Managing Adult ADHD by going back to the basics

This week, Dave talks about managing your adult #ADHD by returning to the basics.
All too often we see on social media the complexities of managing ADHD. And while everyone with ADHD is different and responds to all types of strategies and methods to thrive, sometimes what is most effective is going right back to basic core strategies of good ADHD management.
In this shorter episode of Overcoming #Distractions, Dave talks about how to go right back to the basics of ADHD.
He talks about the power of self-awareness and understanding your strengths and weaknesses. He talks about how to stay away from negative forces and groups and think for yourself when it comes to developing strategies around ADHD. Dave also discusses some mind and body such as making time to just get out and move in the power of being obsessed with your own #timemanagement.
Dave also shares a couple months of traditional ADHD tips that go right back to the basics.

So true. I think sometimes we make managing our ADHD too complicated which in my opinion only makes matters worse.

Honestly my adhd got so much easier to handle when I mostly left social media. Now when I check in it’s almost repulsive (in that it sends me the opposite direction 😆). Re traditional advice; one phrase I found really useful is “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.” At first exposure I sort of recoiled from it until it was explained to me, but it basically means that a half done job is better than not getting to it at all. So if all you have in you on one particular day is the ability to wash one or two dishes and then leave the rest sitting? That beats doing none of them. It was revolutionary for me because I grew up under very high expectations and pressure to do things well. A la classic perfectionism. So when I grew up and that standard got harder to maintain I’d burn out a lot and things were really overwhelming. Permission to do it “badly” or in bits and pieces was amazing.

I think you are right that we can at least get something done and it can make us feel better. Doesn’t always have to be perfect!
