That was the first thought after seeing the squad. It is, obviously, easy to talk after the game, but I think Fernandinho would fit better for this game and Sterling hadn't been playing much lately, so it was probably better to put Foden in his position.

I know pep was going to over think the final...he tried to put ball playing midfielders to control the game. Psychologically I know those two defeat was playing on his mind. The first time we beat Pep he started his B side lol, the second defeat he played 3 3 3 1 formation lol lol and the third defeat he didnt start Fernandhino or Rodri lol lol. Pep allow Tuchel to outshine him once again ...as a chelsea fan I am happy for Kante, Azpi, Thiago , Giroud etc....legends at the club that one this important Trophy 🏆🏆. Come on you 💙💙💙💙

Really? You really think so? And how many games have you managed as a coach? You're questioning the decisions of arguably the best coach in the world? Pep knew exactly what he was doin'. Fernandiho could not control the midfield 'cause Chelsea are far too good in that position with Kante, so he opted for a more dynamic midfield that is quick and can pass the ball around Kante and co.. Anyway you look at it, Chelsea's squad is Man City's kryptonite - the way Chelsea plays just negates City's threat and Pep knew this, hence his change in team selection. Chelsea has youth and quality - it is very difficult to beat a team like that unless the team is built around beating Chelsea or the players don't turn up on the day. Unfortunately for Pep, Chelsea were at the races today.

Tuchel’s big tactical win. Chelsea’s finishing was the only thing that could prevent this outcome.

Pep Guardiola Basically SPAT ON Fernandinho and Rodri’s FACES for Their Efforts For 60-65 Games This Season to then just pick an Un-Natural Holder Gundogan to hold over them. Gundogan can barely run or make a tackle let alone stop Counter attacks.

The fault was sterling too, gundogan plays more offensive he was not in his role today and that affects de bruyne too cuz the one who support him is gundogan, tuchel blocked debruyne and mahrez's side and he let sterling run 90 minutes cuz he knew he wasn't dangerous he is off form !!

You would pick the team that got you there: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Dias, Zinchenko, Fernandinho/Rodri, Gundogan, Silva, Foden, Mahrez, De Bruyne. If they don't perform you played your best 11, no regrets

People do not give this man enough credit for how good he is and what he has done to Man City. One game, he missed and some City fans are complaining about how he doesn't know what he's doing. Such bs. From the 62 possible games in the English top flight in all competitions when in the elite European competition, this man got you to 61 of them, reaching the Final of the Champions League, Winning the Carabao Cup, Semi-Final of the FA Cup (only one more win away from playing each competition until it's final stage) and Winning the English top flight itself. And you're complaining that he's a poor manager that doesn't know what to do in big games? I'm a fucking Chelsea fan and I respect this guy so highly and appreciate what he's done for City. He done what he thought was best and that's that. It doesn't always work out. Avram Grant got us to runners-up for the treble in 2008. Using one of the best Chelsea teams in our history. It doesn't always work out and you just have to keep working towards it. We didn't win our first Champions League final either. But persistence and experience in the squad at these highest levels will only help and make the team stronger and unified. I am sure City will win a Champions League, it's just a matter of when. But doesn't mean you lose faith in the manager that brought you so much. I'm not saying it's all City fans, but I've just read so much hate on him I'm fed up. Some Chelsea fans do the same on some managers that brought us many trophies and I would too say something similar to them, so I'm not biased for that.

That’s what happens when you prefer your ego and Sterling over being pragmatic and play the team that got you to the final.

A new tactics in the CL final is like your teacher teaching a method to solve a particular equation throughout the year and your teacher telling you to use another technique to solve that same equation in the eleventh hour in an examination. If we used the same lineup we did against PSG we could have played better and even if we lost, the loss would be acceptable. Understand the point I'm trying to make here. I'm not saying we would have won, I'm saying that with that lineup, there was no way any of our players would be able to give their all and not giving ur all sucks more than losing. And no, with that lineup there was no way we were going to win. I literally stopped watching the match after half time because Pep did not do any tactical changes for the second half at all. If we would have won, it would be by a miracle.

Chelsea hands down was a better team tonight even if Pep played Ferna and Rodri Chelsea would've still won cause the were a solid brick wall at the back and remember Chelsea already beat us twice before the final. It was just unfortunate that city couldn't turn it around tonight

Well if you play back how the goal was score , you will see that defense suffered because of middle , Fernandhio could change the game , the reason why we conceded a goal because middle field was bad

But he's lost with his team selection people condemn him. It's saddening. And I think people should understand that this Chelsea team is better. Pep has said it their compact and so and so. I have never seen Pep talk about a team like this after he lost against them. So we should believe as Pep does that this Chelsea team is exceptionally better

Sterling was City's most dangerous player on the night, so I understand why Guardiola decided to pick him. Reece James just happened to have had the game of his life and got the better of Sterling. The major issue was not starting with Rodri/Fernandinho. That bit was just crazy.

