    @@hamsterminator Superman never really "unlocks" his abilities. His ability centers around his alien form being supercharged by the "yellow sun".(although in reality, our star is actually mostly white with a turquois tint if viewed from far enough away) Superman literally gets more powerful the longer he stays in our solar system soaking up radiation, which is why it is always a juggle dampening his powers to not just break cities walking around. His power scaling is literally just "time".

    MOS was incredible just incredible, it is the BEST Superman film ever created, it shows so many different sides to Clark the trails and tribulations of the strongest being on the planet growing up, trying to blend in, finding himself all the while he experiences the good and bad sides to humanity and sometimes showing such restraint like not saving his father from that Tornado because hisfather told him not too so Clark didn't reveal himself to early on was really moving, it also helps to have an incredible actor like Henry Cavill really become one with the character mentally not just physically, even if DC fired him they can never destroy or tarnish this film any other actor they cast for Superman has to exceed Henry and I don't think thats ever going to happen.

    I always loved this scene for the fire and the reaction of everyone. However, one thing always bugs me about EVERY Superman movie...they just can't seem to stick with the consistency of the scale of his powers. One minute he can hurl trains across continents, the next minute he's straining to keep an oil rig from falling. One minute he's travelling across the landscape at supersonic speed, the next minute he's watching the flash as time slows.

    Don’t forget this is Superman’s origin story and he’s traveling the world to find his place and discovering who he is. It wasn’t until his first flight scene that he decides to keep testing his limits

  • @jimgilbert9984

    @jimgilbert9984

    7 ай бұрын

    Alright, let's look at this objectively... Yes, he's straining to hold up the rig. Why? Because the thing weighs at least 250,000 TONS. Plus, it's not a balanced object meant to be held up at that location in that way. Which meant he had to use more strength to hold that bloody thing up. Furthermore, he wasn't just holding it up. He was holding it up in such a way that it would all stay together to give the chopper time to get away. So, holding up a massive weight that's not meant to be held together at that point while it's breaking apart around you. And let us not forget that this was the hardest that he'd ever extended himself up to this point. This was a strain not only on his strength, but also on his body. Super-strength is all well and good, but a person with just the strength to do that would rip his muscles from his bones and then shatter his bones into powder doing that. Those stories about mothers who lift cars off of their babies don't tell you the physical toll the act takes on their bodies. So Clark pushed his invulnerability past its previous limits to just hold the bloody thing up. And then he gets slammed and compressed by the entirety of the rig. So, yeah, he ends up floating in the water not moving for a while as he recovers.

    Honestly this whole scene felt alot more like a more serious version of Hancock and im all for it. I would absolutely love a movie like that. The hero doing shit like this but has his own limitations so something like holding up the oil rig is actually hard for him. Idk just something id rather see than copy/paste "I can do everything"

    Given that the writers have full control of their stories, you'd think they'd have enough self respect to be at least slightly less random in their decisions about the strength and abilities of super heroes. From one minute to the next, what they can do changes totally.

    Smallville has a really good explanation for this, when Clark plays high school football. Basically, he uses his super quick reflexes to allow hits to look natural ands nerfs his speed and reactions to look like a normal human. He has been doing it his whole life to fit in. He wasn't caught off guard he let it happen.

    From METROPOLIS (a graphic-novel-retelling of the silent movie using characters from the Superman mythos): "But what could any mere human do in this emergency? Anyone touching those [incandescent vats] would be burnt - charred to a shriveled, blackened crisp! Did she think their 'savior' would drop down from heaven to save [it]? He could only do so if he could grab the white-hot [pipes]... and that NO man can do!"

    To everyone complaining about the 'power levels' WE GET IT. But lets see your proposal to inject drama and conflict into a movie where the protagonist is *checks notes* literally Superman. Movies take liberties with the source material. its how you cram tons of lore into like 2 hours of storytelling...

    Johnatan Kent: "Let people die, even me, just to protect your identity Clark Kent: " I will let my father die but then I will go out to save people all over the world without taking care of my identity despite my father's sacrifice to the point that a journalist with relative ease knows who I am even before I become Superman." Snyder killed the DCU and no one else.
