Thanks for the video. I suggest you add a warning that the drive roller is a reverse thread and using an impact driver to undo it in the wrong/normal direction will destroy the casting around the nut making removal with a socket impossible. Yes, found this out the hard way.

Thank you, Alex! I was just now re-watching for the direction his fingers were turning that nut, and it looked like a reverse, but wasn't certain... thanks again!

I also totally destroyed the housing just now trying to remove the drive roller with an impact and not realizing it was reverse thread. I am up a creek without a paddle now because the casing is only aluminum

I got it apart! Forget about using a socket. I used the same tool that you use to take off angle grinder wheels to control the gear on the backside. Sat the sander flat on the table. Held the angle grinder wrench to the gear and then, using some heavy duty needle nose, just shove the needle nose into the drive roller housing in an "x" configuration. Then get a pipe or something and turn the handles of the needle nose using leverage. The needle nose sit in the "+" sign around the nut. It came off pretty easily because when you accidentally tighten it you destroy the aluminum before you can actually overtighten the nut and damage anything. Heck the aluminum housing idea might be a design feature to prevent idiots like me from overtightening important parts, a safety catch for the fact that it is reverse thread, if you know what I mean

I swear the aluminum nut is like a 23 mm and I only have 22 and 24. Same problem with 7/8 and 15/16 it is somewhere in between??

How do you get a socket onto the nut if the nut is recessed in the drive wheel?
