My IBS pain always happens at night. Once I’m calm and relaxed. My IBS attacks are so painful I can’t even breathe and I feel like I’ve been poisoned and I have to do anything to get it out. Before I have an IBS attack I breakout in a hot sweats and I instantly feel like my body is shutting down. It’s so bad.

That sounds awful Payton, hope you're ok. Are there any things that help when you're having an IBS attack? Peppermint tea is the only thing that helps me x

Becky Excell usually just emptying my system completely calms a attack, but the days after an attack I feel very awful. I will have to try that! Any specific brand that is better or that you like that helps? I do not take any medication for my IBS. So tea sounds like a great alternative!

Tere T all over, it’s almost like that feeling of an upset stomach or having to go to the restroom really bad and having to hold it but a general idea would just feel like instant poison that I have to get out no matter what or how. There’s no side just my entire stomach.

Does anyone else hate their life sometimes because of their IBS? :,( gotta stay positive though I guess. Edit: July 9 2020 I had no idea that a comment I made years ago - probably in the bathroom not having fun - would be like the top comment. Since then I’ve figured out that schedules help ME. Sticking to a schedule every day whether it’s sleeping waking up or eating etc. I went to the ER the other week for the first time because my stomach hurt THAT bad. Back on my daily routine more sense I’ve been back and it helps. I’ve tested cutting out a lot of foods and many have helped. I apologize to anyone and everyone with this type of pain - I get it, but it’s what we’ve got. Try your best. Oh and exercising really helps me but I know for others it makes it worse. Stay hydrated and such. Anyways, I know it’s a long read but stay strong y’all! And thank you to the OP for making this video

All the time. On the plus side, when I did professional bmx, no pain a ramp or jump could cause could compete with my stomach pain, so maybe was straight up suicidal in the air. If I died, the pain would be gone, and if I live, I just pulled something glorious that I can see in videos decades later. Career wise though, man I’m lucky I got as far as I could, but it’s still hard. I had some life changing opportunities the last two weeks and I had to turn them down, very depressed about that

Ibs is a nightmare just thinking about it. I stay away from all the foods that they say cause it but it’s crazy how I eat normal things sometimes in very small portions and get the most unbearable abdominal pain. And I also eat things that should trigger IBS but nothing happens!! So it’s very unpredictable really !! The pain is usually on my middle upper abdominal area but can also shit to the sides. It sometimes starts with heartburn and slowly develops into bloating and the worst painful cramps. I feel like I’m too full and gassy and I can’t release any gas. No amount of water can solve the issue. It also sometimes feel like drinking water can make the situation feel worse. And then comes Constipation. The worst pain is when I wan to sleep or during sleep. I sometimes wake up from the pain and find myself in face down ass up position. I also sometimes make my self throw up to ease up the discomfort. It sometimes last a day or 3 days sometimes 4. Nothing I tried worked. The worst for me is the pain. Unfortunately it’s not like a headache, you can’t just take pain killer for it. All anti spasms medications didn’t manage the pain much for me. My problem with all the advices I got from doctors or saw online they don’t touch much on pain management. Peace and love ☮️ ❤️ Please share your experience with me and if you relate I would appreciate some advice on pain management

It is! You cannot even truly begin to convey just how much it hurts. If to be honest, the obvious go-to pain sites will be your stomach, abdomen, colon/rectum & anus. Hemorrhoids are a near constant. Then there's the immense torture that is cramping, bloating & gas. You begin to plan your entire life around "what if my stomach flares up". It becomes a secondary sense always to (and needing to) know where the bathroom is wherever you are. Preemptively bringing an extra pair of underwear with you or having a pair stashed away in the car for those unexpected moments (though, sort of expected or else why be doing it in the first place). It's a living Hell. Everyone at my work knows my situation and if I'm ever trapped in the bathroom and can't make it in for my shift because I'm 💩 my brains out, I simply call in to say "hey, my stomach...can't make it today sorry" or that I'll be there but it's gonna be a wee little bit. And there's the recovery time afterwards. With IBS, you use every muscle, tendon, ligament etc. when going 💩. Upon completion, you are left literally exhausted and able to do nothing physically assertive nor demanding but to lift a finger and point. It is the absolute worst! Rant over.

Well girl.. I know EXACTELY how you feel. My IBS pain can be so so bad. I get horrible cramps with diarrhea and throwing up at random times. I sometimes pass out coz of the pain. I dont feel taken serious. Im from holland and employers dont really get it. The pain is so so bad that working is difficult. Some employers have said it's between my ears. Uhh well I've been diagnosed with IBS and to hear my employer say something like that hurts. I can't get out of the house sometimes because of the pain. I have to sit it out on the toilet with a bucket to puke in. My bf makes me peppermint tea and rubs my back for hours while im on the toilet. Bless him cause the smell can be horrible. 💩 I think there still isn't enough awareness for IBS. I'm writing this sitting on my toilet taking a breath before the cramping returns. It's like being in labour for me. They're colic pains and come and stay for 10 mins and i have to inhale and breath and focus on a certain object to not lose my mind. And then they pass. After a few mins they return and so on. And this can last up to 4 hours. My bf has called the emergency ambulance a couple of times cause I was passing out. But as soon as they found out that you suffer from IBS they get all cranky that they were called. Like it isn't a real disease or something. Well the pain is bloody real! I'm sweating like a pig when those colics come up. It's messed up. Cause like you said yourself.. Even when you haven't eaten something wrong, the pain can still occur. I feel so alone in this sometimes. This can happen up to 3 times a week and is disabling. I'm complety knackered the next day after the colic pains have passed. It is "just" IBS.. well it feels like a horrible flare up from IBD or colon cancer or something. Whished IBS got the same interest around here. 😕 Good luck to you. Your little clips help ppl. Here I am in pain but watching your clip helps me to get trough. Thnx

