*Great saw **MyBest.Tools** and track for the price can't beat it although the blade could be better but easily switched out.*

An amazingly useful video that made me buy this Makita plunge saw. I previously bought the corded version and a Makita battery saw for portability, but doesn’t adapt to the Makita guide track like the plunge saw. After buying this saw I’ve never looked back and put my other saws up for sale. I was surprised how lite it is compared to the corded version. I highly recommended this saw. Thanks for creating this video. If you haven’t made a video on the Makita thicknesses, that would also be very useful to us DIY enthusiasts 👍

Been promising myself one of these for a long while and finally took the plunge (excuse the pun). It's fantastic and as a bonus it's made in the U.K. - Good on Makita!

I have been to the Telford factory and, at one time they were just making motors but, due to the high quality of their output and good productivity Makita moved the plunge saw production from Japan to the U.K. Not that any of our lovely media would be interested in a good news story like that.

I'm worried about Rodger. that poster...

They've sent that out with their efficut blade, it's a 56 tooth and as lovely as it is the extra teeth will obviously put additional stress on the saw, I highly recommend the makita Specialized 24t blade or the 40t if a good finish is what you're after over speed. They are all I run on my flexvolt now 👌

Great peice of kit, would love to get it, had my van broken into and and cleaned out so saving for more kit, good video though mate

I see you at the tool fair the other day, only got a chance to say hi as I came through the door, bit gutted I couldn't find you again later but I did do some digging, seeing as you doing tracksaws, one of the guys at the hikoki stand tells me they are working on a new multivolt plunge saw and new brushless planer 👌

This is a great saw. I have this and the corded version and the cordless seems to have more power, along with the obvious convenience of being cordless. The backpack vacuum is a good idea, or if you're not in a finished space a dust bag works well enough to catch the majority of the dust. Mafell makes a nice dust bag that works on this saw, I wish Makita had included one in the kit I bought. It wasn't cheap by any means, and I was actually kind of disappointed it didn't come with one.

@Mark Boddy Only one distributor I'm aware of in the US. www.timberwolftools.com/mt55-kss50-dust-bag I actually found out about it from another KZreadr TOOLS By Design. He has some videos of the Makita saw with it on in action, its pretty impressive. Granted track saws with shrouded blades are inherently good at ducting sawdust out of the dust port, but this one just seems to work better. Maybe a more porous bag material that lets air move through it or something.

Would you post a link to appropiate Mafelle dust bag?

I will use it with my 36v backpack vacuum, it's the perfect combo for long cuts that I do outside, zero cables, just the vac hose that follows me cause my vaccum is attached on my back ;)

I picked the battery powered version of this saw because I thought it would be a little bit more convenient. I realize now that the blade is a lot thinner and expect that it will vibrate more and will affect cut quality. Do you think I could use this with a standard kerf blade? It seemed to bog down during your tests. Did you find the corded version was significantly more powerful?

Have plenty makita tools. This one my next. My suggestion for you guys attach a "Maffell" dust bag for this saw(a bit expensive) . Tester a bit dishonest and tried to play "festoollover" game and push sales up on it (yes I love them too but not for such money).

When I use 3ah in my circ saw it struggles where 5/6ah batteries blast thru. I’d like to of seen u test it wiv the better batteries

Kingsley Garratt the 5Ah and 6Ah delivers much more power so the tools run better.

Great video, I owned the same saw and ended up bringing back and getting a festool. But I miss the makita! Its overall an awesome saw! Love the scribbing feature. What's the next track saw that will be put to the test ?

Will this cut oak table tops ?

Don't think the blade is designed to spin on the arbour as it heats the blade up and warps it. I had a 1600 w saw that spun the arbour when the blade had bound up , i didn't realise quick enough and it got so hot it blued the blade and buggered it. Great vid rog cheers

Torn between this and the new Makita DHS782 36v circular which has just been released. The 782 fits straight on the track and has a 190mm blade. Annoyingly there's no reviews out of it yet. Anyone had a go with it? does it cut as nice as the plunge? Can't make my mind up.

Like the tracksaw reviews 👍 just have a question on the DeWalt 2.6metre track, if you know if it ok for cutting sheet material that is 2.44metre? I'm interested in buying the 2.6metre track but not sure if be ok on sheet goods.

I had the same question, couldn't find the answer anywhere on the net. So only option was to take the 'plunge' and buy the 2.6m rail....... If you like to set your saw a couple of millimetres below the material it's no good, it's at least 100 mm too short for 2.44 metre. The only way to make it work is to set the saw to maximum depth and by using every inch of the track and work out exactly where to place it on the sheet without the saw running off the rail you can just get away with it. Not Dewalt's best idea, if the rail was 2.8 metre it would have been perfect. Someone at Dewalt needs to do more field testing with accessories.