I am a Tottenham Fan and have followed Football and supported my team over 30 Years. I remember that Game when we were 3 - 0 up at Half Time, even then us Tottenham Fans were not confident we would even win. It ended 5 - 3 to Man Utd, that is how afraid of them everybody was. I see Man United completely Dominate the Premier League for over a Decade, Alex Ferguson built Teams from scratch. He would bring through Youngsters, buy young Players no one had heard of and made them stars. He bought Players from Abroad that were unknown, then they become house hold names. He didn't have an open Cheque book to do this, it wasn't Chelsea and Man City. This man is without doubt the greatest Manager to ever grace Football, some people seem to forget it wasn't just Man United. He did it with Aberdeen in Scotland, with Celtic and Rangers who dominate up there and still do today. He won 3 Scottish League Titles, Cup Winners Cup, a Scottish League Cup and four Scottish Cups. Then comes to England and does the same with United and dominates, remember United were not winning titles when Alex Ferguson was appointed. He built United and made them what they are today, people say he only won 2 Champions League Trophies. Lets not forget he got United to 4 Finals, it was only because he came up against one of the greatest Teams of all time in Barcelona. Let's not forget Pep has only won 2 Champions Leagues and has managed all the best teams with the most money in each League. I don't care what anyone says, any decent Manager could of won what Pep won with that Barcelona Team, when he left they were still winning loads of stuff. Look at Pochettino and Klopp, they had nowhere near the amount of money Pep has had at City, Poch took Tottenham to a Champions League Final and Klopp has been there twice. This Season was the first time City have got there, they have like two teams with the amount of Players they have. So I believe they only made it this Season and run away with the League because they had so many Players. They can rotate a lot more than other teams and that has been an advantage this Season. There will be no Manager that will dominate English Football like Sir Alex Ferguson did, everybody also knows that the Premier League is the best League in the World. It is more Competitive than all the others and small teams can beat the big teams. In all the other Leagues that rarely happens, look at the Premier League this Season. The team that won the Champions League just about made top 4 on the last Day, Liverpool who have been unbeatable in Europe and the Premier League the last few years only just made top 4. Lets not forget when the Super League was set up they wanted 6 Teams from England and only 3 from other Countries. So you will never see a Manager like Ferguson again, he took on all the best and came out winning. He had to go up against Wenger and that Arsenal Team. United brushed them aside and won a treble in the process, no Team in England has ever won that Treble. Then there was Chelsea and their rich oil money, Jose after 2 years of winning back to back titles everybody thought Ferguson was finished. United had gone 3 years without winning the title, Ferguson builds a new team and then comes out on top by winning the title for the next 3 years. Then with Chelsea spending more and then City, United still managed to pick up another two Premier League Titles. That was against two Teams that could buy any player in the World and spend unlimited money, Ferguson still managed to win the Title 2 more times. The last Team he managed in his last Season that won the Title, there is no Manager on the Planet that could of won the Title with that Team. That just showed how great Sir Alex Ferguson was

We need more fans like you. Great mindset. You're completely right. Anything can happen in a final. City keeps improving and I'm sure you guys will have your big moment eventually.

the race for top 4 next season is going to be crazy. Chelsea are a different beast under Tuchel. finally i feel like Pep has met his match in terms of tactics. plus, Liverpool finally has Gomez and VVD back,City is going to be City, (good as always) Man United are gonna fight even harder next season. Leicester and West Ham are starting to shine. and arsenal remain to be the smallest club in England.

I've seen almost all the comments and no even one positive comment. Y'all saying is Pep fault but Pep would win the final ,you wouldn't say that. You would say" Pep is the best manager in the world. I'm hurting as you but you have to be positive. There will be another chance,you forgot Chelsea 1st final against Man United, Liverpool against Madrid. City played us with fernandino and rodri, with Rodri only and we beat them both times. We mentally messed up peps mind to decide to play without cdms in the final. All credit is to chelsea.

Take some notes : - 1.Sterling is Overrated. 2.Laporte is better than Dias. 3.Fernandhino should have started. 4.Pep over analysed as usual. 5.Am a City Fan.

But despite these difficulties, he helped them reach fourth place, and won the Champions League! He's a genius 👍

Everybody said guardiola this guardiola that, why? Because he lost so you can say it's his fault or whatever. But if he win? Lots of people will call him genius, best manager in the world etc. To be clear I'm not exactly a Pep's fan, I hate him BUT I do understand the decision that he make. He just lost two game in a row (against Tuchel's side) before this final and of course that results playing around on his mind for a bit. Gambling on his tactics but unfortunately it didn't work out for him. He's a great manager (I don't know if he could do it with smaller clubs and lesser budget) but he's also a human. This is the only final that he lost since 2011. Good thing just can't last forever.

This can happen to anyone. I also sometimes try to outsmart my opponent and ultimately end up embarrassing myself by putting up a nonsensical tactical lineup on FIFA 😂

Unfortunately Zinchenko was at fault for the first goal. Kai was already pointing to the pass and Zinchenko hadn't even realised he should be getting back , cant switch off for a second at this level

He won’t because he’ll likely bottle it by playing players out of position or tinkering with his lineup in unbelievable ways.

Every coach can win the Champions League, that you can see in this match. You must only have to be greedy enough. Last year it was someone from the second row with an official mentality. This year it is a newcomer and maybe next year a baker who is happy with 200.000€ a month there is at least enough money left to pay the helpers properly.

He always tries to outsmart his opponents at the very last minute in the biggest games. With every massive Champions league game they have played under pep, he always makes an odd tactical choice that ruins the flow of the team. If he had just played his usual team formation they no doubt would of won this game.

God bless Pep. I hope he can recover mentally as quickly as possible. That was such a hard press-conference to watch. I wanna know how much that journalist gets paid to ask "Do you have any regrets"...

I'm a bit surprised he didn't start with Fernandinho, but I have no criticism but all support. We came this far with Pep, he had a plan that he thought may work, and we tried. We will keep trying