@@miahmarieeeeee this is so strange that you're asking me this today on this day. Like you knew haha. Cause today I found out via vaginal echoscopy that I suffer severe endometriosis. And that that is probably the cause of all my bowel pain and problems. The gynecologist said a correct diagnosis can take 8 to 12 years. It has been mistaken for IBS. But since it is so severe now it has affected my bowels. The endometriosis is also in my bowels that the IBS is probably a cause of that. I've had endometriosis exams in 2015 and nothing was there. But my new gyno says it must've been there. I've been in extreme bowel and backpain for 3 years now and my gp said it's just sciatica and IBS. Well it's not. It's the endometriosis that grew out of my ovaries and has affected everything. I'm really sad. Cause I've been in extreme menstrual pain as well since I started menstruating as a young girl. It has always been said this was my bowel or just stress or that I have low pain tolerance. And now it's too late. I'm not fertile anymore. If my gp had listened to me earlier in life things mightve been different. Then again.. Why they didn't see endo in 2015 is a rhydle. How are you doing yourself??

the pain can be related to a nerve reaction from the autonomous nervous system or your immune system, triggering your IBS symptoms within minutes. Bloating and pain is such a downer, but also literally, my gastrointestinal specialist explained that serotonin the mood regulating hormone is produced and absorbed in the gut, so any disturbance with digestion or the intestines can effect your mood greatly! hence why bowel conditions are linked with depression and anxiety. Also really relate to the feeling fat comment! I'm actually thin, and on the lowest end of my healthy bmi weight, but when IBS causes bloat and pain I look so puffy and my clothing won't fit

I'm so happy to find these kinds of videos. Even though everyone has different symptoms these videos promote solidarity and help people understand others and what's going on with their own bodies. I've been diagnosed with a bunch of stuff over the years, because there's something going on with my system that no one can really identify. I have really the whole scale of problems with my digestive system and my hormones as well. I have a doctor's appointment coming this December and I'm anxious to bring up IBS because I don't wanna be seen as a hypochondriac patient. It's hard but research helps as does seeing other people go through similar situations. I just had a stomach cramp this morning and had to just slowly walk around for an hour hunched over to ease it over. Sending everyone strength and hope. 🍀

I've just recently learned to manage some of the symptoms (with things like ginger chews, essential oil rollers, and tea) and I had no idea any of this was IBS related- I get the massive bloating, awful nausea, bad abdominal pain, stress-related indigestion (I used to get it every single morning when I pulled up to school), and just the most temperamental stomach- I feel so relieved to know that I'm not alone in this, and that there's nothing seriously wrong with me, thank you so much for making this video!

Thank you for the video, IBS has been with me since I was in my twenties now I am in my fifties so unfortunately I have suffered from it a lot. I can totally relate to what you said about social life, you have to plan everything thinking about a possible IBS attack. Three years ago I was diagnosed with celiac disease and with the gluten free diet my IBS condition improved quite a lot . My worst part of the day is right after waking up in the morning, there were times that I really struggled to get ready to be on time for work and that gave me more stress. Another detail I can share after so many years is the fact that winter time is the best season of the year for break outs and the worst is spring and summer to some extend.

I don't nap but if I wake up in the night or early in the morning and lie there awake I do get this. I don't know if it's the position I'm lying in, but it seems to always happen. I was diagnosed with ibs, gerd, and acid reflux at 15. I'm 30 now and just went in for my second colonoscopy this week in my life. They were checking to make sure my issues were not turning into Crohn's, I understand your pain and have lived with it most of my life. Thankfully I do not have Crohn's but my mother does and I just hope that mine never turns into it. I don't have to go back for another colonoscopy until I'm 45 so that's a good sign at least. Thanks for talking about this openly, I thought about doing the same but I don't have the courage LOL. Thanks for speaking up on behalf of us that suffer with it as well as you. It really is a full-time job.

