    the LED rectifier consists of: LED's - for rectifinyg a resistor - for load a capacitor - for exploding

  • @JinnaiT

    @JinnaiT

    3 жыл бұрын

    why does it need a load? without a load it would be a short, but what does that mean for the resistor? If you put too small a resistor on, it would be the weak point and explode, but what if you put a high wattage rating resistor on with a low resistance? How do you know how much resistance is appropriate to make it a circuit, but not a short?

  • @TheKnodel12

    @TheKnodel12

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@JinnaiT Diodes work by having a standard voltage drop across them. Say you have a diode that has a 1V drop, then your source voltage (Vs), minus 1V or Vs - 1V would be applied to the resistor. The lower resistor you go, the higher the amperage as defined by Ohm's Law (I=V/R). Diodes generally don't need much amperage, so a very high resistor can be used to minimize power going to the LEDs. The capacitor was used to keep the Vs more consistent, rather than mimicing a sine wave.

  • @demoniack81

    @demoniack81

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@JinnaiT You decide what current you want first, in this case let's say 30mA since that's a good current for old school LEDs like the ones shown, and divide the supply voltage (minus the LEDs' forward voltages - ~3V each, so a total of 9V) by that current to get the resistance. So if you're at 230V AC you'd end up with (230-9)/0.03 = 7.37kΩ.

    Dear Mehdi, Embassies are your friend here. Dipliomatic pouch is not subject to customs inspection or tariffs. Contact your local Kenyan embassy and have them send the merchandise to your embassy in Kenya, so they can relay the item through local post delivery at no surcharge to the recipient. I was a diplomat's kid, and lived off this shipping channel for the first two decades of my life. Mind you, if you are not a diplomat this is not intended to be a postal service workaround, so be charming about it and explain the dilemma, or they will just refuse. Keep up the awesome videos, I am a HUGE fan!

    Funny story about GFCI outlets. The upstairs bathroom in my house has no GFCI outlets in it. Why is this? Well, whoever wired the house wired the bathroom and an outlet in the garage (on opposite sides of the house btw) together and the outlet in the garage is GFCI. We only realized this when a leak in the garage caused the GFCI to pop and the bathroom outlets stopped working too.

Obviously that's a much bigger and more well-connected country than Kenya but I bet they have something like that to send things through that means can be cheaper like it is here. My friend in NYC shipped me a graphics card during the GPU apocalypse and I only paid a few dollars US through the courier service. Unfortunately I think electronics parts are taxed more than PC parts.

    I have that cursed thing at 6:28. It's a travel adapter. You can turn the top bit to select which plug on the side should connect to the socket on the top where you plug in your appliance. It definitely looks cursed though, and while in theory, only the selected prongs should be connected, I wouldn't touch any of the unused exposed prongs while it's plugged in.
