Thank you for seeing this. Omg. I have seen this so many times in so many good managers. They will say "No, you can't quit, you can't leave me here all alone, I need you. You are the one that keeps this place running like clock work. How about you just take a few days off then come back when you are ready." Unfortunately the narrator seems to blow this off and tries to blame the manager for no reason. Sorry for the rant.

Working as a head chef at a holiday resort, I have absolutely zero tolerance for people who shout, scream or are in any way threatening. I'm 6.7, so people usually leave when I come out of the kitchen, if not I'm happy to help them on their way. 🤣🤣🤣

Story 3: let me get this straigh, he complain about her finances, in what she spend her money on and to what and who spend it, but he has no problems when she gives him brand things or give things for free who she could sold. He sounds really cheap and controlling than anything else.

I don't thing the GM in the first story was wrong to tell the employee "you can't quit", because they obviously can't stop you from quitting, but it helped the OP by stopping them from making a rash decision and gave them more time to mentally stabilize before leaving that job

The man in that first story was absolutely atrocious and a prime example of why I go out of my way to be kind to any service people. At a restaurant, a store, a hotel, or anywhere else, i'll always treat people with the dignity and courtesy they deserve when jerks fail to do so.

Story 1: Ugghhh, even more reasons why hotel workers like that should never be working alone or not having any kind of in-house security. That guest was clearly just trying to cause a scene and scam some kind of free or discounted services. Good on the OP for flipping him off and cussing him out... at that point, it should be 100% allowed both legally and morally. Story 2: This guy is more then just an idiot... he's now an unemployed idiot... and hopefully he had to pay the companies $10000 fine as well. Story 3: This is really a grey one for me. First off, its the OPs money, so she can do with it as she pleases really. However, you really should mae sure you get rid of your bills and debts first, or it can really eat away at your money. As for the bf here, he is either extremely cheap or frugle, doesn't like material things, or this is his way of showing concern for how the OP handles her money. It's hard to say. Story 4: Okay, first off, whoever wrote that instruction manual for the slicer is more full of crap then a campground outhouse in July. DO NOT EVER!!!... clean a meat slicer of any kind while the blade is moving. That is so stupid and dangerous its not even funny. One wrong move and say goodbye to your fingers, and really your job. Also, you should never remove the wheel on a slicer either, you can clean it thouroughly enough safely without taking it off.... also very dangerous to handle it and if you dont put it back on properly. Most safety and health inspectors discourage taking the wheel off completely. Also, a rusty machine like that in a kitchen is both a safety and health hazard.... so much for that dumb manager being all health-aware. I'm surprised that boss didnt get fired over all of this, or at the very least have to pay for the slicer out of her check/salary.

I like the op in story number 4 cause the person took time to read the manual on how to clean it vs the boss the assume it their way or the high way. I say the manual is there for a reason. I say if you don't read the manual then good luck and it no wonder why the machine that costed 5000 dollars just broke down in few weeks. I say it should have last at least good 10 year or more depending on the quality. having to pay 5000 every few weeks will certainly put the business out of commission within less then a year time!!! Unless some how the business is multi billion dollar company which I doubt it is. I am sure Elon Musk would advise the boss she is going to break the machine in weeks how the boss wanted it to be cleaned. Any person who has a mind set a mechanical way of thinking can certainly figure that one out which the op certainly have the mind of plus having a father in the mechanical industry do pass their talents onto their kids. I hope the op in story 4 gotten a better job leading to the field that interest the person.

Stayed at a hotel for a week. The girl up front was a sweet and gorgeous 20 year old. You couldn't help but be pleasant with her. So, some couple came in at 11am, said they had a reservation. She said ok , great! When a room opens up, you'll be the first to get it. Check in is at 3pm but I'll get you in ASAP. Well, they didn't like that AT ALL. They liked it even less when I went out front to have a smoke. GIVE US HIS ROOM. He's here for a week. HOW DID HE GET A ROOM? He checked in two days ago. So, they kept going on and on how they were going to call this, call that etc etc blah blah. Finally she said LOOK, I TOLD YOU YOU'D GET A ROOM,BUT THAT'S JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH HUH? DON'T THINK BECAUSE YOU WALTZ IN BITCHING THAT I'M GONNA PULL A ROOM KEY OUT OF MY ASS. NOW, YOU CAN SIT THERE AND SHUT THE HELL UP OR THE COPS WILL PUT YOU IN A ROOM THAT AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW! They sat there quietly in the lobby watching TV. The manager was in the back room and heard everything. Gave her a high five.

If someone gives me hell over my Money, I would be like "Yo, Mate. do I tell YOU how to use YOUR Money? No? The don't effing tell me how to use mine. As long as I have enough to pay off my payments, who besides you cares what I buy?". MC either need to make her boyfriend see sense, or outright dump his ass.

For story 3,.if you are.thinkingnit.is.going to be 30 to 50 years to pay off your student loans you are obviously paying the absolutely minimum payments, he is probably trying to get you pay more than the minimum which would take years off the payment plan. so in my opinion, I believe you are in the wrong and the boyfriend is much more financially responsible.

I can kind of understand how Opie felt when they were told they couldn't quit working in fast-food I had a manager who wanted to quit but was told you can't quit until YOU find someone that can replace you he put up with it for a little while but in the end left without finding anyone

With you up until the "screaming at a "child" sillines. You're a legal and biological adult. Otherwise, if your retelling of events is accurate, that man was way out of line.

People who can't stand up for themselves I feel no pity for them

The first story the OP isn't a jerk for handling the customer in that way. They are a jerk for leaving their shift. I worked at multiple hotels for 2 years as an evening and night auditor clerk. You are responsible for the money and equipment in the hotel. If things get damaged because of your negligence you are liable to be sued. I have had to call police and trust me everyone changes their tone when they know police are on their way. I would have done all the same things as the OP with the exception of when he refused to step aside. I would have stopped talking or interacting with him and called the police. Jerks are inevitable when working a hotel job. I would have at least finished my shift before quitting versus stooping to the jerks level.

Video maker just reads other people's stories from places like reddit out loud. He doesn't go out of his way to avoid to women's stories, so sometimes he reads stuff with female pronouns or stories that state "I am a girl" etc when he is not...

1st story. He was NOT literally screaming at a child. He was screaming at a young adult. 18 year olds are adults. Still unacceptable behavior, though.

Idk they can't drink booze legally so guess some people might still consider them a kid. You can still be in high school at 18. Not everyone draws a bright line at 17 years and 364 days old = kid. 17 years and 365 days old (aka 18 years, 0 days) = 100% adult I have some family that doesn't think you're an adult until you move out of parents and provide for yourself (job). Some others will call anyone 20-30 years younger than them "kid".