I get in my head and think that if I have this is life worth it but then think about my child. This truly is horrible and I'm happy I found this channel cause I can't tell you how many times I've cried... I've dealt with IBS pain my entire life (even when I was a small child) and no one understood and just assumed I was faking to get out of school and such. 20ish years later and I still have the same problem and unfortunately do not know what my food triggers are, as it seems to be almost everything. IBS pain is definately a large part of my life too and I can relate to this video so much

The pain being instantaneous is EXACTLY how I feel, too! Pain or nausea/discomfort is lightning fast if I'm eating something I'm not sure about (I cannot pinpoint trigger foods at ALL--ANYTHING can set me off). All I do after that is have peppermint tea or tons of water to try to encourage burps or bathroom trips, so the pain/discomfort/bloating passes. I'm so grateful for all your IBS videos. I was diagnosed earlier this year after six months of rapid, terrifying weight loss, intense nausea and d problems that had me literally pass out from exhaustion, but this is the first time I looked up videos of other people's experiences with it. It's both heartbreaking and encouraging to hear someone express exactly what I've been enduring for a year+ now.

Thanks for your videos, they are extremely helpful for someone who Has only been diagnosed 6 months. I'm now on fodmap diet, I'm watching your shopping videos to get some ideas on what I can eat. I've been prescribed IBS medication for the constant pain. I also take painkillers. Tomorrow, I'll start taking additional prescribed medication and book another blood test. Like you, it's taking over my days and my nights. I'm keeping a food diary now but nothing seems to be ok for me to eat. I had a long talk to senior GP today and he confirmed everything I've learnt- scientists don't know what causes it and it's a symptomatic syndrome so there cannot be evidence for its existence. Hurrah! Isn't it so nice to know that!!!! :(

Wow! I have just came across your channel, after finding out that the pain I have suffered from for almost 18 years and been taking tramadol for could actually be down to IBS. The more I hear about it, the more I can see the dots joining together. I can understand the 'episodes' as I call them if I've eaten something that doesn't agree and sometimes out of the blue for no apparent reason or trigger to cause them, they are pretty nasty and crippling when they happen, but it's the constant pain that's confusing and SO annoying. 😢. Constantly nagging away day in day out. I feel I relate to what you've said on practically every level. It makes you feel so anti social and almost afraid to eat, especially if your having a day of fairly mild pain, you don't want to upset the slight relief but then it seems to kick off no matter what. Sorry for waffling on but it really is a relief to know it isn't in my head (which I had been told previously, but they never thought to mention IBS until now!) I had no previous problems at all, it started about three months after I had my twin daughters by c-section, and I always maintained that the whole process had upset the natural limbo of my body and it now appears I could have bee right. Keep up the great videos and thank you for sharing, it's a relief to know I'm not a freak lol.

Hi Deborah, thanks for the message 😇 Sorry to hear about your problems but I'm glad there is some comfort in knowing you aren't the only one. That's why I make these videos it helps me too to feel a little less odd! It's hard to convey to those who don't have IBS that pain can be constant etc and come about from something so small. I think the fact that everyone's IBS is so different means that there must be so many reasons why it is caused too, so maybe it was something to do with that for you. I really hope that yours improves, it's not fair is it! xx

So my lower stomach will start to feel off. Then as the day goes on it gets worse. Then out of no where it hits me and I literally fall to the ground into a ball with how bad I’m in pain. People just don’t understand unless you have it. I always get weird looks and stuff from people. I can’t help it when it feels like someone is stabbing me in my intestines. I currently am enduring a pretty severe flare. It’s come at a very inconvenient time of my finals for college, which was probably the trigger as well. I also have really bad period cramps right now and I haven’t left my dorm room at all the past two days. My most frustrating symptom is what I like to call brain fog. I just can’t focus on anything and if I make myself focus on a lecture or a book I get really nauseous and end up throwing up and then I will randomly get a really heavy bloody nose that makes me pass out from the heavy blood loss

News or anything , so what biggest would happen I would Just fail, doing This fear of failure would deminish And you will enjoy the process rather than anxious try this

I’m 22 and began this journey with IBS officially 2 years ago. I have had a “sensitive” stomach my whole life but nothing compared to now. Just like her, once I eat something like basil pesto, I instantly feel abdominal pain and nausea. I take famotidine and omeprazole 2x a day. It gets hard sometimes mentally, definitely gets in the way of living a normal life. I wouldn’t wish this on my worse enemy

Becky, you are literally a wonderful person, beautiful from inside and outside and so spontaneous, which give me lots of relief and confidence about my IBS, as I've just discovered I'm not alone. I've had this more than 7 years and finally I'm working on it. I have just started low FODMAP diet. Not big improvement yet, but hope this will work soon.

39 y old male here. I’ve had IBS for about 5 years now. Started as terrible diarrhoea and stomach pain. I turned to a low FODMAP diet - completely cutting out wheat, dairy, onions and many other things. It helped a lot and stopped the awful diarrhoea but after a few years I now just seem to have constant stomach pain and bloating, even without eating any trigger foods. Similar to you, it’s worse from afternoon onwards. I’ve seen specialists and spoken to my doctor a lot but tend to get nowhere. Did a few months of Symprove probiotics and not seen any improvement. My next plan is to test for SIBO, also do a comprehensive stool test to rule out anything like parasites. It’s becoming quite debilitating so will keep tying to figure out what to do.
