That’s what I was thinking, my heart goes out to her family and friends. The rule is you need to have enough life jackets on the boat for all passengers, but for god sakes If you can’t swim or your a weak swimmer, there no embarrassment in wearing a life jacket, I hope out of this tragedy, people at least learn that, this video just shows how very few seconds it takes for things to go horribly wrong. Just tragic and so preventable.

They are not smart enough to recognize the danger-ocean currents and alcohol a deadly combo always. A non swimmer in the miami river would a last a few minutes if that on the surface due to the constant chop and strong undertow currents.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but RIP to Trevonte “Vonn” Johnson of Mississippi, who was on vacation and on a chartered boat. Since I don’t see it posted yet, Miami Fire divers responded, found his body at the bottom of the river, initiated CPR, and transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His family has hired attorneys and blames the charter company and captain for negligence due to the fact that the captain could not conduct a safety briefing because he did not speak English. Many props to the numerous bystanders who risked their own lives to try to save him, and to the Fire department who tried to revive him, but they were all unsuccessful. Details of how he fell overboard are still unclear and the family is seeking witnesses. No further information into the incident is known at this time.

IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO SWIM, REMEMBER THIS : 1. Roll over on your back, face up, you will automatically float. 2. Slowly move your arms back and forth, helping to maintain buoyancy. Same with your legs. 3. Relax your head and don’t try to lift it out of the water. Just let your face barely break the surface of the water. 4. Most importantly; DO NOT PANIC! - You can easily maintain that position for many many hours, if not days. - I hope someone will read this and be able to save their own life some day.

I was fishing with my father once when a boat sank in current with 3 people on board. We recovered two males from the surface of the water before they drowned, but the female held onto the boat and went down. She surfaced 2 times without us getting her as she swirled around in bubbling whirlpools. She was wearing black and was incredibly hard to spot. The third time she resurfaced was 12 to 13 minutes after she drowned. Her companion that we just rescued took a fishing rod reached deep down as she was disappearing again and wrapped the fishing line around her neck, and slowly raised her to the surface where we dragged her in. My father tried mouth to mouth immediately and was not successful. We then went to shore which was 50 yards away and resumed mouth to mouth once again. It had to be past 15 minutes, but the water was cold. Suddenly pink foam began to bubble out of her mouth as she slowly started breathing again. I think blood vessels must have burst when she was deep down with the boat. We started a fire and went to look for somebody with spare clothing, leaving her unconscious by the fire with her companion. We knew there were people just around the corner. When we returned she was awake and sitting close to the fire. Being 35 minutes from the landing we knew we had to warm her. Literally had to drag her into the boat to get back to landing, as she was hysterical. This was only a 16 foot boat with a 25 hp motor. My father was recognized by local groups as a hero and received awards. She sent presents at Christmas to our family every year till she passed at an old age. Life changing for a 11 year old me.

You are wrong! It was a male. And there is nothing wrong with showing a rescue! You don't like it. Don't watch it!

Please get right with Jesus Christ! Today is the day for salvation...we are not guaranteed tomorrow. This person is either in heaven or hell. Please make sure you will go to heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
