Making the World COME TO LIFE on the HO scale Anchor Bay Railway | EP 4

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

EDIT: If you'd like to hire me to help you build your next layout or help out with scenery or tracklaying, I'm available to take on 1-2 new layout clients in 2024. Keep in mind I'm located in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I have a pretty wide service area, better still if you're along a BART or transit line to make getting to you easier as my car was recently stolen. Send any/all layout construction inquiries to interurbanera (a t) G M A I L
thanks!

Little update on my S1 from the previous video, I put the decoder in, but there were little metal shavings in the engine itself so I had to find a new one on eBay. Haven't gotten a chance to test it yet, but it should run great now the annoying "thunk" is gone. Thanks again for the great video!

I adore the use of grout as a scenery product. I’d even go so far as to say I couldn’t work on scenery without it. Sanded grout as you describe. Non-sanded grout is quite fine (grade) and I adore it to represent the fine dirt that would accumulate around and on track. I brush the non-sanded grout on dry like you might when applying a powdered pastel or like pigment. A few blasts of water to set it into place. As you’re discovering, the variety in colour is wonderful coupled with how colourfast it is. My current house blend for ballast is a mix of Woodland Scenics plus sanded grout too. -Chris

Oooh, this is great advice! I'll buy some of the non-sanded grout to experiment with because it really seems to work great in general for so many great uses. Also appreciating the hard shell it creates which makes sinking fence posts, signs and poles easier.

Ugh. Watching your vids really makes me jealous you get a to do layouts start to finish. All my commission jobs are all takeovers for people who ended up way over their own heads. Or with VERY specific requirements down to material usage.

@@InterurbanEra Jersey. Did the new Layout for the shop in Piscataway. Rescuing the wiring of a 4x8 layout a guy made out of cast away brass track. Despite light arguments he is very insistent of the purity of the idea of all 1960 vintage gear. So just rolling with it. And a fairly large 14'x30'. A Takeover. Lot of fixing bad track and working with horrible dented XPS base.
