Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Take a tour of the @makitauk 40V XGT X-Lock angle grinder with Sam, and discover why he has decided to upgrade his Makita 18V angle grinder.
You will learn how much faster you can change disks with the X-Lock system, and watch as Sam puts his old 18V angle grinder head-to-head with the 40V angle grinder to demonstrate the difference. Will the new 40V angle grinder cut the mustard as Sam tests it against a rusty metal plate, 10mm rebar, and a concrete block? We promise the sparks will fly!
Watch this video to familiarise yourself with the Makita angle grinder, and decide which to buy: paddle or slide switch? Which is best for you?
If you have any questions for Sam, please leave them in the comments below. Happy grinding, folks!

Great video. Could have used that dust extractor when chasing my bathroom walls for pipe work, the room was covered in dust, I couldn't see a thing, watching you cut that concrete block with very little dust was impressive.

Sounds like when I first core drilled a hole for a bathroom extractor fan, last time I made that mistake! Definitely get yourself a dust collector, you wont regret it.

I was specifically looking for real-world opinions on Paddle-Switch vs Slider, you really helped me to go with Slider despite me liking safety of paddle-like systems on my other Makita tools - you hit something awkwardly and the tool stops instantly because you instinctively released the finger. On the X-Lock, it seems really limiting with the vendor lock on much more expensive disks. I've found "Quick change angle grinder nut" by different brands, seems to solve exact same issue without the vendor lock, have you tried any of them? Thank you for the reviews!

Thank you. I'm really glad I could help, I do try to review items in a real world situation and put my own experiences into the mix, otherwise it's just another advert. Unfortunately no, I've not used any of the quick release nuts, but you're right about the XLOCK discs. £££££ (same with Star Lock actually)

Good demo, Sam, wasn't quite clear if the new model takes old type blades, but might have missed it....

Thank you Dave. No the X-Lock models will not take the old disc blades.

Great succinct clip. I use my grinder (still corded) in many angles and hand positions, for cutting, grinding/flap disc, wire brush and arbotec. I’m looking to upgrade but have only had slide switch. Although I find the switch annoying it looks like my best option. You may have brought mr round on the x-lock too. I always had my spanner tied to the plug, to remind me to unplug during blade replacement (for safety). I assume the x-lock won’t start if the x-lock latch is engaged. Thanks!

That's a really good question... (🏃‍♂️runs off to the workshop to check)... Okay, well. yes the machine will start with the x-lock latch open, no safety feature there! But I would always say, remove the battery when changing the disc, no different from unplugging a mains version really.
