You clearly didn’t watch the entire case. This video says PART ONE. It was not about money at all. The cousin was a complete fraud. Stop making misled comments about half stories. It’s annoying.

My father saw a case like this, but it was SO much worse. This woman cared for her mother for her entire life. The mother emotionally and psychologically abused the daughter, and controlled all of her movements. The daughter wasn't allowed to go out without permission, and definitely wasn't allowed any friends or a boyfriend at any point in her life. The mother lived into her 90s and when she died she left everything to the local cats shelter. The daughter, who was seventy, had no one and nothing, as it was all taken, her only home, her belongings, everything except her clothes were put into the estate and given to the charity (I am still disappointed in the charity for accepting the donation, knowing where it came from, they could have at least let her live there for the remainder of her life before taking it). The local community rallied and got her into a boarding house with free meals for the rest of her life, which was only a couple of years. Her whole life was spent looking after her mother, and her mother being the spiteful (insert expletive here) she was, made sure her daughter would have nothing without her, even in death. Don't expect anything from anyone and live as though you will get nothing.

At my Mom's bank right before she passed. SIL walked in, announced to the officer "This isn't about $$". When she went to the restroom, the officer, who I knew very well, told me "I've been doing this a long time. Anyone who says that is always all about the $$. Be careful." And I was. After she passed, we find out from the attorney that Mom had put the house in my name. (Told the lawyer that she and my brother got enough $$ from her over the years.) Tried to sue. Man, I miss my brother...

I took care of my dad for 8 years. No help from my bothers. Only to turn around and found out one had a life insurance on him and didn't help bury him or get a headstone. I did. Found out a year later that 100,000 was paid. Never said anything to him about it cause I would still rather have my dad. I'm still mourning him.

I did the same with my mum. I was happy mum left everything equally to us all as I know she loved us all equally. Despite me being the on to stay to care for and look after her, I would do it all again to have her back. Now 10 years later, I no longer have a sibling relationship with my sisters. Greed got in the way on their part. I would have done anything for them because I love them. They don’t realise that money is temporary.

Reminds me of my brother. Noone helped me with our mom. I'm disabled,had surgeries yet worked on her house,took care of her before she died. Brother got mad it was all left to me . Turned me into irs. Who needs enemy's when you have family

I never really knew my older brothers until our mother died. I don't have any family pictures or even my own school photos or any of my report cards. I'm 68 so I guess I'll never see them again.

My Aunt died. She left some money to me and 1 sister. But I have 2 other sisters and 2 brothers who received nothing. My sister and I pooled the money we got and then divided it up between all of us. The Aunt was not the nicest person in the world. I felt she wanted to cause problems even in death by not being fair. We took care of that.

@@ninosimone You cannot infer that at all. In my Will, I've left the bulk of my estate not to people who I am closest to or who have helped me the most, but to the people I know who need it the most. My much closer friends and family are reasonably well off, know this and are in complete agreement - the reason I told them is in order to avoid them being surprised or resentful should I die (which hopefully won't happen any time soon).

Had a friend who's father was awarded a sizeable settlement in a class action suit. She was in charge of handling the money when he passed. I told her to be careful because when it came to money families can turn very quickly. She assured me they weren't like that. Things went fairly smoothly until her mother became ill with terminal cancer a very short time later. As soon as mom passed the tide turned and WWIII erupted. She was in shock that her siblings could be so greedy. But, sorry to say, I told her. It happens all the time.

I wish he would just be honest that he likely felt unappreciated that he was the one taking care of his sister, yet she left everything to her cousin who may not have done as much for her. Even if he took care of her out of the goodness of his heart or obligation not expecting all her money in turn, that would still make most people feel slighted like it was intentional that she left him nothing, so it's ok to admit that. The fact that he tries to act like the money didn't bother him at all makes me question his credibility and intentions...Like what are you trying to hide.

It may not be all about the money, but it is a factor and he shouldn't feel like he has to be fake and pretend it's not. Of course he felt slighted - he's human, materialistic or not. It still didn't change the fact that the cousin took what was owed to him in a sneaky underhanded way through the insurance payment, so he didn't have to hide his feelings when she's obviously the more greedy person among them.

Those commenting should watch the subsequent clips. He was right to do what he did. He's not suing for his sister's money, he's suing for the legal fees based on her lies about him while she was committing insurance fraud. She got that money from the late relative and was so greedy she implicated him in a crime to net herself more money.

Frustrating to care and not be repaid

I thought he was initially just a envious brother who wanted the money in this 1st part ... but hold on...part 2&3 show a big twist!

I’m older and have seen a life time of various families greed for dying family member’s belongings. I worked 30 years in nursing). Families are often over rated(definitely rarely kind and loving).