@@addnet4 thanks addnet4👍 yes I'm in two minds as to get the 2.6metre DeWalt track or else the 3.0 metre festool track. I like the double sided DeWalt track but 2.6 metre just that bit short I was thinking

I think the anti-tilt could also serve as anti-kickback as it would prevent the saw from coming off the track and chewing it

I like your normal building videos but these tracksaw videos have not been your best Roger. The testing has been pretty spotty and even in relaying the saw specs you and robin haven't been fully clued up. Also running that saw on two old 3ah batteries is just daft. I don't think anyone would consider running it or any other cordless saw on less than 5ah or 6ah batteries. They do have more power than just run time alone. This has been proven time and again. You put a weak battery Into the festool or the dewalt and they would struggle too. I appreciate these are a more casual style of review but honestly they just aren't accurate portrayals of these saws, across them all. Yes I have used the festool, dewalt and Makita A LOT and the Makita was easily the best of those 3 in the corded versions. Others with plenty of experience ( rrbuildings for one) have also said the Makita cordless was the best available too. If you had the bigger batteries in this test would have been totally different

Hi Peter I appreciate everything you are saying and we will try harder. I knew the comments on the batteries would come in but, in fairness, none of the manufacturers are publicly admitting that there is a performance drop on lower Ah, in fact some strenuously deny it. We have more tests coming up and the Showdown will reveal more but the comments from other users, like yourself, form an important part of the test.

I just think that when it comes to joe public spending their money on one of these products that they should have as broad an opinion as possible. I know for me, I had a totally open mind before I bought my track saw and considered all options and that was based on first hand usage. As I mentioned before, I have NOT used the cordless options, but i DO trust others opinions when it comes to their reviews, which is why I felt the need to comment. For me, when it came to cordless, the makita was the best of the bunch (admittedly I have NOT tried the mafell offering) but I have tried all three extensively. I think this test would have seen you rave about the makita, if you had used a 5 or 6ah battery in the saw. I also conducted the same test covering the hole in the guard with duct tape and found it made it WORSE for dust collection as it actually REDUCED the airflow, therfore REDUCED the amount of suction available for dust collection. I was sucked in by the myth that covering the hole in the guard improved dust collection, but in practical tests, it actually made it WORSE!

I don't want to reveal which cordless I found best but I did come up with one. We will definitely carry out the same test on 5Ah batteries.

@@SkillBuilder roger, as I said in the previous comments, I think your videos are great and usually of a really high standard, but as I had used these saws very extensively first hand, I felt it was definitely worth commenting. I ended up buying the makita corded version myself so battery platform didnt come into it for me. I went for the saw purely on performance and value. I think unless there was a ts75 cordless version around the £400 mark I wouldn't consider anything other than the makita. I personally did not like the dewalt due to the depth gauge and the way it plunged. I preferred the single point plunge of the makita/festool/bosch/mafell over the parallelogram of the dewalt. In terms of cordless power, I can not comment, but based on those who I DO trust, the makita seems to be the best reviewed cordless saw. I certainly think it would be worth testing the cordless versions of each in a seperate test (would certainly be good for the channel views too ;) )

Why on earth would you review this saw with out the 5 AMH batteries. When you reviewed the Dewalt did you put in a 20volt battery instead of the 60volt.

Volts are volts are volts. Amp hours only affects run time not power.

Maybe not on every Makita but I had a recip saw and it was very tight until I filed it down at the edge. Injection moulding is a very tricky business.

@@SkillBuilder Strange. 8 Makita tools here, all from different lines and with different dates of construction. They all are super smooth concerning the battery. Of course I trust you when you say it is like you said on your two units. I really appreciate your videos by the way. What I wanted to point out -> What you describe is certainly not the norm, at least not from my experience.

Roger, do you know another big part of why I commented, because us guys in the UK are so under represented by the major tool manufacturers and it fecks me right off no end to see the american guys get free tools, hand over fist, and they do feck all with them! The likes of me and you in the UK get such a poor deal of support by the major tool companies which is why I dont see the need to praise them when they do so little to support the UK market. I am fed up of seeing them send tools to prominent US makers for free, and attending maker events. When will they ever bother their ass to run the same sort of events here in the UK?? guys like you with more of a voice than the the rest of us, could help make it happen. We lag so far behind the american/canadian scene when it comes to brand/industry awareness and support. I see U.S guys get the likes of gen.3 milwaukee cordless impact drivers yet here the best we can get is milwaukee BRUSHED versions finally apppearing at screwfix. come on, what is THAT about!? pathetic! when will these guys actually bring us the same tools as the rest of the world!?

Damn man, that must really be frustrating. I admit I get a bit upset when I see some nice tool available in Japan or Australia and not here in the States so I sympathize. I will say, in Makita's defense, they don't flood the "Makers" or tool reviewers with free tools nearly as much as Milwaukee or Dewalt and more often they send nothing.
