The wavy vase is constructed from reclaimed walnut beams, hardwood pallet wood slats, and a plentiful amount of wood glue. It's 28" tall, 16" in diameter at the widest part, and weighs more than an average sized cat. It took up ~200 hours or so of my life and I think it was worth it. It's supposed to be hard to look at, so that you can't absorb the entirety of the piece in just a quick glance. It's supposed to mimic nature, due to its clearly defined pattern, but also its slight inconsistencies due to it being carved by hand. It's supposed to be busy, but organized at the same time. And it's supposed to be at least slightly insane, much like it's creator.

I guessed vaguely 2 to 300 hours. That's some monster dedication! My jaw was wide open through most of the video just thinking of how much work went into a short video, well done 🙂

This is amazing work, and the editing on this video is top notch! Additionally, that moment where you said “this was such a dumb idea” is so relatable. I think all artists feel that way about their work at one point in the process or another. It turned out gorgeous!

You'd really need a lot of factors to accurately estimate the price, and only the maker has most of that info like time, material cost, etc

Looking through various videos as I tentatively return to woodturning after 50 years, I came across yours. Madness, utterly beautiful madness! The video editing was also perfect and kept it interesting all the way through what must have been a very repetitive procedure, and your dry sense of humour shone through. I'm now going to watch all your other video and hope I can do something 10% as good. Well done!

All I can say is I wish I had a husband like you to make me beautiful things like that. I’m still waiting on my husband who decided to put up gutters last September because he thought... um I can do that... dude this is me smacking my face 🤦‍♀️ and me telling him all end end at the end of the house and I have 4 at the front door... but what do I know and there’s none of it done trust me gaps everywhere!!!! That is just breathtaking! And I understood passion on crafting and once you think of something you can’t stop till you make it perfect! BRAVO 👏