As an attorney, one thing that does irritate me about courts, even though this is tv court, is when people want to speak and btw have a constitutional right to speak and the judge does not let them because they see themselves as God. What judges forget is that they are paid by the people to work for the people, including plaintiffs and defendants.

This isn't a legal US or state/city/county courtroom. If it was, none of them (Judy, or Mathis, or Brown or whoever) wouldn't be acting like this & would be heavily censured if they did. All these TV courts are actually binding arbitration. All the plaintiffs & defendants sign contracts agreeing to the arbitration, and the winners are actually paid by the show's producers out of a fund allocated for it (per Wikipedia's JJ entry). Whoever loses does not pay. Look at how Judy acts in all her cases -- you said it yourself that JJ is acting against their constitutional rights, which she could not do if she was sitting in a true court of law; I think the producers also pay flight/hotel costs for the plaintiffs & defendants to bring them to the studio. This is just independent arbitration, staged for TV. While it is a legal decision per the contracts everyone signs agreeing to abide by them, it's not actual court like you would present a case in. Look up the wiki entries on JJ and other such shows; they're enlightening.

While watching this I was worried that he is having a stroke because he was still so irritated.

I was a carpenter/builder for more than 3 decades, owning my own small company for 8 yrs. If his wife a "Contractor" as in builder and constantly moving around country, that screams one thing to me....bad reputation, NEEDED to keep moving around, scammers, poor quality, etc., etc., etc....

I came into this video thinking "wow, a man who would move across the country to take care of his sister, that's amazing." JJ debunked that fantasy in less than 30 seconds lol.

I’ve seen this with parents with many kids. Parents rarely leave their money and property to the sibling that cared for them. They leave it to the most incompetent of their children because they know that the others will be okay regardless but not their weakling. It’s always best to prepare for this beforehand.

Families are complicated messes when ppl start dying.

Incorrect - the Bible teaches that the LOVE of money is the root of evil. Money itself is neither good nor bad, it's our feeling & actions about money that make it a good thing or not so much. It sure can piss folks off.

My dad left all his money to his shack up live in honey. I didn't go suing his girlfriend for money. My dad earned it, it was his money. He could leave it to anyone he wanted.

My grandfather left all his estate to a charity because he’d fallen out with my uncle. He knew if he left my dad the estate then dad would give some of the inheritance to my uncle. He also made dad a trustee. You can’t make it up.

She probably made the will long before he went to take care of her.

“This wasn’t monetarily driven.” (As he does summersaults from a standing position and describes being a care giver for MONTHS…..)

To all those trashing the brother, watch the entire thing! Plot twist!

It's clear the sister saw he only took care of her just to get the money, and she pulled a little sneaky sneaky on him lol.

The irritation he felt was based on entitlement not care for his sister.

By listening to the plaintiff, he is ANGRY the sister left her OWN $$$ to her cousin INSTEAD of him 😀😀😀

The fact the sister didn’t leave him anything, after taking care of her…. That’s some cold shit.

He's giving off the "I was only there for her, to collect, in her time of need and end of life care. I deserve compensation for taking care of her." like your sister was dying. Be glad you had those moments with her before her passing. Money is always nice yes but death isn't about money and if you were only in it for that reason you are disgusting person.

His lawsuit is about the money he needed to clear his name when the cousin falsely accused him of fraud. He doesn’t want his sisters money.

If he was helping just to get her money, his sister totally felt his vibe and did the right thing

So she let her brother help with him under the assumption that he would be getting something all the while knowing that she wasn't going to give him anything. Sounds like apples from the same tree (her and the brother).

@@MelancholicAwesomnes if that was the case, how would her feelings be communicated? He’s supposedly acting “altruistic”, is she supposed to stop him and say “hey by the way, thanks for showing up, but I’m not leaving you any money”? This sort of thing isn’t really contracted out in the end. Surprises in wills are common after someone passes. He shouldn’t have assumed he was entitled to anything.

@@l-train7876 End of life care is emotionally and physically taxing. If he wasn't there to do it then she would have had to have paid someone else to do it (out of pocket or with insurance). I cannot imagine the type of person that thinks it's okay to let someone be there caretaker as they near their death but feel like that same person shouldn't get anything afterwards. I'm not saying the brother is 100% on the up and up but the sister was no Saint.

Just from the few minutes I saw the P. and his angst, I can see why he wasn't left anything. I can't deal with people like this.

A will is a will. Period

Saw this entire case when it aired. No matter what he goes on about, it was all about the fact that his sister left everything to the cousin. He went on and on ad nauseum about other things but it was obvious that’s what it was about.

He sued for definmation cause the cousin lied about him stealing to get insurance money. He only sued for 800$ which was the lawyer fee he spent because she accused him.
