day off work tomorrow to skip the work Christmas party as it made me ill last time I went and I am not going through it again when I don't have to. I got told to take buscopan every day and to avoid wheat, dairy and so many other foods and the past month it seems to have got a little bit better but then flares up again suddenly.

    Embarrassed doesn't even come close to explain the feeling you have when having IBS-D I was mortify the first time I was at work and pooped on myself while I was a manager in a retail chain....you learn to take an extra change of clothes.. having to stay in the bathroom with poop all over you because of course it's diarrhea... Meanwhile while you wait for your husband come to your job to give you a change of clothes is humiliation mortify to the 10th power and being called for customer assistance while you got poop all over you and can't do anything...omgg worst nightmare...or how about pooping in yourself and having to explain to your boss you have to leave work because you pooped on yourself... embarrassed??? • @mary-ue4ir
    @mary-ue4ir Жыл бұрын

    I read the painful heartbreaking stories here and want to offer hope. Why don't I see anyone mentioning the risks and prevalence GMO foods in modern American diets? GMO's are outlawed in many countries including in Europe. Now in America the majority of our foods are labeled as containing Bioengineered ingredients ... multiple preservatives and "natural flavors" which upon research turns out to be derived from aborted fetal cells and different kinds of insects for flavor, sweetness and color. Crickets are now being raised in large factories in Canada and the US and added to basic food ingredients like corn meal, flour etc purchased by snack and other processed food manufacturers so they don't have to be listed by that company on their labels because weren't added by that company. There is very little commercial food sold in American supermarkets that is truly natural food in 2022. No wonder our population is contracting so many digestive disorders. I know for myself there is a medical condition associated with IBS-D but please start reading the labels on the foods you buy and become aware of what you are actually eating. At the very least, what food you do eat should be fresh, clean and as natural and organic if possible. Your drinking water should not be city tap water in which many contaminants are found. If there's anyway you can filter it... you really should. Water is life and #1 in importance. My prayers for everyone who is suffering so much with pain and difficulty. If you pray, try to remember to always pray over you food and drink for it to be blessed and made wholesome and healing to your body and with thanksgiving to receive it, when so many in these times go without. My prayers continue for all of you to overcome these issues with our health and return to a strong vibrant life.

    I'm sorry to hear that your IBS caused you even more pain during childbirth and that it's taken such a toll on your life since. My channel is dedicated to helping peopel with IBS get better (I had it myself but it's been gone for 15 years) so you might find some help there!

    You can try praying for healing of your anus and birth canal. CBD oil helps my mom so she doesn't have as much IBS- D. I have experienced healing when I simply pray a prayer of blessings for Benny Hinn's ministry: www.BennyHinn.org Its a christian ministry. I also experience healing when I pray for the world (angels for the missing and abused, salvation for the criminals and everyone else, persecuted Christians, natural disasters, poverty, sickness/ desease etc.) I also experience healing when I donate.

    I have this and I'm only 16. I can never go anywhere and I have to do my schoolwork at home a lot. Its taken over my life and I feel like I won't be able to graduate as I'm getting so behind in my schoolwork because of it.

    @@littlebear9842 Hey don't give up. You have to keep Researching natural cures repeatedly, because there's natural things you can do. Such as taking digestive enzymes, HCL with pepsin, Molybdenum, gluten free, dairy free, don't forget to eat your hamburger ect... some say going full meat has helped them a lot. I have to do Keto than carbs back and forth.But I have to keep the meat in or it totallyy messes me up if i do vegan. Yes you heard me, going meatless is not good for the body. Trust me I know I was vegan for awhile and it only messed my body up. I'm almost back to normal, but I'll get bouts of diarrhea and constipation. Much more constipation and pain, but pain isn't so bad anymore.
