That same episode had two of her most racist lines in the show, lmao (PIama brings in clean towels) "What does she know about towels??? HER people dry themselves off by throwing DIRT on their BACKS..." (In reference to Abe and friends) "Do you know those animals are pacing around out there like it's Africa???? When this is my room they don't come within 30 feet of the DOOR...."

My favorite line of her's is when Francis hid the Jingle Bells Christmas card & she says "I'm going to rip off his Hands & shove them in his Kakushnik."

I have a grandmother that looks and acts like Ida. A complete bitter narcicist. Thanks to that my mother turned out to become Lois in real life. This show always hit home in the funniest of ways to me. I remember my grandmother pulling a knife daring she would take her own life just to be ''right'' during an argument...

So there she is... What a Lovely actress.... She might Rest in Peace in the paradise, One of the Best lines, this should be more underrated

My mom is slowly becoming like her but I Love it!!!

Such a great show.....Craig and Ida are HILARIOUS, they made the show for me...

my favorite part is when lois and Francis tries to get rid of her by scaring her with their black nabors (i think one of them even goes "ooga booga")

Yes, the conversation goes something like this: Black Guy: Why do you loath me? I have a job, a nice house, a family and I earn a lot of money. Ida: Of course. That's because you're a dealing drugs. Black Guy: OOGAA BOOGAA!!!! Ida: Ahhhhhh! *runs away*

My favorite is when she walks in on Lois in the shower. “You have your father’s breasts.”

Best line... "I'm, you know where... She's doing know what... Again".

God damn that was a cold-blooded line...

One thing I never understood was, if she's from Croatia (flag on the wall of the dancing episode proves it) (plus the accent/heritage is fitting)... Then who is she talking about in all those dark references of soldiers kicking in the door in the middle of the night, throwing babies into the fire, and "chasing you into the hills with the dogs"? WW2 Germany?...

I honestly think they threw a lot of South-Eastern European Stereotypes together and exaggerated it as a shitty place full of horrors and poverty. I don't think they considered how true or accurate some of it may be.

Answering very late, it`s a reference to the Ustase movement during WW2 croatia. They carried out mass killings in Croatia, getting anyone deemed a threat to the state. Ida was born and grew in this horrifying enviornment, which gave her the ruthless character we see in the show.

Lois: Oh Piama don't bring the clean towels!! Ida: What does she know about towels??? Her people dry themselves off by throwing DIRT on their BACKS....

This show so much hidden jokes. Mother's Day, Malcolm gives Lois some strong sedative pills, in a box. With the words Give To Grandma when she is over. Lois looks at Malcolm and thinks.

Sure! get fat, but what will you do when the dogs are chasing you though the woods!??

If this was real life grandma would be buried in a hole in the backyard.

Francis: You don't butter toast like that!!! Ida: DON'T TALK TO ME OF TOAST....until you grow some HAIR on your PANTS....big dumb animal thinks he knows about tooooast....
