Making Triple Butter CP Soap, Step-by-Step Tutorial with Recipe

Hello, welcome to Sherri’s Heavenly Apothecary, I’m Sherri. Today I’m teaching you how to make cold processed triple butter body soap. We will go step-by-step through the process. This soap is ultra-moisturizing and luxurious with three kinds of butter and some very lovely oils, it will leave your skin feeling divine! This is an all-natural soap, as are all the products on this channel. There are no artificial colorants or fragrances. We will be using cedarwood and vanilla essential oils and kaolin clay to provide a beautiful skin feel and to offset some of the tannish-brown color that occurs from the vanillin in the vanilla. It makes for a lovely off-white, cream color appropriate for our bar today. If you are a returning subscriber, I would like to thank you for coming along on the journey with me! Here is the Recipe as promised
I made a 32 oz. batch with the following measurements:
(*If you would like to make a larger batch you can go to soapcalc.net and put in the percentages provided down below for each of the oils/butter I have listed, and it will calculate the lye/water amounts automatically for you - the lye/water amounts will be different if making a larger/smaller batch, so I suggest using soapcalc.net as it will calculate the correct measurements)
LYE Solution:
4.3 oz - Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
12.1 oz - Distilled Water
2 tsp - Organic Cane Sugar (add to water and stir to dissolve before putting the lye into the water)
2 tsp - Sodium Lactate ( add after the lye solution has cooled down to a minimum of 130* degrees)
Butters and Oils:
10% - 3.2 oz - Butter(s) - I used Ultimate Body Butter (Shea/Mango/Cocoa) which you can find here:a.co/d/aLka9bF
10% - 3.2 oz - Castor Oil
10% - 3.2 oz - Avocado Oil
10% - 3.2 oz - Grapeseed Oil
20% - 6.4 oz - Coconut Oil
40% - 12.8 oz - Olive Oil

    It looks a beautiful soap. I love whatever colour the finished product is provided the colours are completely natural, just like yours❣️ And than you for recommending to all not to use a microwave. It concerns me to see so many use microwaves to melt their beautiful ingredients…let alone anything one would eat

    How absolutely wonderful that you can buy a pre blended amalgam of those lovely butters❣️. must make life that much easier as far as Prep goes 😊. Might I suggest that you use a spatula/scraper to ensure you get the full quotient of your lye into your water. Easier, more efficient and most importantly Safer than using a silicone whisk 😉😉. havent seen your full vid as yet but sounds delectable thus far 🤩

    Thank you for speaking truth most soap makers claim that the lye is still present after soap is made and like you said, NO it isn’t, curing is simply to harden and evaporate excess moisture!! I always leave my soap dishes for 24 hours then wash them when I know saponification has occurred this gives a good idea about the lather and makes washing up much easier. Also since I am on a septic system this is better, less oils to deal with😁

    Hi! Thank you for watching! The mold size is 42 ounces which is roughly 2.5 pounds (2.6 lbs to be exact) I think they’re perfect. I get about 9 or 10 bars that end up being between 4.5 and 5 oz. each, very decent size. Here is the link for the molds I get. a.co/d/015GWNcL Hope this helps 😊

    There are tons of subs, depending on what you are going for you could use florals; ylang ylang, geranium, rose or citrus like lemon, bergamot, orange. Also herbals/pines like pine, fir, or basil. Just experiment to see what you like and what works for you. I suggest going on www.eocalc.com and checking rates of usage and blends. Hope this helps😊

    Welcome!! You could go to soapcalc.net, click on Recipe Calculator and then put in 6 pounds, then you would select the oils and butters from my recipe in the description box and use the % percentage rate for each. This way your lye/water solution will calculate correctly. Hope this helps😊

    Thanks for sharing your recipe with us, I’m a bit confused so I’ve added Shea/mango/cocoa butter as 50/25/25 together with the other oils into soap calc but it says I need to take more off. I’m trying to make 1000g. What am I doing wrong please help.

  • @SherrisHeavenlyApothecary

    @SherrisHeavenlyApothecary

    Ok, I can see how this would be confusing. The total percentage of butter is only 10% for the recipe. The Ultimate Body Butter I used is a blend of 50/25/25; shea, mango, cocoa, So if you don’t have that particular blend then you would only put 3.3% mango, 3.3% cocoa and 3.4% Shea to total 10% butters. Using more than 10% butter is not recommended in a soap recipe because it tends to be too soft. I did provide the Amazon link for the ultimate body butter with the recipe in the description box if you wanted to check that out (I’m not affiliated). So you would put 1000 grams in soapcalc.net and then use 3.4% shea, 3.3% cocoa butter and 3.3% mango. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and lmk how it goes, I’d love to see a picture 😊

    @@SherrisHeavenlyApothecarywouldn’t it be 5% Shea, 2.5% Mango, 2.5% Cacao?? The percentage’s above make each butter at 33.33% each

  • @SherrisHeavenlyApothecary

    @SherrisHeavenlyApothecary

    4 ай бұрын

    @@lorettamargaret2243 you sure could do it that way, just as long as the total butters add up to 10%. If you put 3.4%/3.3%/3.3% in it will add up to 10% though😊 3.4+3.3+3.3=10

    @@lorettamargaret2243 Yes, I see what you are saying, and I think going off of the butter blend I used your calculation would be closer, yes. Because I used the 50/25/25 blend, your calculation using a 5%/2.5%/2.5% would be closer to what I used. Sorry for the confusion 😳

    Wouldn’t it be 5% Shea & 2.5% ea of Mango and Cocoa to achieve the percentages of the ingredients in Ultimate Butter @ 10% of your recipe? I may be wrong, it’s late here but that’s my take on things 😊😊 PS I hadn’t seen the subsequent comments before I added this comment 🥹💜

    You would add 5% shea butter, 2.5% cocoa butter and 2.5% mango butter to match the ultimate body butter blend at a total of 10% butters for the recipe.Hope this helps.
